The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 80: Xingtian

On the shore of the East Sea, peaks gathered like a congregation.

Immortal Zhen Yuan floated among the clouds, looking down at the high mountains enshrouded by white fog.

"Are you sure it's here?"

He asked.

"Certain."

A Taoist nodded.

"Some days ago, I investigated this place, and dreamt of chilling winds and torrents of blood, with a Giant wailing in sorrow and anger."

He continued, "After investigating, I am convinced that it was Xingtian."

Immortal Zhen Yuan turned to Sun Wukong, "Junior Brother, what do you think?"

Sun Wukong opened his Eyes of Golden Flame, closely examining the mountain, spotting a trace of blood on the surface.

"With such a heavy aura of bloody evil, it is indeed possible,"

He remarked.

Immortal Zhen Yuan nodded: "Then I shall order the mountain to be opened!"

He raised his hand, sending out an Immortal Talisman, and instantly the ground surged with people, multitude of Taoists flew in, starting to dismantle the Mountain and relocate the seas.

With the strength of many, wonders can be created.

"Junior Brother, let's go have a drink!"

After watching for a while, Immortal Zhen Yuan led Sun Wukong aside to drink.

A maid followed to serve them.

"Master."

She asked proactively, "Why not open the mountain yourself?"

She was curious, as Sun Wukong's Divine Skills were vast; with a mere motion, he could have moved the mountain himself, what was the need for those mortals?

"Girl, my Junior Brother has his plans,"

Immortal Zhen Yuan explained, "This indeed is a great Merit."

"Great Merit?"

The maid pondered, then realized, "Master, what are you training them for?"

"You girl…"

Immortal Zhen Yuan looked at the maid in slight amazement, "You are quick-witted, would you like to be my disciple?"

"No."

The maid answered without hesitation.

Immortal Zhen Yuan could only sigh, saying to Sun Wukong, "After this matter is settled, we shall practice the technique of Shattering Void."

Sun Wukong nodded.

He calmly waited as the crowd moved the mountain.

As they removed it, days passed, the high mountain had been half transferred, and the crowd's movements began to slow.

"What's the matter?"

Immortal Zhen Yuan called a Taoist over, "Is this the extent of your capabilities?"

"Reporting to Immortal, the rocks inside the mountain are strange, getting increasingly heavy, and we can't move them,"

the Taoist replied.

They had reached the halfway point and found the rocks inside difficult to move.

Sun Wukong stood up, "Let me take a look."

He walked into the crowd, opened his Eyes of Golden Flame and saw ahead, the mountain radiating blood light, thickly entangled.

Some Taoists desperately tried to move some rocks, but were stuck by the blood light, unable to move them.

Sun Wukong's eyes dimmed, "The rest of you need not move it, step back."

Although confused, the crowd retreated.

Sun Wukong soared into the sky, his gaze fixed on the high mountain, raised a hand and Immortal Text flashed, forming into a mountain in midair, rumbling as it moved.

This mountain mirrored the one underground, Sun Wukong reached out his hand, stone after stone soaring up, buzzing loudly, relocated ten miles away on the ground.

The entire ground shook, causing all the surrounding Taoists to be greatly alarmed.

"The Heavenly Emperor is too powerful!"

"Quickly, retreat further!"

They moved twenty miles away, watching Sun Wukong with awe, seeing the mountain shrink gradually revealing its interior.

That day, another massive stone was moved, a fierce aura suddenly swept out, turning into a blood light, dyeing the whole sky red.

"Such a strong demonic aura!"

The people were frightened and retreated another ten miles.

Sun Wukong moved another big stone.

Suddenly, with a bang, a dark light flew from the crevice of the great stone, heading into the distance.

"What is that!"

The crowd looked on.

"Xingtian."

Sun Wukong revealed a smile, "It is indeed him."

"Follow up."

He shouted loudly, and all Taoists followed the shadow, returning to where Xingtian's body was located.

Sun Wukong was the first to return and immediately saw a giant emitting a terrifying war intent standing there, his eyes flashing with flames.

"You are the War God Xingtian."

He asked.

"Yes."

Xingtian nodded and asked Sun Wukong, "What is your name?"

"Sun Wukong."

"Sun Wukong..."

Xingtian muttered twice, commenting it was a good name.

"You, who are less than two hundred years old, possess such divine skills, truly unparalleled in the world."

Xingtian then said, "I have cultivated for one hundred and sixty thousand years, and at my peak, I was only comparable to you."

Sun Wukong nodded.

He was surprised that Xingtian could see through his age at a glance.

Sun Wukong observed Xingtian; although his war intent was formidable, his brow was dim, with a flicker of flame, as if it would extinguish at any moment.

Sun Wukong sighed, the Xingtian in front of him lived only because of a lingering soul fragment, and would soon extinguish.

"Do you have anything you wish to ask?"

Xingtian asked.

"I want to inquire about the matters regarding the Venerable."

Sun Wukong seized the moment.

Xingtian had fought against the Venerable and should know about him.

But Xingtian shook his head.

"I also know very little about the Venerable,"

he said. "I can only tell you, the strength of the Venerable is beyond your imagination, and it is impractical to think of defeating him with your strength alone."

Sun Wukong nodded.

"Thank you for retrieving my head."

The flame at Xingtian's brow quickly withered as he spoke, "Your intent to battle is too strong, I will impart a cultivation technique to you, making it easier to control."

He stretched out a finger and a cultivation technique transmitted into Sun Wukong's heart.

Sun Wukong was startled.

"This is a cultivation technique from the Monument."

Xingtian said, "There is a great secret in Chaos, even the Heavenly Court has not uncovered it; if you have a chance in the future, seek the undying populace to learn more."

"Who are the undying populace?"

Sun Wukong asked, but Xingtian could no longer speak and vanished as a light.

A generation's War God, just like that, fell.

Seeing him disappear, everyone could not help but feel melancholy.

"Your Majesty."

Nan Ming approached Sun Wukong's side, "Is the matter here complete?"

"Yes."

Sun Wukong nodded, then looked up at the sky where a Merit Cloud appeared.

The vast Merit descended, falling upon many Taoists.

The greatest threat in this world was Xingtian, and with his problem removed, there was no longer any other threat.

Sun Wukong prepared to leave, but before doing so, he had to reestablish order.

The Taoists who received the merit were the talents he cultivated.

This world's beings lacked cohesion; just the threat of a Demon King made every nation submit, incomparable to the worlds Sun Wukong had passed through before.

If any crises arose, this place would surely fall.

Sun Wukong set about restoring order.

He had become proficient at this task and established a new system in just a few months.

The new system was established, and recruited talents were mostly merited Taoists, all assessed by Immortal Zhenyuan without any issues, but lacking a leader.

Before leaving, Immortal Zhenyuan found Sun Wukong.

"Although rules are set, these Taoists might not obey each other."

Sun Wukong nodded.

He had searched for several days but had not found a suitable person, so he called Nan Ming.

"Could you stay here? When I reorganize the Heavenly Court later, I'll find you again."

Sun Wukong spoke.

"This..."

Nan Ming hesitated to stay, but having seen Sun Wukong's prowess throughout their journey,

Though they were disciples of the Heavenly Venerate, they couldn't really assist Sun Wukong in matters; after some thought, they agreed to stay.

"Great kindness."

Thus, Sun Wukong left Nan Ming there, joined by Immortal Zhenyuan, taking the Heavenly Dog and Heavenly Horse, and embarked on a new journey.
