Urban Soldier Young Master

Chapter 53 Are You Superman?

As soon as he left the office, Lu Gang hurriedly snatched the mop from Chu Ge's hands. This was a rare chance to interact with Chu Ge alone and make a good impression in front of him. How could he bear to miss it?

Once they were in the restroom, and after confirming that no one else was there, Lu Gang turned on the faucet, placed the mop in the sink, and asked nervously, "Bro, you're... really not mad at me anymore?"

Hearing Lu Gang bring this up again, Chu Ge couldn't help but find it amusing. He countered, "What do you think? If I really wanted to hold a grudge, would you still be working here?"

Chu Ge's words acted like a reassurance pill, completely setting Lu Gang's mind at ease, and he awkwardly smiled.

"Bro, you're so magnanimous. Do you think... after this incident, everyone might look down on me?"

Chu Ge glanced at Lu Gang with a speechless expression, picked up the now-clean mop from the sink, wrung it out, and said while turning around, "Don't worry, everyone is busy with their own stuff. In a few days, no one will remember this."

Lu Gang was momentarily stunned, then quickly caught up with Chu Ge, once again snatching the mop from him as his spirits lifted.

Although Chu Ge's words were a bit blunt and not particularly profound, they instantly unlocked Lu Gang's mental burden.

He was never a big shot to begin with, so why would others care about him that much? Why should he take himself so seriously? Instead of worrying and complaining, he'd be better off thinking about what he could do to earn others' respect.

"Thanks, bro!"

Seeing Lu Gang's sincere and slightly excited expression, Chu Ge smiled without comment.

When the office door swung open, Chu Ge saw Mo Xiaoran standing on a chair atop the desk, slightly on tiptoe, holding a rag trying to reach some cobwebs on the ceiling.

From this angle, Mo Xiaoran looked absolutely beautiful. Her focus was intent, her legs were straight, and her upper body was maximally stretched, her arms reaching up, her gaze fixed firmly on the cobweb.

As she swung the rag upwards, her silky black hair danced lightly. The ceiling cobweb was mostly knocked off, with only a tiny bit left to clear.

Even though her movements were not large, and Feifei was there to stabilize the chair, when she swung the rag, the chair wobbled slightly, causing her stance to be a bit unsteady.

Despite this, Mo Xiaoran showed no intention of coming down. Her eyes focused on the spider web above, and she swung the rag once more. Unfortunately, it missed the remaining web, but her chair wobbled again.

Witnessing this, Chu Ge looked back and gave Lu Gang a glance. Wasn't he worried about being looked down upon by colleagues? This was clearly a chance to restore his image.

Lu Gang, already pondering ways to gain respect, immediately caught on from Chu Ge's look, showing a grateful smile. He quickly put down the mop and said, "Xiaoran, come down; it's too dangerous standing so high. Let me handle it."

With Lu Gang's height, these tasks were indeed more suitable for him. Just a flick of the rag and he could easily remove the cobweb without even tiptoeing. That big stature of his wasn't for nothing.

As Chu Ge and Lu Gang entered, Feifei glanced over at them, seeing Chu Ge say nothing but give Lu Gang a look, she couldn't help but feel a bit frustrated.

What a perfect opportunity to show concern for Mo Xiaoran. Chu Ge could have done that, yet he handed it over to Lu Gang?

Mo Xiaoran turned to look at Lu Gang and smiled gently, "No need, it's just this little bit left. I can handle it."

Although she was smiling, Mo Xiaoran hadn't expected Lu Gang to offer help. Initially, she subconsciously thought it might be Chu Ge who would offer. She felt a bit strange inside but couldn't pinpoint why.

After speaking, Mo Xiaoran tiptoed again and flicked the rag upwards.

This time, the rag finally struck the remaining cobweb, but before she could smile, she saw a nearly thumb-sized black spider hanging by a thread, falling toward her collar.

Due to the angle, when she first noticed the cobweb, she didn't see the spider hiding within. Though somewhat prepared mentally, she never imagined the spider would be that big, nor that it would fall toward her like this.

"Ah!"

Like most girls, Mo Xiaoran wasn't fond of or unafraid of spiders. Seeing the rapidly descending spider, her face showed panic and she instinctively gasped, wanting to dodge it.

But as soon as she cried out, the spider fell into the collar of her shirt. Feeling the touch of the spider on her skin, she broke out in goosebumps, feeling unspeakably nauseated, and lost her balance, tipping backward from the chair.

