Urban Soldier Young Master

Chapter 278: I Am His Uncle

While dialing Long Kun's number, "Li Ge" didn't take his eyes off the surveillance screen. Watching Chu Ge's relaxed and joyful demeanor, he felt bitter inside, like having swallowed bitter herbs.

Initially, he thought this was a great opportunity to make a name for himself in front of Long Kun and elevate his status. But he never imagined, not even in his dreams, that his plans, which were so flawless, still couldn't deal with Chu Ge.

Even... even the little girl Chu Ge brought along wasn't flustered at all. Instead, she was excitedly helping Chu Ge finish off the adversaries.

Once Long Kun's call went through, "Li Ge" recounted what had happened with a mournful face. After a few seconds of silence, the receiver went dead without Long Kun saying a word.

Meanwhile, after Chu Ge took down a few "ghosts," all the "ghosts" behaved and dared not get close to him.

Glancing over the "ghosts," Chu Ge said nothing, took Shu Lulu's hand, turned, and kicked open the exit door.

If only one "ghost" attacked him, it might not mean much. But with several "ghosts" inciting others to attack him together, it was clearly following instructions.

Thinking about the previous situation, Chu Ge couldn't help but feel furious.

Admittedly, these "ghosts," or rather the person behind them, showed remarkable patience and strategy. If it were someone else here today, nine times out of ten, they'd have fallen for it.

Unlike Chu Ge, who was fuming, Shu Lulu found it quite enjoyable, even wanting more, and grew even more admiring of Chu Ge.

However, seeing Chu Ge's clearly bad mood, she didn't say much, staying obediently by his side, reminiscing about Chu Ge's heroic moments earlier.

Returning to the haunted house's waiting hall, Chu Ge, with Shu Lulu, sat on a bench, crossed his legs, called over one of the staff, and said, "Go get your boss."

The staff member hesitated, looked at Chu Ge's rather ordinary attire, gave him a sideways glance, and frowned, "You want our boss? Who are you?"

"I'm his granddaddy. Tell him to get his ass here immediately."

In theory, if there was a fight in the haunted house, the boss should have been informed long ago. But he hadn't shown up so far, which only confirmed to Chu Ge that he was guilty. So how could Chu Ge still be polite to him?

Chu Ge's voice, though not loud, was loud enough for most people in the hall to hear it clearly.

As his words landed, numerous gazes converged on him. Many regulars here gasped, looking at Chu Ge as if he were a monster.

To run such a popular business in a place like this, you undoubtedly need a substantial background, and "Li Ge's" name was certainly well-known here.

Yet this person dared to speak in such a manner? Either he's tired of living or he's crazy, right?

Amidst the gathering gazes, Chu Ge pulled a cigarette from his pack, lit it with a "click," and said, "By the way, tell him I'm giving him only the time it takes to finish this cigarette to get here quickly."

"Alright, you're tough, you've got guts, just you wait."

Seeing Chu Ge's arrogant tone and calm demeanor, the staff member who initially wanted to pull Chu Ge up hesitated, then finally walked towards their boss Geng Li's office.

Sitting in his office, Geng Li had just deleted the surveillance footage of his subordinates fighting with Chu Ge when he heard a knock on the door, startling him, thinking it was Chu Ge coming for him.

"Who's there?"

"Li Ge, it's me."

Hearing a subordinate's voice, Geng Li breathed a sigh of relief, "Come in."

"Li Ge, there's a guy outside wanting to see you, has a pretty arrogant tone, claims to be your granddaddy, says you have the time it takes to smoke one cigarette, and told you to roll out to meet him. Should I call some brothers to sort him out?"

Geng Li frowned, thinking no wonder Chu Ge didn't come looking for him; he was waiting for him to go out. After some hesitation, he said, "Alright then, just tell him I'm not here."

"Ah?" The lackey was stunned, not expecting Geng Li to endure this.

Seeing the stunned lackey, Geng Li felt uncomfortable but didn't say more, giving a dismissive wave. However, as the lackey turned to leave, Geng Li suddenly asked, "How long has he been smoking that cigarette?"

The lackey was stunned again, "Uh... he just lit it when I left. It's about halfway now?"

After hesitating for a few seconds, Geng Li finally stood up. Even someone like "Brother Long" had to take this person seriously, so how could he afford to be careless? After thinking it over, he decided it would be better to go there himself.

