The Supreme Beauty Fell in Love with Me

Chapter 501: Arriving Just in Time

Lin Chuan headed toward Changlin Factory, whereas Song Jianguo got into his own Audi car and left. Tang Yumeng let out a heavy sigh of relief. Finally, everything had come to a satisfactory conclusion.

"Secretary Tang, why do you think Secretary Song suddenly decided to lend a hand?" Xiao Xue asked.

"I don't know." Tang Yumeng shook her head and said, "Neither earlier nor later, just at this particular time. Song Jianguo must have his own concerns. But, did you hear what Song Jianguo said just now?"

"What did he say?" Xiao Xue looked at Tang Yumeng, puzzled.

"He said he wanted to thank Lin Chuan?" Tang Yumeng furrowed her brows and said, "Could there be some hidden reason behind this?"

"Maybe there is." Xiao Xue nodded and said, "Probably Secretary Song's help is related to this matter."

"Let's not worry about it too much." Tang Yumeng shook her head and then said, "This matter has nothing to do with me, as long as Secretary Song is willing to help, that is the best outcome. I've made calls to him before, and he repeatedly declined, yet now he's agreed to help, which is somewhat strange."

What Tang Yumeng didn't know was that it wasn't because Lin Chuan had once saved Song Xiaojia, nor was it due to Song Jianguo's sudden change of heart. It was because Song Jianguo had received a phone call from Beijing today, and the call just so happened to inquire about Lin Chuan, prompting Song Jianguo to decide to help.

Upon receiving the call, Song Jianguo immediately felt that Lin Chuan must have impressive connections in Beijing.

Moreover, the call was from one of Song Jianguo's own mentors.

"Xiao Song, if you can befriend Lin Chuan, then make every effort to do so; and if you can't, try not to offend him," the mentor's words carried underlying meanings that made Song Jianguo always feel there was more to it. Thus, Song Jianguo immediately decided to help without hesitation, as anyone who could catch his mentor's attention couldn't be trivial.

After all, if his mentor said so, there must be a reason for it. By helping Lin Chuan, he was honoring his mentor's favor. And if Lin Chuan really had influential connections, it would not only be honoring his mentor, but would also put Lin Chuan in his debt.

Changlin Factory.

Wafts of delicious food aroma spread through the house.

"Mom, I'm home." As Lin Chuan approached the door, he couldn't help blurting out this phrase.

"Chuanzi, you're back?" His mother poked her head out of the kitchen and said with a smile, "Hurry and wash your hands, dinner is ready."

This kind of exchange had been a daily occurrence since his childhood. As a result, even as an adult, Lin Chuan couldn't help shouting it out every time he approached the door. Hearing his mother's affectionate words, Lin Chuan's heart unavoidably surged with happiness, and he quickly responded, "Alright, I'm going to wash my hands right away."

"My silly boy," his mother smiled softly.

After dinner, his mother inquired about Nuo Xiaoxi, as she naturally knew that Nuo Xiaoxi had gone to Sanya for a vacation.

"Chuanzi, Xiaoxi told me a few days back that she applied to Jiang University, is this true?" Mrs. Lin asked.

"Yes." Lin Chuan nodded and said, "That's indeed what she told me."

"This child, I heard she scored very high on her exams." Mrs. Lin frowned and said, "Her school teachers even called me, saying she was the science top-scorer of Jiangbei City this time around. You see? With such good scores, why would she..."

"Mom, it's Xiaoxi's choice, we should respect it," Lin Chuan glanced at Mrs. Lin.

"This child…" Mrs. Lin seemed somewhat regretful; with such high scores, one should apply to Tsinghua or Peking University, why would she choose Jiang University? Although Jiang University was also a national key university, in comparison with world-class universities like Tsinghua and Peking University, it certainly couldn't hold up. Mrs. Lin wiped a tear and asked, "Chuanzi, do you know why Xiaoxi applied to Jiang University?"

"Why?" Lin Chuan asked, perplexed.

"It's all because of you." Mrs. Lin sighed and said, "Xiaoxi is a child who knows gratitude, she doesn't want to be too far from you, so she applied to Jiang University, which would make it convenient to come home on weekends. Do you understand?"

"This..." Lin Chuan hesitated for a moment.

"Chuanzi, don't ever let down Xiaoxi's goodwill in the future," Mrs. Lin sighed again.

Lin Chuan somewhat understood, but Nuo Xiaoxi's feelings still made him feel overwhelmed. There was a six or seven years age difference between them. And Xiaoxi, still just eighteen, was in the prime of her youth; how could she delay her youthful years because of him?

After dinner, Lin Chuan left the house and made his way to the transportation market.

The brothers at the transportation market still didn't know that Lin Chuan had been released. They continued to gather at the market, plotting how to get Lin Chuan out. After several days of effort, Zhong Wenyi had gotten ahold of some information. Although it wasn't enough to overturn the case, it would at least prevent Lin Chuan's case from being concluded too hastily.
