My Silly, Sweet Wife

Chapter 146: Wolf King's Gratitude

The baby-like head extending from the strange snake in the Land God Temple really resembled a baby, complete with nose and eyes, but the one in front of them now looked even more like a shriveled-up monkey.

The monkey's head seemed to be gripping the leg of the earlier bodyguard with two tentacles, stuffing it into its mouth.

Even Ye Guichen could hardly contain his nausea at this scene.

"Ugh…!"

Another piercing scream echoed.

The weird snake swallowed the last piece of meat, letting out a loud cry before lunging at Ye Guichen, seemingly intent on devouring him as well.

Wu Caijun's face changed dramatically.

Although he knew Ye Guichen had the ability to kill such snakes, this place was evidently different from the Land God Temple.

The tomb beneath the Land God Temple was too cramped, preventing the snake from fully extending.

But here, even though the snake's head touched the cave ceiling, it could move freely, without hindrance to its attacks.

In the blink of an eye, the snake lunged at Ye Guichen.

Wu Caijun was so terrified he almost stopped breathing.

Ma Xiangqian, who had already escaped a dozen meters, leaned against the wall, staring blankly with terror-stricken eyes.

"This is a sin, a sin, a sin!"

Ma Xiangqian felt that they were surely cursed by the Mountain God Grandpa and feared they couldn't leave Snake Head Mountain alive.

Just as Ma Xiangqian felt certain of their imminent death, a gray shadow swiftly rushed into the cave, pouncing toward the snake about to attack Ye Guichen.

"Awoooo…"

Accompanied by a wolf's howl, a wild wolf as large as a calf bit onto the snake's baby-like head.

"Screech!" The snake let out a horrific cry, seemingly surprised by the sudden attack.

Instinctively, it tried to throw off the wolf biting its head, but the wolf's grip was too strong. Within seconds, the wolf had bitten off the baby-like head completely.

"Screech…!" The snake let out another cry and, without the head on its tongue, its body sagged as if deflated, falling heavily to the ground.

The wolf didn't hesitate and dashed to the snake's vital point, its claws slicing down like blades.

Clang, clang, clang!

The claws struck against the snake's scales, sending sparks flying.

Wu Caijun and Ma Xiangqian were dumbfounded.

They recognized the wolf as the Wolf King that Ye Guichen had previously saved.

However, they couldn't understand why the Wolf King seemed to be rescuing Ye Guichen.

Could it be that such animals know gratitude?

Splish!

Finally, after dozens of strikes by the wolf's claws, the snake's scales were broken open.

The Wolf King swiftly tore the snake's skin, skillfully extracting a snake gallbladder the size of a basketball.

The Wolf King hesitated briefly, glanced at Ye Guichen, and seeing Ye Guichen making no move, it opened its mouth wide and swallowed the gallbladder.

Having done all this, the Wolf King walked up to Ye Guichen, slowly bending its front paws as if in a gesture of kneeling before Ye Guichen.

"This, this…" Ma Xiangqian was utterly dumbfounded.

Where had he ever seen such a scene?

Initially, he had guessed that the Wolf King was rescuing Ye Guichen, but the act of kneeling made it certain. If not seen with one's own eyes, who would believe it?

Could it be that Ye Guichen was truly revered by the Mountain God Grandpa?

Ma Xiangqian's gaze towards Ye Guichen completely changed.

Wu Caijun was even more jubilant, unable to contain his admiration for Ye Guichen, he fell to his knees before him: "Mr. Ye, you are divine!"

Ever since Wu Caijun met Ye Guichen, his admiration for Ye Guichen had grown daily, finally expressing it in words today as if facing a true deity.

Ye Guichen ignored Wu Caijun and smiled slightly, stretching out his hand to pet the Wolf King's head: "Everything in nature has spirit, you are quite smart. Though rescuing me, consuming this snake gallbladder is extremely beneficial for your wounds."

The Wolf King remained still, allowing Ye Guichen to pet its head, as if listening to a sage's teachings.

Ma Xiangqian was so astonished his mouth could fit a fist: "Mr. Ye, you, you…"

"Do you know this place?" Ye Guichen's voice interrupted Ma Xiangqian's words. He smiled at the Wolf King in front of him, as if he could converse with it.

Although the Wolf King had not opened its Spiritual Sense, being a Wolf King meant it was much smarter than ordinary wild wolves.

Seemingly understanding Ye Guichen's words, the Wolf King nodded lightly, glancing at the right side passage.

Ye Guichen pondered: "It seems you often linger nearby, and are neighbors with the strange snakes here. Well then, lead me to visit your neighbors."

With Ye Guichen's consent, the Wolf King turned and ran towards the right-side passage.

Ye Guichen didn't delay and followed closely.

"Mr. Ye, wait for me." Wu Caijun saw Ye Guichen leaving and hurriedly followed him.

Ma Xiangqian, who was initially paralyzed with fear, now revered Ye Guichen as a god. After considering for a moment, he stumbled after them: "Brother, no, Mr. Ye, let me help you!"

No matter what, being appreciated by Ye Guichen, even if not achieving great success, should at least ensure leaving Snake Head Mountain unharmed?

The Wolf King moved quickly, running for over ten minutes within the passage.

The passage was narrow, devoid of traps, or perhaps the original traps had long been destroyed.

Without hindrance, Ye Guichen proceeded smoothly.

As expected, the passage ended at a tomb.

This tomb was not large but neither small, a spacious arch-shaped cave of over 200 square meters.

In the center of the cave sat a stone coffin, surrounded by four pillars, each carved with the mythical beasts Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise.

Other than that, the tomb was empty, without any burial items.

But now, the tomb was chaotic, with a towering twenty-meter-tall strange snake coiled near the stone coffin, glaring at Luo Qianqi and the others.

Luo Qianqi's group was either dead or injured, scattered around. Only one bodyguard remained, protecting Luo Qianqi, but his legs were shaking uncontrollably, clearly terrified.

Fan Zhidong gripped one of the pillars with his hand, holding a Soft Sword in the other, blood trickling from the corner of his lips, evidently at his limit.

"Miss Luo, I didn't expect such a monster here. It keeps guarding the stone coffin; the things inside must be valuable!" Fan Zhidong gasped, his eyes never leaving the snake.

Luo Qianqi seemed to have gradually adapted from extreme terror. She bit her lip, staring intensely at the stone coffin: "Mr. Fan, this creature is so difficult to deal with, are we leaving empty-handed today?"

Fan Zhidong gave a bitter smile: "Besides this, what can we do? Miss Luo, if we can leave alive today, we'd be lucky."
