The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 123: This is Your Way

The sky trembled violently, flames blazed fiercely, and two light shadows collided in the sea of fire, exploding into resplendent light.

They kept colliding, separating, and colliding again, as if it were endless.

"Don't you care about those Heavenly Soldiers and Generals anymore?"

Immortal Zhenyuan's body was in severe pain, and he was almost unable to hold on.

"Less nonsense."

Sun Wukong attacked relentlessly.

Giant palms accompanied by roaring winds struck at Immortal Zhenyuan, each impact like a heavy hammer smashing down, threatening to shatter his bones.

"This guy..."

Immortal Zhenyuan fumed internally, "Isn't he supposed to remember our past relationships?"

Initially, he collided with Sun Wukong with high spirits, but now, he could no longer bear it and had only one choice.

"Run!"

Immortal Zhenyuan turned into a streak of silver light and flew into the sky.

Sun Wukong promptly followed.

He wasn't worried about the situation on the battlefield.

On the battlefield, a staggering number of Buddha's disciples had joined, and the Heavenly Soldiers and Generals were at a disadvantage at first, with spells flying everywhere, deafening booms, and sparks flying all over.

But moments later, under the leadership of several Heavenly Venerates, the hundred thousand Heavenly Soldiers and Generals formed a unified front, with golden light flowing, creating a golden sea of light to withstand the Buddha's disciples' assault.

Gouchen God had already knocked down countless Buddha's disciples in the air.

"My power is increasing!"

He exclaimed, "The power of the White Robed Venerate is limited and cannot suppress us indefinitely."

"That's because the Imperial Brother has drawn his attention."

Jade Emperor said, "Now we're under less pressure and can crush them."

They seized the opportunity and gradually turned the tide of the battlefield.

Faced with the overwhelming Buddha's disciples, the Immortals of the Three Realms, though heavily surrounded, never lost their fighting spirit.

The White Robed Venerate frowned seeing this scene.

His numerous Buddha's disciples lacked a pivotal figure like Jade Emperor and others who could change the situation, unable to gain a decisive advantage.

The lack of powerful subordinates was his biggest problem.

"Perhaps we should take action."

The Buddha Beads on White Robed Venerate's chest spoke, "Even if we don't deal with Sun Wukong, if you hand those people over to us, we'd be happy to help!"

"No need."

The White Robed Venerate replied, "If you get hurt and the Venerates notice, it won't be good."

"You're overly cautious and think too highly of them."

The Buddha Beads laughed, how could mere Heavenly Venerates possibly harm them?

The White Robed Venerate's cautious actions, always walking on thin ice, how could he succeed?

The Buddha Beads scorned in their hearts but said no more.

In the sky, the Buddha's disciples surged like a golden torrent, endlessly rushing toward the Immortals of the Three Realms.

After repeated collisions, these Buddha's disciples turned into flames and plummeted to the ground.

"If only I could have this power."

White Robed Venerate thought, if he had the power of the Three Realms, why would he be restrained by a few Buddha Beads.

He looked up again, his gaze fixed on Sun Wukong.

White Robed Venerate knew clearly that if he could obtain Sun Wukong, the Three Realms would be his.

However, acquiring Sun Wukong was immensely difficult!

The War God Seal's battle intent was incredibly fierce, enabling anyone who accepted it to be reborn and gain more than twice their usual strength.

Sun Wukong, a natural-born fighter, found this temptation even harder to resist.

"You could easily defeat me by merging with it, why not follow your heart's desire?"

The White Robed Venerate was utterly puzzled.

The War God Seal had shone for a long time but had still not turned Sun Wukong into a war god—if so...

White Robed Venerate lowered his head, overlooking the mist-enshrouded earth.

"Dispel the Barrier."

The Buddha commanded.

Some of his disciples immediately drove the lotuses to the ground, dispersing the clouds.

As the clouds cleared, in an instant, numerous pavilions and terraces appeared, with boundless crowds standing outside the buildings, dotting the mountains like specks across the vast land.

These people all looked up at the sky with faces full of fear and hatred.

Bright flames shot across the sky, occasionally shattering into fragments of light that fell to the ground, igniting battles and smoke.

High above, Sun Wukong suddenly stopped.

He looked down at the ground.

"This is our chance!"

Immortal Zhen Yuan turned around and threw a punch, as if in retaliation, with the force of it as heavy as Tai Mountain.

"Clang!" Sun Wukong blocked the punch with Jingu Bang.

Immortal Zhen Yuan did not expect him to react so quickly, his body fell like a meteor to the earth, creating a large crater.

He staggered a bit, then stood up from the bottom of the crater, suddenly coughing out a mouthful of fresh blood.

Sun Wukong descended.

He saw countless people rushing over, surrounding the crater to protect Immortal Zhen Yuan.

Sun Wukong looked at these people, sparks flying in his eyes.

"Move aside!"

He said coldly, "This is a war of the Immortals, not something you mortals can interfere with!"

Standing in front of him were men, women, and children, all mere mortals!

Why were there mortals in Pure Land!

A flame rose in Sun Wukong's heart.

"Devil, stop harming him!"

"This is our Star Official, get out of here!"

The mortals barred Sun Wukong's path, their eyes filled with hatred and not a single one fleeing.

They stood like warriors, holding their ground with a resolute will from their combined strength.

Sun Wukong could feel that willpower, intense and resonating with the Heavenly Dao within him, reminding him of the Wanling civilians he fought alongside against the Heavenly Court.

"This is a holy war!"

Suddenly someone yelled loudly, "Through this battle, we shall ascend to Pure Land early!"

They shouted and charged at Sun Wukong.

Sun Wukong swung his staff, the dust lifted by the fierce wind clouding the skies.

When another gust blew all the dust away, there was no one left in front of Sun Wukong.

The crowd had been blown far back, but quickly they helped each other up and charged back with undeterred courage.

Sun Wukong recognized this courage.

Countless people rushing at him seemed to emit light from their eyes.

Sun Wukong also recognized this light; it was the light of resistance, of wanting to protect something, and its relentless perseverance, which had once been on his side.

Now those lights—were opposing him.

The battle above had sown seeds of hatred in the hearts of these mortals.

Why?

Why did it turn out this way?

Sun Wukong swung his staff again, repelling the crowd once more.

Flames rose in his heart, growing fiercer.

"Venerable, is this your way?"

Sun Wukong raised his head, looking at the White Robed Venerate, "This war has nothing to do with mortals, so why involve them!"

"Finally angry..."

The White Robed Venerate watched Sun Wukong, his body radiant with a blazing light, as bright as the brightest sun in the world.

He was angry, and that was good.

The White Robed Venerate spoke, "This is battle for the survival of the Heavenly Court."

He added, "All beings must be sacrificed for the Heavenly Court, this too is their path to enlightenment."
