The Marching Cloud progresses through the vast Light River.
In the boundless Light River, various illusory scenes appear from time to time, bizarre and fascinating, with immortals and soldiers walking along, feeling delighted and amazed.
"This place seems not just a passage, but a world."
Someone said.
"This place is indeed magical."
Gouchen God looked over the Light River: "Your Majesty, what is it called?"
"I don't know."
Sun Wukong answered: "All I know is that this place was originally part of the Hongmeng World."
"Hongmeng World?"
Gouchen was somewhat puzzled: "What is that?"
"It's the prehistoric world."
Jade Emperor interjected.
Sun Wukong turned his head to him: "Jade Emperor, you know about the Hongmeng World?"
"Somewhat heard of it."
Jade Emperor nodded: "Before attaining the Dao, I had heard of this name, but only the name."
What he knew about the Hongmeng World was a world that existed before the birth of the Three Realms, much older than the world where the small Phoenix lived, and its true nature was unknown to anyone.
"Imperial Brother, what do you know?"
With curiosity towards the Hongmeng World, Jade Emperor couldn't help but inquire from Sun Wukong.
"I guess the Hongmeng was the world before Chaos."
Sun Wukong answered: "I've traveled through many Star Palaces, analyzing the memorials, discovering the patterns within them, that the myriad of small worlds in this Chaos originally belonged to the same world."
This was the most likely answer he had thought of.
Jade Emperor looked towards the Light River, where shadows of never-before-seen demon beasts dashed through.
"So it seems, these scenes are..."
"Probably the Chaos from ancient times."
Sun Wukong nodded, replying: "Back then, the Chaos was a whole, vast and boundless, beyond our imagination."
All immortals were astonished, feeling it incredible.
They continued to inquire, but that was as much as Sun Wukong knew.
While everyone was enthusiastically discussing the Hongmeng, they suddenly noticed ahead the Light Sea steaming, Spiritual Energy surged tumultuously, and a myriad of scenes emerged, evolving into a new world.
This new world was shrouded in clouds and mist, with Auspicious Light flowing, emitting various sounds, seemingly calling them to enter.
Jade Emperor stopped advancing.
"There is actually such a world here."
He said with curiosity: "Imperial Brother, can we go in and take a look?"
Sun Wukong slightly frowned; these spectacles often appeared in this Light River, depicting scenes from countless years ago, but he had never seen it evolve into a world.
This world lay ahead, making it impossible not to enter.
"Go in."
Sun Wukong led the immortals through the mist, finally seeing the true face of this world.
It was a valley, filled with robust ancient trees, their branches like jade, emanating auspicious radiance.
"Your Majesty, these ancient trees are peculiar."
Gouchen God said to Sun Wukong: "The light they emit is not ordinary, too oppressive, almost as if to seize one's spirit, we better leave soon!"
Sun Wukong looked back and saw many Heavenly Soldiers and Generals captivated by the auspicious light of the ancient trees, looking somewhat dazed.
"Snap out of it!"
Sun Wukong hastily shot out two Immortal Talismans, ripples like a clear spring emanated from the talismans, pulling the dazed Heavenly Soldiers and Generals back to reality.
"Thank you, Heavenly Emperor!"
The Heavenly Soldiers and Generals regained their senses, breaking out in a cold sweat.
"Follow me!"
Sun Wukong did not waste any time talking, he dashed forward, leading the Immortals onwards.
After flying an unknown distance, a massive object appeared ahead, as large as a hill. As the Immortals flew closer, it turned out to be a giant skeleton of a Devil.
The skeleton was enormously huge, standing at the center of the valley, its blue light spreading out like a substance.
It turned out that the light from the ancient trees in the valley all originated from this skeleton.
"This is not a Devil from our time."
Sun Wukong, taking no chances, said, "Let's not get close, just fly past it from the side."
The Immortals nodded unanimously and, together with him, circled around the hill-like skeleton and flew towards the distance.
Just as they passed the skeleton and the Immortals were about to breathe a sigh of relief, suddenly, a surge of red light rose from behind them, leaving the Immortals feeling terrified, with a chill piercing deep into their hearts.
"Your Majesty!"
Heavenly King Li turned his head back, his tone becoming urgent: "The Devil is not dead!"
Sun Wukong turned around to look; amidst the skeleton, a beam of red light rose, intensely blazing.
"That's just a drop of Essence Blood."
His eyes flickering with golden light, he said: "The Devil is already dead, but it refuses to perish completely, leaving behind a drop of Essence Blood trying to absorb more power to resurrect."
The Immortals were all stunned.
"How is it absorbing power?"
Heavenly King Li asked a foolish question.
Before Sun Wukong could answer, a terrifying force of attraction came from the skeleton, warping the entire valley, disrupting the Marching Cloud, and the Heavenly Soldiers and Generals were uncontrollably drawn towards the skeleton.
"It's sucking us in!"
"Quick, dodge!"
The Heavenly Soldiers and Generals were terrified, each employing their Divine Skills trying to escape the attraction, but all their Divine Skills, when deployed, were ineffective like stones sinking in the sea.
The skeleton possessed immense Divine Skills, like a Giant Dragon drawing water, intending to suck everyone in.
"Your Majesty, this is bad!"
Heavenly King Li tried to protect the Marching Cloud with the Pagoda, but to no avail.
He urgently shouted, "This Devil is using an unknown Immortal Technique, I can't counter it."
"Move your Pagoda, it's blocking me!"
Sun Wukong told Heavenly King Li to move the Pagoda aside, then suddenly stretched out his hand, obscuring the sky, a brilliant light illuminating the valley, with fierce flames covering the skeleton.
With a loud "bang," the skeleton roared, vibrating intensely, then cracked and disintegrated into blue ashes.
The red light, along with the skeleton, dimmed and disappeared.
"It's dead."
Sun Wukong withdrew his hand and somberly said, "Let's go."
The Immortals reorganized the Marching Cloud and followed Sun Wukong out of the valley.
Just as they left, the valley roared and disappeared into the Light River.
The Jade Emperor turned to look at the scene and asked Sun Wukong, "Imperial Brother, what was that Devil exactly?"
"It was probably a Giant Turtle from the Hongmeng."
Sun Wukong answered.
At the moment he destroyed the skeleton, he had seen a vision.
It was a vision from eons ago, a Giant Turtle rushing into this space to flee a war, yet still affected by a massive explosion from the outside world, dying here.
"Did this also happen in the Hongmeng World?"
Sun Wukong thought to himself, his understanding of this place was still too limited.
What kind of strength do the creatures of the Hongmeng World possess? This turtle had been dead for who knows how many tens of thousands of years, yet its Essence Blood still remained, and so powerfully at that.
In the vision he saw, although the turtle was huge, its voice was juvenile, calling it a terrifying Devil seemed more like referring to a powerless little turtle.
A little turtle had such power?
Sun Wukong couldn't imagine.
"Let's go."
He didn't dare to keep so many people in the Light River for long and quickly flew away into the distance.
