Urban Soldier Young Master

Chapter 191: Catching by Letting Go?

"Bullshit! If I knew them, would I be screaming for help? Would that guy have a knife at my neck? Would I be kicking that hard?"

She glared at Chen Lei and said irritably, but Luo Suyun also knew it wasn't Chen Lei's fault. Helping someone is noble, but not helping is one's right.

Chen Lei glanced at Luo Suyun's high heels and then at the man lying on the ground convulsing. He felt a chill in his groin, and his facial muscles twitched as he scratched his head awkwardly, "You... have a point there..."

"What do you mean I have a point? Come on, big brother, you say now... Forget it, there's no point in saying anything about it now. It's true that I can't blame you for what happened earlier. Anyway, thank you for speaking up for me just now."

Chen Lei gave an embarrassed laugh and then turned his gaze to Chu Ge.

"So, what do we do now?" He intended to call out Chu Ge's name but reconsidered, worried he might cause trouble for Chu Ge, so he didn't mention his name.

"How about this, do me a favor and take these three to the police station, but don't mention what happened just now."

Chu Ge chuckled, opened the van's trunk, and indeed found some rope inside. With ease, he tied up the hands and feet of the three individuals securely, speaking as he tossed them into the vehicle like dead dogs.

Chen Lei frowned, "Hand them over to the police?"

Chu Ge nodded, "Today, when I was in the office, I heard the colleagues mention that there have been several missing persons cases in our city recently. I suspect these three might be involved."

Chen Lei paused, suddenly recalling he'd heard similar rumors over the past few days. Hesitating for a moment, he asked, "These... you caught them, shouldn't I let it go?"

Chu Ge shook his head with a smile, "I can't stand that hassle—taking statements and getting calls every so often. Just thinking about it gives me a headache."

Hearing this, Chen Lei felt uncertainty filling his heart.

To be fair, until now, he couldn't be sure whether these three knocked down by Chu Ge were criminals, and couldn't figure out what Chu Ge meant by saying this.

He didn't believe that Chu Ge was just trying to avoid trouble and therefore was leaving the matter to him.

If, as Chu Ge said, these three were indeed suspects in a kidnapping case, handing them over to the police would be a tremendous chance to look good.

Maybe, it might even earn him an award for bravery in a just cause, get him on TV for an interview—such a fantastic opportunity—would Chu Ge really remind him not to mention how he caught these three?

But the problem was, Chu Ge had already said this to him, and if he rejected it, it didn't seem right either.

After all, he wanted to learn some basketball skills from Chu Ge. If Chu Ge asked him to do something for the first time and he was evasive, as an internet saying goes, it'd truly ruin their ability to hang out together in the future.

After hesitating for a few seconds, Chen Lei finally nodded and got into the van.

Once Chen Lei drove the van out of Chu Ge's sight, Chu Ge, still puzzled, glanced at Luo Suyun standing aside, but eventually just smiled at her without saying anything, turned, and walked away.

After all that thinking, he still couldn't remember where he had seen this woman before, so Chu Ge simply gave up, suspecting he had mistaken her for someone else.

Watching Chu Ge leave without a word, Luo Suyun was momentarily stunned, then a peculiar expression crossed her face.

In Luo Suyun's view, no matter what, the young man who had just saved her, even if he really had to leave, should at least come over and say a few words to her before leaving, right?

Could it be that she held no attraction for him?

Impossible, right? Didn't this man just carefully size her up with plenty of admiration in his eyes?

Or was it a ploy to play hard to get, waiting for her to chase after him to thank him?

Yes, that must be it.

With a confident curve on her lips, Luo Suyun decided to stand still and see how long this young man, who had saved her and seemed quite interested in her, would keep up his hard-to-get tactic, and how far he would walk before turning back.

Chu Ge took five steps; Luo Suyun's lips still held a confident smile.

Chu Ge walked ten steps; Luo Suyun fiddled with a rose-red lock of her hair, and the confident smile on her lips began to look forced.

Chu Ge took twenty steps; Luo Suyun's brow furrowed slightly.

Chu Ge took thirty steps; Luo Suyun's confident smile was entirely gone, replaced by a look of entanglement.

Seeing Chu Ge walking farther and farther away without any intention of turning back, he even walked to a bus stop and waited for a bus. When the bus arrived, he actually intended to get on. Luo Suyun was finally completely frustrated.

