Chapter 86: Operation Management Department on Fire

When Chu Ge held Qin Ruojing's hand, she suddenly turned her head, her sharp gaze making even Chu Ge slightly stunned.

"Let me drive instead. With your current state, I don't trust you." In less than a second, Chu Ge came back to his senses and gestured towards the passenger seat.

"Alright, but you must hurry. I won't feel secure without the script in hand." Qin Ruojing hesitated for a moment, then nodded, moving over to the passenger seat.

"Got it. Fasten your seatbelt." Chu Ge sat firmly in the driver's seat, intertwined his fingers, and pushed forward, causing a series of cracking noises from his joints.

"Just go, I'm not in the mood to fasten any seatbelt."

"No way, if you don't fasten it, we won't go."

Seeing Chu Ge's determined look, Qin Ruojing, though anxious, knew it wasn't the time to argue. Continuing to debate would only waste more time.

Despite her helplessness and urgency inside, Qin Ruojing still fastened her seatbelt.

However, just as Qin Ruojing fastened her seatbelt and was about to urge Chu Ge to go faster, her back was uncontrollably pressed against the seat, a rushing sound hit her ears, and blood surged to her brain, involuntarily raising the corners of her mouth.

At this moment, Qin Ruojing was certainly not in the mood for laughing. The change in her facial expression was reminiscent of the "Devil's Smile" famed in F1 racing.

Speaking of the "Devil's Smile," one cannot help but mention the madness of F1 racing, an experience no viewer can truly understand from just watching.

For race car drivers, gravity is their greatest challenge. As they speed ahead, the forces they endure are three to four times those of a normal person. In less than three seconds, a formula car can accelerate from zero to a hundred miles per hour.

In that first second, gravity presses a driver's head back violently, flattening their face, creating a sinister grin known as the "Devil's Smile."

If she hadn't experienced it firsthand, Qin Ruojing wouldn't have dreamed that Chu Ge had made her feel like a racing driver starting up, with his Audi A8, and in a parking lot no less.

In almost a blink, Qin Ruojing was astonished to find that her Audi A8 had already sped out of the underground parking and into the torrential rain on the street. And only then did she understand why Chu Ge insisted on her fastening her seatbelt.

In the midst of the Audi A8's furious speed, Qin Ruojing had no doubt that if she hadn't fastened her seatbelt, with every maneuver Chu Ge made, she would have tumbled into his arms or been thrown against the car door.

Initially, Qin Ruojing was worried that Chu Ge might not drive fast enough. This time, she was somewhat worried they might be going too fast.

After all, it was a rainy day. Visibility was already poor. To drive at such a speed, any mistake could be a disaster with fatalities.

Glancing at Chu Ge beside her, he still had that casual, even slightly lazy demeanor, as if he wasn't the one driving the Audi A8 like a race car but just doing something trivial.

"Hey, chairman, once we get the script and head back, don't forget the overtime pay. And remember to count this ride in as well?"

Under Qin Ruojing's near-horrified gaze, Chu Ge suddenly smiled at her, showing a toothy grin.

"The road! Don't look at me, watch the road!" Qin Ruojing's pupils shrank suddenly, subconsciously exclaiming.

"Relax, there aren't many cars out at night. By the way, are you satisfied with this speed?" Chu Ge returned his gaze forward, casually continuing to overtake cars while asking.

"Satisfied, just focus on driving. We'll talk about anything else later." Qin Ruojing pressed herself tightly against the seat, her hands on her thighs instinctively clenching into fists. She gripped so hard that her knuckles turned pale.

Chu Ge responded with a laugh, and the car fell silent, with only the sound of rain hitting the roof and the wheels splashing through water echoing in their ears.

On the surface, Chu Ge seemed relaxed, but inside he wasn't as carefree as he appeared. He didn't know why, but there was an intuition suggesting something might happen.

It might sound unreliable, but this intangible intuition had saved Chu Ge from grave dangers more than once in the past.

If it weren't for this intuition, no matter what Qin Ruojing said, he wouldn't be driving so fast. And the closer they got to the Tianjiao Group, the stronger this feeling grew.

Finally, the Tianjiao Group building came into view. Chu Ge and Qin Ruojing both instinctively looked up toward the ninth-floor Operation Management Department office, and simultaneously felt a sinking feeling in their hearts.

The office was lit, but the light wasn't from lamps; it was jumping, fierce, and alarming, casting a fiery red glow on the glass!

