The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 156: The Pharmacy's Bracelet

Chaos, silent and soundless.

Sun Wukong launched an Immortal Talisman, like an arrow leaving the bow, shooting vigorously into the void.

An Immortal Island shrouded in mist was struck out by the Immortal Talisman.

"Let's go."

He led the people flying into the Immortal Island.

Those accompanying him this time included Ao Luan, Xuan Yuan and his disciple, along with Emperor Yao, Gouchen God, and Emperor Qinghua.

"Welcome, Heavenly Emperor Sun!"

The Golden Boy and Jade Girl stood on the Immortal Island to greet them.

"Heavenly Emperor Sun, there are too many people this time,"

the Golden Boy said.

The Jade Girl glanced at everyone: "The master only allowed you to bring one person inside."

"One person?"

Sun Wukong was surprised; there were quite a few people with him last time, but the shopkeeper did not make such a request.

Sun Wukong surveyed everyone and then set his gaze on Ao Luan: "Ao Luan, you come with me, the others wait outside."

"Is this okay?"

Ao Luan was a little surprised.

Discussing the matter of that egg, clearly Emperor Yao and the genuine Xuan Yuan would be more useful.

"No matter."

Sun Wukong nodded.

He wanted Ao Luan to have more exposure to the figures within the Chaos.

The two delved deep into the Immortal Island, finding the pharmacy amidst the green mountains, clear waters, and willows.

In the pharmacy, the Shopkeeper Immortal held a rabbit in his arms.

"Congratulations to Heavenly Emperor Sun for the battle victory."

Upon seeing Sun Wukong, he said, "I never would have thought you could defeat the White Robed Venerate."

The White Robed Venerate was such a figure; the Shopkeeper Immortal was certain Sun Wukong would undoubtedly be defeated.

But Sun Wukong actually won, and the Shopkeeper Immortal, while greatly surprised, also had to reassess Sun Wukong.

"What brings Heavenly Emperor Sun this time?"

the Shopkeeper Immortal asked.

Sun Wukong looked at the rabbit in the Shopkeeper Immortal's arms: "What kind of rabbit is this?"

"This is something a customer left here,"

the Shopkeeper Immortal said, "We are helping to take care of it for some time."

Sun Wukong narrowed his eyes and sized up the rabbit.

The rabbit also looked at him with its red eyes.

There was a slow bloom of golden light in Sun Wukong's eyes.

Startled by this, the rabbit instantly hopped out of the Shopkeeper Immortal's embrace and escaped.

"Now there are no outsiders."

Sun Wukong sat down and asked, "I want to inquire about the Undying Folk."

"The Undying Folk?"

The Shopkeeper Immortal's mind raced: "How much do you know?"

Sun Wukong shared the information he knew with the Shopkeeper Immortal.

"So it is."

The Shopkeeper Immortal heaved a sigh of relief internally and said, "You don't need to find the Undying Folk to understand the use of that egg."

Sun Wukong frowned: "You know it?"

"I indeed know,"

the Shopkeeper Immortal answered, "Heavenly Emperor Sun doesn't need to hurry; when the time comes, that egg will naturally guide you to find Hongmeng Land."

Sun Wukong was not satisfied with his response: "When is the time 'when it comes'?"

The Shopkeeper Immortal smiled without a word.

"What do you want?"

Sun Wukong understood he was going to set conditions.

"Nothing much,"

the Shopkeeper Immortal said, extending his hand to give Sun Wukong something: "I hope you can wear this."

Sun Wukong received it; it was a bracelet that looked ordinary.

He observed it for a long time with his Eyes of Golden Flame and found nothing unusual: "What is this?"

"This bracelet is made from the branch of a Qian Tree,"

the Shopkeeper Immortal said, "If you wear it, I will be able to sense your location."

Sun Wukong looked towards the Shopkeeper Immortal: "What do you intend to do?"

"I am also interested in that Hongmeng Land."

