The Tathāgata Must Fail

Chapter 169: The Victor is King

Heavenly Palace, Immortals left their abodes, looking towards Chaos.

Above the Nine Heavens, the terrifying aura of battle reached them, making everyone shiver in awe.

"Who is fighting?"

People looked warily towards Chaos.

At that moment, several streaks of light surged towards the Nine Heavens.

"Your Majesty."

The Immortals realized and promptly paid their respects.

Jade Emperor and Sun Wukong, among others, stood atop the clouds, looking up at the sky.

"Are the Undying Beings really fighting amongst themselves?"

The Jade Emperor asked in surprise.

"Indeed."

Sun Wukong replied.

The Jade Emperor furrowed his brows and asked again, "Can we ally with either side?"

"I'm afraid not."

Sun Wukong answered.

The two auras were both hostile; he didn't know why they had come into conflict.

Boom!

A shower of sparks suddenly fell from the sky, and Sun Wukong casually released a beam of golden light, shattering the sparks.

The sparks exploded, causing the entire Nine Heavens to appear translucent.

"Go out and deal with it."

After saying this, Sun Wukong transformed into a rainbow light and flew towards Chaos.

The Jade Emperor and the Two Cleans followed closely behind.

Chaos, where the battle raged fiercely, white warfire surged and overwhelmed all matter.

Two shadows clashed amidst the warfire, creating terrifying explosions with each impact, Spells boiling and space distorting around them, creating an appalling scene.

"How powerful."

The Jade Emperor's expression was grave.

Such powerful entities, only two figures, yet capable of destroying heavens and earth.

"There's something peculiar over there."

Sun Wukong, however, sensed a special area.

Both Undying Beings made a point to avoid that area as if protecting something.

"I'll take a look."

Sun Wukong transformed in a blink of an eye, suddenly becoming an Undying Being, his body radiating an aura of death.

"What is this..."

Before the Jade Emperor could ask, Sun Wukong had already vanished in a flash.

Meanwhile, three thousand miles away, a crow was eating sunflower seeds in its cage.

"Two Undying Beings, I wonder which one will win me over."

It watched the battlefield with interest.

Suddenly, an aura of death came from behind it, and the crow instantly felt its skin crawl, turning to look.

Another Undying Being stood behind it, curiously looking at the crow.

"Who are you?"

The crow, with its red eyes, stared at Sun Wukong: "You're not an Undying Being."

Sun Wukong's aura and guise were identical to an Undying Being, yet he couldn't fool the crow.

"You're no ordinary bird."

Sun Wukong revealed himself: "Who are you?"

He could sense the crow's weakness, but if it warranted the protection of the Undying Beings, it was clearly no ordinary creature.

"I am just a crow."

The crow hopped a few times within the cage: "I know you, you're Sun Wukong, the fool who offended the Undying Beings."

Sun Wukong's hair shimmered with golden light, glaringly conspicuous.

His eyes gleamed: "You seem to know quite a bit about the Undying Beings?"

"You're right, nobody understands them better than I do in all of Chaos."

The crow replied smugly: "The Undying Beings are the oldest existences in Chaos, each as eternal as Chaos itself. They only obey the Venerable, having accrued great merits for the Venerable, destroying one Star Palace after another, and felling countless Heavenly Emperors."

It looked at Sun Wukong as if looking at a dead man: "You're courting death, not just offending the Buddha Beads but them as well—"

"Are they more difficult to deal with than the Buddha Beads?"

Sun Wukong asked.

"Of course, the Buddha Beads were discovered by the Undying Beings and taught to the Buddha to create!"

The crow told Sun Wukong: "The Undying Beings have taken notice of you and will come looking for trouble one by one. The strong among them exceed your imagination; you better run while you can!"

"I see."

Sun Wukong gained plenty of useful information.

He looked towards the battlefield; the two Undying Beings were still in combat, their terrifying presence sweeping through Chaos.

Sun Wukong's eyes flickered with radiance as he deduced the aura of the battlefield and then asked the crow: "One of them is the Venerable's subordinate. Who's the other?"

"That's a traitor, those unwilling to submit to the Venerable, wandering on their own."

The crow was simple-minded and unguarded: "They're just like you, fools."

"Is this war to seize you?"

Sun Wukong asked again.

"I can't tell you."

The crow replied: "But the Undying Beings need me, you best not touch me."

Sun Wukong smiled and reached for the birdcage.

"Stop!"

At that moment, the two Undying Beings sensed Sun Wukong's presence.

They halted their fight and together, turned and charged at Sun Wukong.

"You're done for!"

The crow told Sun Wukong.

"We'll see about that."

Sun Wukong swung out a palm, powerful and sharp, bursting with dazzling light like a resplendent sun, striking at the two Undying Beings!

The next moment, they collided.

Boom!

A massive explosion occurred in Chaos, Immortal Law surged, ghosts wailed, gods howled, rifts emerged as space almost collapsed.

In an instant, vast golden light engulfed the two Undying Beings.

"Ahhh!"

Screams of the Undying Beings emanated from within the golden light.

"How is this possible!"

The crow in the cage gasped in shock.

"These two Undying Beings are no match for me."

Sun Wukong stated.

He looked at the crow: "You belong to me now."

The crow looked at Sun Wukong, facing this overpowering might.

It fell silent for a moment, then nodded.

"The victor is king, I will follow the victor."
