The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 91: Bearing Original Sin

Full Moon Night

Immortal Zhen Yuan was meditating in the Immortal Palace.

From the hour of Xu to the hour of Zi, yet still, there was no response.

Immortal Zhen Yuan opened his eyes and asked, "How long does it take to awaken the Hidden Soul?"

"It's not that easy."

A maiden nearby answered, "Xingtian, the War God of the Heavenly Court, also spent hundreds of full moon nights."

"Does that mean it'll take several years?"

Immortal Zhen Yuan was shocked and further inquired, "How long did the Brahma Void Heavenly Emperor take?"

"About half a year."

The maiden answered.

"Then I only need half a year."

Immortal Zhen Yuan stated and resumed his cultivation.

His Divine Soul spread out, enveloping the entire Immortal Palace.

Meanwhile, Sun Wukong was seated above the vast lake surface, his Immortal Energy was vast like an ocean, permeating the winds for thousands of miles, nothing in the world could escape his sense.

His Divine Skills were unmatched, unparalleled.

Approaching the Chou hour, the mists over Langya Pond churned, surrounding him with an indescribable aura.

Sun Wukong opened his eyes, his right eye as usual, but a silver streak flashed through his left pupil, drawing in the mysterious aura, piercing through time and space.

He saw a whole new world, boundless and limitless, all his external perceptions disappeared.

Sun Wukong could not possibly lose his sense of Immortal Energy.

He knew what his left eye saw was not Langya Pond, but another dimension.

Sun Wukong sat in the rift, feeling as if his body would tear apart, with the Spiritual Energy from Langya Pond surging fiercely, protecting him from harm.

"So Langya Pond also serves this purpose."

Sun Wukong thought, then a drop of his Essence Blood dripped from his fingertip, floating in midair.

The drop of blood bathed in brilliance, majestic and splendid, a treasure of heaven and earth, capable of enlivening all beings.

Numerous phantom shades sensed the power of the blood, emerging from the void, crazily rushing towards the drop.

A golden light surged from Sun Wukong's body, scattering the phantoms.

"Is it coming?"

Sun Wukong looked towards the golden light.

The golden light fused with the drop of blood, forming a golden figure.

It was a Stone Monkey, wearing a Golden Crown, Golden Armor, and Cloud Shoes, with golden flames flowing in his eyes.

Behind him, Divine Rings bloomed, his whole being like a blazing War God, dazzling and intimidating.

A profound and mystical feeling rose in Sun Wukong's heart; the Hidden Soul was not separate from him, it was indeed himself.

His current state was like being hypnotized, conversing with his inner self.

"So that's how it is."

Sun Wukong and the Stone Monkey did not speak; they simply sat down cross-legged, facing each other, and began to cultivate.

With the aid of the Stone Monkey, Sun Wukong felt as though he merged with that space.

Strange totems appeared in his mind, with characters and carvings, forming countless Demon Beasts running on the earth.

They collided, battled, divine light bloomed, the earth roared, and the sky trembled.

During the battle, the Demon Beasts continually transformed, growing from weak to strong, causing increasingly severe damage, cracks appeared in the ground and sky, and all beings in the world withered.

What world is this.

Sun Wukong thought, and the next moment, he was expelled.

When he opened his eyes again, Sun Wukong found the Stone Monkey had vanished.

It was already daylight, and it was as if he had dreamt, leaving no trace.

Sun Wukong returned to the Immortal Palace.

"Did the Venerable Brother succeed?"

Immortal Zhen Yuan approached and said, "The technique of Shattering Void is too difficult."

Sun Wukong nodded in agreement, "That space is extremely hard to breakthrough."

It was one of the hardest spells he had ever learned.

"Space?"

Immortal Zhen Yuan was stunned, "Did Venerable Brother awaken the Hidden Soul?"

"Yes."

Sun Wukong nodded, slightly puzzled, "Hasn't the Immortal succeeded yet?"