Everything happened so fast, just a second or two, so quickly that even Mo Xiaoran couldn't react, let alone anyone else.

Even though her body had already started to fall off the chair, the nearest person to her, Feifei, hadn't yet come to her senses.

Mo Xiaoran's body was plummeting downward, and she instinctively let out a scream as the snow-white ceiling in her vision rapidly distanced itself from her. Her mind had no time to think about anything; it was completely blank.

A few seconds passed, and suddenly, Mo Xiaoran's body spun around, the picture in her sight changing rapidly, and then she felt herself come to an abrupt stop, without any sensation of pain throughout her body.

It was only at this point that Mo Xiaoran snapped back to reality. She instinctively looked to the side and was met by a pair of eyes filled with concern and a hint of helplessness.

"Chu... Chu Ge? How... how did you get here?"

Before Mo Xiaoran could say anything, Feifei, standing next to her, had already widened her eyes, as if she were evaluating a monster. She asked stammeringly in astonishment.

Just a few seconds earlier, Chu Ge was still at the door, and there were several meters between the door and this spot. She simply couldn't comprehend, and even she hadn't had time to react. How was it possible for Chu Ge to have rushed over in just a few seconds to catch Mo Xiaoran?

Moreover... Chu Ge's action of catching Mo Xiaoran was so cool; he suddenly reached out his hand and held Mo Xiaoran's hand. She didn't know how he did it, but in some way, Mo Xiaoran spun around, and the momentum that could have made her fall was neutralized. He was just like a prince suddenly descending from the heavens!

Although Chu Ge wasn't one of those flamboyant pretty boys from a Hong Kong or Taiwanese drama, his masculine and composed demeanor, calm and unfazed, could absolutely outshine traditional princes by a wide margin!

Chu Ge didn't answer Feifei's question but smiled at Mo Xiaoran, gently releasing her hand, and asked with concern, "Are you okay?"

"No... th... thank you."

Facing Chu Ge's concerned gaze, Mo Xiaoran bit her lip, shyly shaking her head.

"Wow, wow! A live-action hero saving the damsel in distress! Chu Ge, are you a superhero?" At this moment, Feifei was back to her usual animated self, exaggeratedly exclaiming.

Chu Ge was taken aback, "I didn't wear red underwear on the outside, how could I look like a superhero?"

Feifei's eyes darted around, suddenly mimicking a character from an anime, full of spirit. She raised her right hand, pointed at Chu Ge, and said with a serious air, "I know! There's only one truth!"

Looking at Feifei's antics, Chu Ge felt quite speechless, knowing without a doubt that Feifei was about to unleash her extraordinarily vivid imagination.

Feifei still loved to keep people in suspense, waiting until everyone's eyes were on her before continuing, "I've heard that when a person or someone they care about the most is in danger, adrenaline surges rapidly, allowing them to unleash incredible abilities, doing things that are normally impossible! Chu Ge, am I right?"

Hearing Feifei say this, Chu Ge was utterly defeated by her; he found it amusing beyond words. If he hadn't even this bit of reaction ability, then who knows how many times he would've been dead by now.

What left Chu Ge even more speechless was that while Feifei was causing trouble, several other girls seemed to agree with the logic, nodding in agreement despite it having nothing to do with him.

"Yeah, I also read the news saying a frail mother lifted a fridge with her bare hands during an earthquake to save her child."

"Yes, yes, I saw that news too!"

With people chiming in, Feifei's smile became even brighter, "I guess... you're definitely interested in our Xiaoran, right Chu Ge?"

Seeing Feifei with that mischievous look, Chu Ge honestly felt a headache. He dearly wished for Tong Yaqi to walk in and use her powerful aura to suppress this pesky Feifei. But unfortunately, things didn't go his way; the door stayed quietly shut with no footsteps in the corridor.

However, just then, Mo Xiaoran let out a soft gasp.

"What is it?"

Chu Ge quickly turned around, only to see Mo Xiaoran with a hesitant expression.

As soon as she met Chu Ge's eyes, Mo Xiaoran lowered her head and awkwardly took a few quick steps to Feifei. She whispered something that only the two of them could hear.

"Xiaoran, it's not that I, Feifei, am not being a good sister, but I really can't help you with this. I think... you should ask Chu Ge."

After Mo Xiaoran finished speaking, the mischievousness on Feifei's face grew even more. She shook her head, seeing Mo Xiaoran's almost pleading gaze.
