The ground was covered with solid ice a hundred feet thick, where no sound of man or bird could be heard.
Sun Wukong stood on the ice, his eyes shimmering with a golden light that was daunting to behold.
He used his Eyes of Golden Flame to peer into the ice and all he saw were some collapsed walls and ruins.
"This is the remains of the Immortal City."
The Emperor of Shouma Country said, standing beside him.
The ice on the ground had all melted, only this region had not.
Sun Wukong reached out his hand, and a piece of tile suddenly appeared in his palm.
He had retrieved this piece of tile from under the solid ice using a spell.
Sun Wukong looked at the tile.
"You're right, the Immortal City lies beneath."
Sun Wukong nodded.
This tile had been around for tens of thousands of years and still retained traces of Immortal Energy.
Apart from that Immortal City, no other city was worthy of using such special tiles.
"Clear this area."
Sun Wukong said: "Dig out the Immortal City."
"Yes."
The Emperor turned to give the order.
Countless beings received the command and began excavating the vast expanse of solid ice.
People from Shouma and the Kua Fu tribe came to help, and after several days of digging, a corner of the Immortal City was finally revealed.
"This Immortal City is even larger than Kunlun Mountain."
Immortal Zhen Yuan accompanied Sun Wukong on this investigation and swept his gaze across, noticing stone pillars strewn all over the place.
This was just a corner of the Immortal City, but it was terrifyingly large, comparable to Shouma Country.
"Let's first see what's different here."
Sun Wukong reminded Immortal Zhen Yuan.
The Immortal made an investigation all around and concluded that this was nothing but a heap of ruins.
"There used to be something akin to a Spiritual Network here with immense power."
Immortal Zhen Yuan discovered many mystical inscription patterns in the Immortal City: "But the Magical Treasure that powered these patterns has disappeared, and the patterns no longer work."
Sun Wukong frowned slightly.
This was indeed troublesome.
He sensed a hint of the Jade Seal's aura in those patterns.
The Heavenly Emperor Jade Seal in Sun Wukong's hand was an empty shell and could not exert the power of establishing Heavenly Rules or bestowing Immortal Positions.
He guessed that the power of the Jade Seal had scattered throughout the Immortal City, and to make the Jade Seal effective, he would need to restore the city.
But how to find those Magical Treasures?
Sun Wukong sent out a call for aid.
A month later, Qi people were swiftly moving along the mountain paths.
The sky was a clear azure and the roads long, with the mountain paths obscured by white clouds and the spring scenery and crystal-clear streams continuing unbroken.
With the melting of snow and ice, all things revived, and butterflies danced along the roadside.
"Where is the Immortal City?"
The woman asked the man traveling with her.
"It's just up ahead."
The man looked at the path ahead.
There was no road on this mountain originally, but recently, so many beings had passed by that a path had formed.
At the end of the mountain path was a newly constructed stone bridge, made of simple stones, leading to another peak.
Beyond the bridge, green and lush bamboo stood tall among the mountain flowers, their beauty adding an ethereal touch to the vibrant scene, as vivid and graceful as a painting.
"This is such a beautiful place."
The woman immersed herself in the beautiful scenery of the road.
"Yes."
The man glanced at the bamboo slip and smiled: "There seems to be a stop ahead, let's go rest there for a moment."
They walked along the mountain path, hearing laughter and the scent of wine from afar.
"There's fine wine."
The man quickened his pace and saw a peach grove in the distance with a tavern under it, where many people were drinking.
"The stop turned out to be a tavern."
The man led the woman into the tavern and ordered food and drink.
"Now that the Heavenly Emperor has found the ruins of the Immortal City and called for all spirits to rebuild, I wonder how he will regain its power."
Inside the tavern, a man spoke: "If one could provide clues, gain the Heavenly Emperor's favor, wouldn't it be wonderful to achieve immortality or sainthood in the future?"
"That would be extremely difficult!"
Another Tiger Demon said, "That Immortal City has vanished for tens of thousands of years, who knows where those Magical Treasures have ended up?"
"Indeed!"
Then, a long-bearded man spoke up, "Rather than yearning for distant treasures, we should head there early to carry bricks and tiles for the Immortal City. Though it's a minor task, it contributes Merit to heaven and earth."
"That's right."
Everyone nodded in agreement.
They had missed the grand event of the sun, and now they certainly couldn't miss this opportunity.
The order of the world has not yet been established, and everyone knows that this moment is the best chance to gain Merit, no matter how small, and countless people are competing for it.
Thinking this, the patrons of the tavern did not linger long, and after a short rest, they hurried on their way.
The two Qiong people also rested only briefly before heading towards the Immortal City.
They trekked over mountains and through waters for four days, crossing a steep ridge, and finally saw the vast white landscape.
In the distance, sky and clouds, earth and water, all blended into white.
Countless creatures were active on the ground, digging through the ice, creating channels, carrying the white giant rocks, busily constructing the Immortal City.
"So, so many people..."
The woman walked on the icy surface, her eyes seeing all kinds of creatures.
Humans, Demons, Demi Immortals...
"Boom"
She suddenly bumped into a Giant, who turned around and glared at her, "Be careful."
"Yes, yes..."
The woman nodded quickly.
Watching the Giant carry away several giant logs, she couldn't help but ask, "Is that one of the Kua Fu clan?"
"It seems so..."
The man nodded, "I've only read about them in bamboo slips."
He led the woman towards the already constructed inner city.
There, the streets were filled with newcomers.
The people from Shouma Country were distributing tasks to these newcomers, who, even if assigned a minor task, were elated and scurried to spread the news.
Once the two Qiong people entered the city, they were quickly discovered by the people from Shouma Country.
"Where have you come from?"
One of the Shouma Country people came to inquire.
"Excuse us, Immortal, we are people from Qiong Mountain, here to present a treasure of the Immortal City to the Heavenly Emperor."
The man said with a bow.
The Shouma person was momentarily taken aback but dare not neglect them, quickly leading them into the palace.
Inside the palace, Immortal Zhenyuan was arguing with the Emperor of Shouma Country.
"I can build it even better!"
Immortal Zhenyuan said.
"No, the layout of the Immortal City cannot be changed; it must be rebuilt according to the plans."
The Emperor declared.
The two were arguing about what the Immortal City should look like.
Immortal Zhenyuan wanted to use the technology of the Three Realms to change it, while the Emperor wished for it to return to its former state.
Sun Wukong, seeing that they would not resolve their argument anytime soon, began to examine the box that held the sun.
Not long after, the box suddenly emanated light.
"Eh?"
Sun Wukong uttered in surprise.
"Your Majesty."
An Immortal entered, "Someone outside has brought a treasure to present to you."
Sun Wukong looked up, "Let them come in."
He put away the treasure box and turned his gaze to the man and woman who were called in.
"Who are you?"
Sun Wukong asked, his gaze sweeping over the bamboo slip in the man's hand.
"We are people from Qiong Mountain; our ancestors were the Heavenly Emperor's gate generals."
The man presented the bamboo slip with both hands and said, "The Heavenly Emperor entrusted this treasure to our ancestors, stating that if a new Heavenly Emperor were to emerge, it should be presented to him."
"That's impossible!"
The Emperor of Shouma Country stepped forward, "How do I not know of this?"
"The Heavenly Emperor did not wish for the people of Shouma to be aware."
The man spoke, "The Heavenly Emperor was concerned that the people of Shouma would be bent on revenge, thus not revealing all the treasures to you."
Sun Wukong and the Emperor exchanged glances, feeling the man's credibility increase.
The fact that the Heavenly Emperor did not want Shouma to seek revenge was not common knowledge.