Immortal Qian replied, "When Heavenly Emperor Sun Wukong finds it, I also want to go have a look."

Sun Wukong looked at Immortal Qian, finding it a bit difficult to discern the shopkeeper's thoughts.

Clearly, Immortal Qian harbored designs on Hongmeng Land, but his straightforward declaration stirred confusion in Sun Wukong's heart.

Sun Wukong's thoughts flickered.

"Alright."

He put on the bracelet.

A flash of surprise crossed Immortal Qian's eyes: "Won't you reconsider?"

"It would be superfluous."

Sun Wukong stated: "Whether it's a blessing or a curse, we will know when the time comes."

Immortal Qian inwardly sighed, truly a man who defeated the White Robed Venerate.

Sun Wukong's confidence was also the reason for his strength.

"Only when you become an Overlord will that egg guide you."

Then, Immortal Qian stroked his beard, answering Sun Wukong's initial question, "As for the Overlord, the specific criteria are unknown, but at the very least, one must rule over a hundred Star Palaces."

To command a hundred Star Palaces, worshipped by countless beings, only then one might gain recognition from that egg.

"Your current level is not sufficient."

Immortal Qian finally said.

This caused Ao Luan to frown: "My brother is the master of the Heavenly Court, isn't that enough?"

"Not yet."

Immortal Qian said, "There are many Star Palaces in the Heavenly Court not ruled by the White Robed Venerate."

"I understand now."

Sun Wukong nodded.

The White Robed Venerate had only conquered a small part of the Brahma Void Heavenly Court; there were still many areas currently shrouded in darkness.

Sun Wukong originally wanted to leave these areas to Ao Luan to handle, but now it seemed he had to deal with them as soon as possible.

"Ao Luan, let's go."

Sun Wukong called to Ao Luan, bid farewell to Immortal Qian, and left Immortal Island.

After leaving Immortal Island, everyone understood the situation and were somewhat worried.

"What should we do?"

Gouchen said, "Your Majesty becoming an Overlord, who knows how long that will take."

Everyone looked solemn.

"Don't worry."

Sun Wukong spoke up, saying, "I have Seventy-Two Transformations. Just dispatching incarnations will save time."

"Seventy-Two Transformations?"

Emperor Qinghua frowned, "Will that work?"

"Not before."

Sun Wukong stopped in his tracks, saying, "But now it will."

He emitted a fiery light, and a brilliant object flew from the top of his head.

"The Jade Seal!"

The crowd looked over.

The Brahma Void Jade Seal emitted a dazzling light, like the stars of the heavens shining down, intertwining with Sun Wukong's fiery glow, sparkling and harmonious.

In the flames, a myriad of figures emerged with astonishing presence, a full three thousand of them blinding onlookers who could not keep their eyes open.

"You all go quickly."

Sun Wukong said, and those three thousand figures soared up, flying towards different destinations.

The vast radiance swept across the Chaos like a Sea of Light, a sight that left everyone in awe.

"Truly magnificent."

Xuan Yuan's true person marveled.

That sky full of departing radiance was Sun Wukong's incarnations; perhaps no one else in the entire Chaos had such ability.

"The Incarnation Technique of Your Majesty has surpassed even me."

Emperor Qinghua envied inwardly.

He had incarnations in the billions, unparalleled.

Yet his incarnations could only wander the Three Realms and could not traverse the Chaos as freely as Sun Wukong.

"Brother."

Ao Luan appeared somewhat pleased, "With such an Incarnation Technique, why should you personally search for Hongmeng Land in the future?"

"My incarnations may seem powerful, but in reality, they are weak."

Sun Wukong shook his head, "Otherwise, I wouldn't need three thousand of them."

His incarnations could traverse Chaos, but their true strength did not surpass that of an ordinary Immortal.

These three thousand incarnations, capable of conquering thirty Star Palaces, most likely would meet the criteria for an Overlord.