"Hey, handsome, wait a minute!"

Evidently, if she didn't speak up, this young man who had saved her would really leave, possibly never to meet again. Luo Suyun really couldn't wait any longer, even if he truly was trying to play hard-to-get, she would accept it.

When Chu Ge turned around and shot a puzzled look at Luo Suyun, Luo Suyun rolled her eyes helplessly and, wearing seven-centimeter high heels, carrying a milk carton, chased after him.

"Hey, handsome, are you really leaving?" Luo Suyun spoke up exasperatedly upon catching up to Chu Ge.

When Chu Ge noticed the clear mix of curiosity, admiration, and a bit of defiance in Luo Suyun's eyes, he was slightly taken aback, but then quickly put on his signature smile.

Chu Ge smiled slightly, neither gentlemanly nor frivolous, adopting an open and relaxed posture as if to say, "If you have something to say, I'm all ears."

Even though he was interested in the woman in front of him, he had only met her once. Not knowing what kind of person she truly was, he chose to keep things unchanged and put the conversation's direction in her hands for the moment.

Sure enough, Luo Suyun's interest in him deepened when Chu Ge reacted this way.

"Handsome, normally after a hero saves the damsel, the hero should say something, right? Why are you leaving without saying a word? Is my appearance that disappointing to you?"

Chu Ge touched his nose and shook his head with a smile, "Of course not, I just felt like the little thing I did wasn't worthy enough to be called heroic, so I'm too embarrassed to flirt casually with a great beauty like you."

Even though Luo Suyun had speculated several answers before Chu Ge spoke, she didn't expect that his explanation was unlike any answer she had imagined.

What Chu Ge said was truly original—humorous, humble, and it still left Luo Suyun guessing whether or not he had any hidden subtext.

Interesting, this is an intriguing person!

Unconsciously, Luo Suyun's smile widened, and she burst into a crisp, hearty laugh.

With her laughter, her rose-red hair danced lightly in the wind. Although there was a clear slap mark on her fair face, it didn't detract from her beauty. Instead, it gave her an aura of optimism and strength.

"Talking to you is so much fun, handsome. Should I take it as a compliment, then?"

"Actually, it's not exactly a compliment, is it? I was just speaking the truth."

"Then... I wonder if I have the honor to trouble you to take me home? What happened was so scary; I'm still a bit shaken."

Hearing this, Chu Ge found it all quite amusing. From her words and actions, it seemed more like she was acting cute, rather than genuinely scared.

But of course, since Luo Suyun made the request, Chu Ge wouldn't refuse. He nodded with a smile, "It's my honor to escort a beautiful lady like you home."

Having said that, Chu Ge took the milk carton from Luo Suyun's hand. With their own intentions, they exchanged smiles and hailed a taxi together.

"By the way, handsome, can I ask why you helped me earlier? From the way you acted, it seemed like you were quite certain I didn't know those three people?"

After the taxi had been moving for a while, Luo Suyun noticed that Chu Ge had no intention of boasting about what had happened or his skills. Unable to contain her curiosity, she finally asked.

Chu Ge smiled, "Of course I was sure."

"Why? The big guy with you didn't notice at all?" Luo Suyun asked in confusion.

Chu Ge touched his nose, teasingly keeping Luo Suyun in suspense, "Well... hehe, it's a bit embarrassing to say."

Luo Suyun playfully punched Chu Ge, her face expectant, "Come on, what's so embarrassing? Just tell me, won't you?"

"Because if I had a wife as beautiful as you, no matter what she did, I would never have the heart to lay a heavy hand on her, that's all."

Though she knew Chu Ge probably wasn't telling the truth, Luo Suyun couldn't help but laugh sweetly when she heard the answer. It warmed her heart and made her feel bright and comfortable inside.

The taxi drove smoothly along, and both of them gradually opened up to each other. Both Chu Ge and Luo Suyun were naturally talkative, with no awkward silence at all—it felt like conversing with long-known friends having a delightful chat.

What surprised Chu Ge somewhat was that throughout it all, Luo Suyun never asked about his personal information, not even his name.

With a screech, the taxi stopped under Luo Suyun's building. Luo Suyun hurried to pay the fare, got out of the taxi, and smiled with a hint of mischief, "Handsome, I find it hard to have enough of chatting with you. How about... coming upstairs for a while, and staying for dinner?"