Immortal Zhen Yuan glared at the maiden.

The maiden looked astonished, unable to believe.

The master had awakened the Hidden Soul overnight?

She realized that her estimation of Sun Wukong was still too low.

Immortal Zhen Yuan quickly accepted the reality.

"Little brother has surprised me not just once or twice."

Thinking this, he then asked Sun Wukong, "Little brother, can you return to the Three Realms now?"

"Not so soon."

Sun Wukong shook his head, "I haven't yet entered that space, and even if I do, finding a path through it would be extremely difficult."

He looked at the maid.

The maid nodded, "Master still needs to cultivate."

"We'll have to stay here for a few more months."

Sun Wukong told Immortal Zhen Yuan.

Aside from the time required for cultivation, maintaining the Hidden Soul also consumes a great deal of Spiritual Energy.

In half a night, Sun Wukong had used up half a month's worth of Spiritual Energy accumulated in Langya Pond.

He had to stay a few more days to exchange time for results.

Brahma Void Heavenly Court

The White Robed Venerate woke up from meditation

"All beings in Ghost Mansion wish to convert to our faith."

He spoke.

"Congratulations, Venerable."

'Jin Chanzi' clasped his hands in front of him and spoke respectfully.

The Venerable glanced at 'Jin Chanzi', "With this appearance, what is your purpose?"

"Reporting to the Venerable."

Jin Chanzi said, "This is an acquaintance of Sun Wukong."

"Acquaintance?"

A flash of light crossed the Venerable's eyes, as if he had thought of something.

"Venerable..."

Following that, 'Jin Chanzi' reported to him, "After Sun Wukong left, I could no longer locate him."

"I sensed disturbances in the void."

The White Robed Venerate replied, "It's mostly Sun Wukong, he intends to break through the void."

Such a power would bring disaster.

The White Robed Venerate was very clear on this.

"Sun Wukong is clever and talented. If he succeeds in his cultivation, he will be more difficult to handle."

The White Robed Venerate extended his hand, producing a dazzling Pagoda.

"This Pagoda is a holy relic of the Human Clan, used by the Brahma Void Heavenly Emperor to suppress demons in the past, refined by me, and now I give it to you."

The Venerable handed the Pagoda to Jin Chanzi, saying, "Although Sun Wukong is a Heavenly Emperor, he is ultimately a demon, take it and use it to suppress him, and you will succeed."

Jin Chanzi carefully took the Pagoda.

"If you can't suppress him, you must also stop his cultivation."

The Venerate added, "If he succeeds in his cultivation and summons the cohort of immortals, it will be very difficult for us to deal with."

Jin Chanzi quickly nodded.

"I see that Sun Wukong has a Buddha's Heart, why doesn't the Venerable personally enlighten him?"

He asked again.

"The beings of Ghost Mansion have converted, but the Pure Land is yet to be established, I still need time."

The White Robed Venerate said, "Sun Wukong is stubborn in his beliefs, and I cannot enlighten him."

Jin Chanzi nodded, picked up the Pagoda, and flew away from the Heavenly Court.

The White Robed Venerate watched him leave and slowly closed his eyes.

In Ghost Mansion, a powerful fluctuation swept across the Star Officials.

Below the Holy Mountain, a million monks sat in front of the temple, reciting scriptures.

After the fluctuations, the Venerable appeared, surrounded by endless Buddha Light, making him immensely sacred, and the monks knelt on the ground full of awe.

"You have all converted the world's people for me and have great merit, hence you shall be a part of the Heavenly Court."

After the Venerable spoke, Buddha Light suddenly fell from the sky, landing on some people and transforming into glowing Kasayas.

"Thank you, Venerable!"

Those who received the Kasayas thanked the Venerable.

"Indeed, they are all Arhats."

The Venerable thought to himself, with some regrets.

Had it not been for the original sin he carried, he would have already converted the entire Brahma Void Heavenly Court.
