The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 135: I'm Going Too

Vast Chaos, boundless and immense.

Just as they were about to leave the void, Daji looked back but saw nothing.

"This road is so peaceful."

Daji said.

"It's not peaceful, we're just luckier this time."

The Jade Emperor replied, the accident last time left a deep impression on him.

But such accidents are rare, everything in the void has been extinguished, the chances of anything unusual happening are slim.

The mighty team began to pass through the Light Gate and exit.

After the blanketing white light, everyone looked forward and all gasped.

Roaring sounds filled the distant Chaos, war flames blazed, swathes of light streaked across the sky, like a sea of fire in the heavens.

"The war has already started."

The Jade Emperor said: "Go support them."

At his command, everyone shouted and flew towards the Chaos.

Luminous brilliance emerged in swathes within the Chaos, Immortal Law and Buddha Light intertwined, clashing fiercely amidst the flames of war.

This war was exceedingly brutal, with many who had achieved immortality and enlightenment falling one by one.

On the battlefield, Gouchen, upon seeing the arrival of the Jade Emperor and others, wielded his Heavy Sword, carving a path through the masses.

"Your Majesty, you have finally returned."

He was wrapped in divine light, like a dazzling sun, flying before the Jade Emperor, he said: "The Buddha is protecting the Star Palace, telling you to come and find him."

"Find him?"

The Jade Emperor frowned slightly.

"Where is the Great King?"

Daji flew up to Gouchen and asked.

"The Heavenly Emperor is in the Brahma Void Heavenly Court."

Gouchen unleashed a sword strike, a sweeping heavenly sword light, clearing the advancing Buddhists: "He's buying us time!"

"What the Buddha wants to tell me is probably about this."

The Jade Emperor realized and said: "Daji, come with me!"

"Okay."

Daji nodded and followed the Jade Emperor down to the Star Palace.

She glanced back once more, the dazzling light flowed around Gouchen, easily slaying all the approaching Buddhists.

"Gouchen God looks so stunning today!"

Daji couldn't help but say.

"That is the light of the War God."

Without turning back, the Jade Emperor said: "Your Great King has it now too."

Daji was startled.

The two descended to the Star Palace and found the Buddha.

"This Star Palace doesn't need all of us to guard it."

The Buddha said: "At least one must go to the Brahma Void Heavenly Court."

The Jade Emperor nodded: "But it's better to first eliminate the threats here."

"That is too passive."

The Buddha shook his head and led them towards the Mysterious Light Mirror: "The Heavenly Court also needs people."

The Jade Emperor and Daji looked into the Mysterious Light Mirror and their pupils shrank involuntarily.

In the mirror, the Brahma Void Heavenly Court was engulfed in a sea of flames, dozens of Star Palaces enveloped by war fires, filled with an ominous aura.

Two rapidly intertwining lights emitted terrifying luminescence, creating massive rifts in the Chaos.

Both the Jade Emperor and Daji had never seen such an impressive battle and were somewhat shocked.

"Is that the Great King?"

Daji recognized one of the lights was indeed Sun Wukong.

"What protective spells does that Taoist have?"

The Jade Emperor also asked: "It seems extraordinary."

He had experienced Sun Wukong's attacks; the Chaos trembled under the Jingu Bang, yet the Taoist's Protective Red Light remained unscathed, which was truly unimaginable.

"That's not a spell."

The Buddha said: "That is the Life Spirit Mark, although the origins of that person are unknown, with the protection of countless living beings, they cannot be harmed."

The Buddha felt that if it were not for Sun Wukong, absolutely no one would be able to fight until now.

"The Great King is injured, he is alright, isn't he?"

After watching for a while, Daji couldn't help but worry.

Sun Wukong couldn't harm the Taoist but was injured by him, many wounds appearing on his body.

Buddha shook his head: "Look closely, he's fine."

Daji looked closely and saw that the wounds on Sun Wukong's body were rapidly healing.

After healing, the wounds disappeared, and his hair shimmered with golden light, full of spiritual energy.

"He's undergoing a transformation amidst the battle."

Buddha said.

Sun Wukong, facing a formidable enemy, was transforming, his whole body dazzling as if reborn through fire.

The long stick in his hands was like a colossal pillar holding up the sky, dominating the battlefield like a deity and causing Chaos to roar.

"So cool..."

Daji admired Sun Wukong's figure from behind, feeling that his Heavenly Dao had grown once again.

Jade Emperor began to laugh: "The Imperial Brother remains invincible in battle; it seems there's no need for worry."

"The White Robed Venerate has yet to take action; the outcome is still uncertain."

Buddha shook his head and said: "However, we also can't let others interfere."

Sun Wukong's battle was too fearsome, the Heavenly Soldiers and Generals couldn't be involved, or else they would merely serve as decorative fireworks.

"What we need to do is only..."

A flash of light gleamed in Buddha's eyes as he said: "Watch."

Jade Emperor and Daji looked toward the Mysterious Light Mirror and saw a vast expanse of golden clouds converging towards the Light Gate.

Hum!

Sun Wukong was entangled by a Taoist and couldn't move to intercept, so he could only throw his Jingu Bang.

The Jingu Bang blazed a trail through the clouds and split the sky, Buddha Light rained down, showers of Buddhas' children fell from the clouds.

Nevertheless, a small part of the golden clouds at the forefront managed to enter the Light Gate and disappeared.

"These Buddhas' children that slipped through are the enemy we're facing now."

Buddha said.

Daji's eyes widened in surprise: "You mean the enemies above... all slipped through the Great King's fingers?"

"Yes."

Buddha nodded.

Daji showed an incredulous expression.

She had seen it clearly; Sun Wukong's Jingu Bang had knocked down the majority of the golden clouds, with only a very small portion actually making its way through.

This tiny fraction had managed to tie down so many of them?

There were hundreds of thousands of Buddhas' children in the heavens!

"Just how strong is the Great King now!"

Daji was shocked.

"So that's how it is."

Jade Emperor came to a realization: "The Imperial Brother has too much to consider, his hands are tied. We should go and stop those Buddhas' children from coming over."

"Exactly."

Buddha nodded: "One of us must go there."

"If you want to reach the Heavenly Court, get past us first!"

A cold voice rang out: "We will not let you pass!"

Jade Emperor and Buddha turned to see several Golden Bodhisattvas descending from the heavens.

"Who are you?"

The two asked, wondering how Gouchen God had allowed someone past.

"We are Bodhisattvas from the star constellation of Willow, we come traversing the Chaos."

The Bodhisattvas said: "It's futile to block the gate, Bodhisattvas from the surrounding star constellations are all on their way."

Suddenly an avatar flew out from the Jade Emperor's body, instantly soaring from the ground to the skies, taking the Bodhisattvas by surprise.

"You..."

"Let's talk outside!"

The Jade Emperor's avatar swung bare hands with explosive power, and without giving the Bodhisattvas a chance to react, sent them flying.

The avatar immediately followed those Bodhisattvas into the Chaos.

"I almost forgot about the others from the star constellations."

Jade Emperor's original body addressed Buddha: "I will stay here; you go to the Heavenly Court."

"Very good."

Buddha called some Buddhas' children to him, and rose up, flying towards Chaos.

Daji hesitated momentarily.

"Wait, I'm coming too!"

She followed after Buddha.
