Urban Immortal Cultivation Supreme

Chapter 1046: You May Leave

He let out a bitter laugh, then still raised his head, looking at the darkness above, and spoke once more in a voice that remained distant, unfamiliar, as if it did not come from his own mouth.

"How long do you intend to keep me locked up?"

"Afraid to answer, are you? Afraid I'll expose your conspiracy?"

"I know you're here, no need to hide anymore. I know you're all watching, and I know what you want to do."

"Let me out."

The fragmented words came out from Axing's mouth. It seemed he had completely collapsed, speaking incoherently. Yet still, no one replied to him; this place had only him, not the others he claimed were watching him.

"I know what you're afraid of; isn't it just the fear of your conspiracy being uncovered?"

"I tell you, no matter how well you hide, you can't escape those people's sharp eyes. Do you really think they would be unaware? Do you really think they wouldn't have plans? I tell you, the person to thwart your plans has already emerged. You just wait for your doom. Hahaha..."

Mad laughter erupted from Axing's mouth. Though lacking strength, it was feeble to the extreme. At this point, no matter how formidable Axing was, he couldn't possibly have much strength left. In this place devoid of Energy, surviving only on internal Energy up to now was already fortunate, but enduring any longer would be incredibly difficult.

In such darkness, Axing didn't know what meaning was left in surviving, yet if he stopped living, there was nothing he could do. The little bit of remaining belief kept him going, knowing those who trapped him were waiting for this moment, as it was the only way to keep him under control.

"Do you truly think being Immortal is a good thing? After living so long, haven't you seen through even a little bit?" He spoke weakly with his eyes closed, his voice ethereal as if it might vanish at any moment.

"Back then, you killed Yin Ning for experimentation, then tricked Qi Yan into the plot. If it weren't for those old folks intervening, Qi Yan might have died at your hands too. I thought after being frightened by those old folks, you'd have given up on the experiment already, but after all these years, how unexpected it is to see it reappear." Muttering as if in delirium, Axing recounted everything he knew. But towards the end, his words blurred, his consciousness already drifting into confusion.

Quietly sunk into darkness, the whole world became a void. At this moment, if someone could see the situation here, they could see Axing slowly dissolving into the darkness, becoming part of it.

"He's going to die." A cold voice came, from the darkness or as if from a distant location, devoid of any emotion.

"He knows too much, let him die if he must." Another voice, similarly cold, seemed to emit two cold glints from their eyes upon speaking.

"Can't die." Yet another unfamiliar voice offered a different answer in an extremely assured tone, as if seeing Axing appear vigorous before him.

"Whether he dies or not, he's no longer of consequence to us." Still an unfamiliar voice, slightly sharp, with a tone of extreme indifference, "as long as our experiment succeeds, what do those old folks even count for."

"I'm going to kill him, he knows what we're doing."

"Forget it, just let him perish here on his own." A cold tone, "he won't live much longer."

"So it really was you causing trouble." A soft sigh, carrying a hint of resignation, the moment Axing's body started dissolving into the darkness he suddenly sat up, "Even though I suspected, I couldn't be sure until I saw you."

"Five Elders."

Axing's sudden revival shocked the five people, their faces showing surprise, but in such darkness, no one could see their expressions. So, no matter how surprised they were, no one would see it.

"Truly disappointing." Axing sat cross-legged with not a hint of tension, seeming utterly unafraid of the Five Elders killing him, "I thought you were long dead. Didn't expect you to still be alive, looks like those old folks back then couldn't completely destroy you five guys."

"You sure know a lot." A cold laugh followed, then a voice moved from far to near, as if speaking right next to Axing's ear.

"Stop pretending to be ghosts. If you could kill me, you wouldn't have kept me here for so long." A light chuckle, slowly filled with contempt.

"You truly think we don't dare kill you."

"Of course you dare to kill me, it's just that right now you can't kill me." Axing seemed to be confident the other side couldn't harm him, utterly unconcerned about their threats.

"Even if you could kill me now, you wouldn't dare act impulsively. Secrets aren't exclusive to you." Coldly laughing, Axing, whose powers weren't normally considered overwhelming, at this moment seemed deep and unfathomable, causing the Five Elders to feel a twinge of unease.

Axing was right, they indeed couldn't kill him, not to mention after Axing uttered the latter sentence, it stirred a twinge of unease within them. Though unaware of Axing's secrets, for the careful Five Elders, they'd rather endure for a while than take risks due to impulse. Among so many people who've passed, the only one they couldn't fully understand was Axing.

"Are you threatening us?"

"Am I?" A lazy response, "I'm just talking to you, mentioning a few little facts along the way."

"Little facts, huh? So, are you sure you'll be able to get out of here?"

"No."

"In that case, as long as we've trapped you, what does it matter to us if you have secrets?"

"Oh, as you said, that's indeed the case. But are you willing to take that risk?" With a playful smile, Axing showed an innocent expression that inexplicably instilled a sense of fear in others' hearts.

"We're indeed unwilling to take that risk, but some things are beyond our control. If we can't trap you, then why not let you go."

"True enough. After letting me go, you indeed have plenty of opportunities to kill me." Axing tilted his head, looking towards the dark expanse, "If I'm not mistaken, the outside world has probably mostly fallen into your hands, whereas what's left is simply what you've deliberately left behind."

"Being too smart doesn't usually lead to a long life."

"I've lived long enough, wishing to die sooner." As Axing laughed, the expression in his eyes grew increasingly cold.

"In that case, then you should leave."

With that sentence, a sliver of light abruptly appeared in the dark space. Even though extremely faint, in a place utterly devoid of light, the sudden appearance of any light was enough to thrill the heart. The light began to spread, then transformed into a portal-kind of thing, with bright rays coming through from the other side of the portal, though still unable to brighten this dark place.

"In that case, I'll just help myself then." Axing stood up, swaggering towards the portal, and as he reached the entrance, he turned to look at the darkness.

"Pardon my curiosity, Tang Mu and Qing He, are they still alive?" After asking, he paid no mind to whether they could answer, turned back, and stepped into the portal, the light consuming his figure, with the portal vanishing, leaving the darkness still as dark.