Watching in the direction of the office, Chu Ge's brows knitted tightly. After advancing a few hundred meters more, he made a swift and sharp drift, with the Audi A8 stopping at the entrance of the Tianjiao Group as if wagging its tail like a dragon. The tires screeched against the ground, and despite the pouring rain, a burnt smell filled the air.

With a "bang," they both opened the car doors and rushed out simultaneously.

At the ninth-floor Operation Management Department office entrance, the door had already been kicked open. Several on-duty security guards were pouring buckets and basins of water into the room. Unfortunately, their efforts were almost futile against the raging flames inside, unable to even slightly control the fire, let alone extinguish it.

Even though they were just standing at the doorway, the waves of heat hitting them and the swirling thick smoke mixed with particulate ash nearly choked them, making it almost impossible to open their mouths. They also had varying degrees of burns on their bodies.

When Chu Ge dashed out of the elevator, this was what he saw. As he followed the helpless gazes of several security guards to take a closer look at the situation inside the office, his frown deepened even more.

Faced with this scene, Qin Ruojing's already pale face turned even paler in an instant, and a hint of despair flashed in her eyes.

At the same time, several security guards also noticed Chu Ge and Qin Ruojing; their smoke-blackened, nearly unrecognizable faces became even more grim in an instant.

While the security guards were at a loss, not knowing what to say to Qin Ruojing, Chu Ge strode to a guard's side and asked rapidly, "Have you called the fire department?"

"Yes, the fire truck will be here soon."

"What about the fire extinguisher?"

"Used up, but it couldn't control the fire at all."

Just as Chu Ge was about to ask more, a guard suddenly exclaimed, "Chairman!"

Turning his head, Chu Ge's frown deepened.

In his sight, Qin Ruojing was rushing toward the Operation Management Department office, heedless of the raging flames!

Just as Qin Ruojing was about to step into the office, Chu Ge grabbed her arm, "Are you crazy?"

"Script! Script! Script!"

However, it was as if Qin Ruojing hadn't heard Chu Ge at all, struggling violently, her eyes fixed on the flames, repeatedly uttering the word "script."

"What's more important, the script or your life? The fire truck is almost here; you wait here for me!"

This time, no matter what, Chu Ge wouldn't let Qin Ruojing rush inside, his right hand gripping her wrist tightly like an iron clamp.

Not to mention the script might already be lost, even if it weren't, Qin Ruojing's going in would be utterly useless, simply a death wish.

"The script is important! More important than my life! Let go! Let go of me!"

Yet, to Chu Ge's surprise, Qin Ruojing shouted loudly into his ear, her tone unbelievably stubborn, her pale face showing a determination that sent chills down his spine. Taking advantage of his slight distraction, she suddenly lowered her head and bit fiercely into his arm.

"Hiss!"

Qin Ruojing bit down hard, and Chu Ge couldn't help but take a sharp breath, but even so, he still didn't let go. Instead, he raised one corner of his mouth, giving her a resigned smile she knew all too well.

"Alright, don't bite anymore. If you break your teeth, I can't afford to compensate. Where did you put the script?"

"In the safe." Hearing Chu Ge's voice next to her ear, Qin Ruojing let go, responding instinctively.

"Sigh, I really wonder if I owed you in my past life, being unlucky enough to work under you."

As these words reached Qin Ruojing's ears, she suddenly felt a faint thud at the back of her head, followed by a blackout as her consciousness began to blur.

"Script, scri…"

Still murmuring the word "script," Qin Ruojing's body softly collapsed into Chu Ge's arms.

"You guys, keep an eye on her for me."

After delivering a hand chop to knock Qin Ruojing unconscious, Chu Ge turned to the now utterly gobsmacked security guards and said before carrying her to the wall, letting her head lean against an office door, sitting her down.

Having dealt with Qin Ruojing, Chu Ge turned his gaze to a security guard of similar build to him and said, "Brother, lend me your clothes."

It wasn't until the guard's gaze met Chu Ge's that he suddenly snapped back to reality, realizing that this was the same madman who had flown on a skateboard over a bunch of traffic cops' heads the other day!

Although he didn't know why Chu Ge wanted him to take off his clothes, the security guard quickly nodded and stripped off his uniform in a few swift moves.

When Chu Ge took the guard's uniform, he soon gave him an answer that left him dumbfounded.