Inside the hall, Chu Ge glanced at the cigarette butt that was about to burn down to the filter, curled his lips, and let out a cold smile. The others looked at him with eyes full of mockery, eagerly waiting to see what would happen once he finished that cigarette.

Just then, Geng Li strode in, pretending to be unaware of the situation. "Who called for me?"

Seeing that Geng Li, nicknamed "Brother Li," had actually come, everyone in the hall was taken aback, and their gazes at Chu Ge became even more peculiar.

With a flick, Chu Ge sent the cigarette butt flying toward Geng Li, making it clear with his actions that he was the one looking for him.

Feeling the weight of so many eyes upon him, Geng Li was visibly embarrassed. "Friend, what do you mean by this?"

Chu Ge looked at Geng Li with a playful expression, "Nephew, shouldn't you be the one answering that? Earlier, your underling smashed me with an iron rod. Don't you owe me an explanation?"

Geng Li frowned and denied it outright, "Friend, I don't understand what you're saying. I run a legitimate business. How could such a thing happen? I have no idea what you're talking about."

Chu Ge snorted through his nose, "Nephew, say one more time you don't know?"

With everyone's eyes on him, repeatedly being called "nephew" by Chu Ge embarrassed Geng Li even more, his eye twitched twice. "Friend, I came specially to give you face, not to listen to your nonsense."

Chu Ge laughed heartily, nodded, and finally stood up from his chair. Walking over to Geng Li, he met his evasive gaze and teased, "Have the surveillance tapes been deleted? And the doctored Wolf Fang Club hidden away? No evidence left of your people trying to attack me?"

Geng Li's face twitched again as Chu Ge's words hit the mark, and true as they were, he should be feeling confident, with Chu Ge having nothing on him. Yet he still felt uneasy.

"Nephew, I'll ask you once more, who told you to do this? A friendly reminder, if you want to keep your haunted house running, you'd better not hide it from me."

After dropping those words, Chu Ge sneered through his nose, wore his signature grin, and poked Geng Li's forehead.

As Chu Ge's finger tapped Geng Li's forehead, Geng Li finally became furious with shame. Although wary of Chu Ge's skills, he couldn't believe that Chu Ge would dare to make a move in front of so many witnesses.

However, just as he raised his hand to push Chu Ge's finger away, Chu Ge's right hand suddenly shoved his face. Caught off guard, with a thud, he fell backward onto the ground, his head buzzing as the world spun around him.

When the "thud" echoed, the entire hall fell silent, everyone dumbfounded.

After pushing Geng Li, Chu Ge did not say more, sparing not a glance his way, and promptly walked out.

"Uncle, wait for me!" It took Shu Lulu several seconds to snap back to reality, excitedly shouting as she chased after Chu Ge.

Watching Chu Ge leave, several of Geng Li's underlings in the hall exchanged looks but dared not follow, each secretly swallowing hard.

"Uncle, you were so cool just now! I had no idea you could fight like that! But why did those people want to hit you?" Shu Lulu asked curiously as she caught up to Chu Ge, glancing back at the direction of the haunted house.

"It's not that I'm good at fighting, it's that they're too weak. Maybe they're jealous of my good looks and decided to pick a fight?"

Hearing Chu Ge's explanation, Shu Lulu knew he didn't want to discuss it further, so she giggled and nodded in agreement, "I think that's it too."

They chatted about other things. Chu Ge picked up his car from the parking lot, had lunch with Shu Lulu, bought her a laptop as planned, and then accompanied her for a haircut, thus passing most of the afternoon.

Seeing Shu Lulu now with her hair dyed rose-red, Chu Ge noticed she looked even more like Luo Suyun. If he had met Shu Lulu with this hair color, he might have connected this mother and daughter pair upon first seeing Luo Suyun.

Leaving the hair salon, Chu Ge offered to take Shu Lulu home. Hearing this, Shu Lulu pitifully pleaded.

"Uncle, my mom's not home, and there's nothing to eat anyway. Let me come to your place for dinner!"

Chu Ge shook his head, "After I drop you off, I need to pick up my boss from work. I'm not sure if I'll have other plans tonight."

Despite several attempts, Shu Lulu's pleas were in vain. Chu Ge later picked up Qin Ruojing and returned home.

Looking inside the refrigerator, he realized there wasn't much food left to cook. Just as he lamented not remembering this earlier and needing another trip downstairs, there was a knock at the door.

Opening the door, he saw He Qing standing there, holding a bag of crabs, with a gentle smile that was as refreshing as a spring breeze.
