Extra Survival Guide to Overpowering Hero and Villain

Chapter 227: Village Chief II

Chief Seraphina's house looked more like a small fortress than a home. Thick wooden walls, metal reinforcements, and guards standing outside. Fenric felt like he was entering a boss dungeon.

Inside, it was neat and filled with weapons on the walls — swords, spears, even a giant axe taller than Fenric. Spunky whimpered and stayed close behind him.

Chief Seraphina sat down at a large table and motioned for them to join her. Fenric and Liana sat across from her.

She studied Fenric for a moment.

"You are not from this world. That alone makes you important."

Fenric nodded slowly. "Yeah… falling out of the sky into a lake is a pretty big hint."

The Chief continued, voice steady.

"The gods have been moving unusually lately. More monsters are appearing. Storms are worse. And now… that Kraken attacked without warning."

She leaned forward.

"You fought it. You wounded it twice. That should not be possible for someone who just awakened power yesterday."

Fenric scratched his cheek awkwardly. "Well… I mostly panicked and shot a lot."

Seraphina didn't laugh. She was too serious.

"You may become hope for us. But hope must be trained."

She stood up suddenly and walked toward him.

"Show me your hand," Chief Seraphina said.

Fenric blinked, confused, but raised his right hand for her. She took it gently and inspected his palm, then turned it over. Her eyes narrowed.

"There is no class marking… Where is your class symbol?"

"The… what?" Fenric asked, already worried.

"Have you awakened your class or not?" Seraphina pressed.

"I haven't," he admitted. "My system said it will unlock when I reach level 10."

Seraphina stared at him in disbelief.

"You mean… you have not awakened. Yet you wounded a Kraken and forced it to retreat."

Fenric gave a small shrug. "It didn't like being hit in the eye."

The Chief didn't smile. She looked even more serious now.

"A hero falling from the sky… landing in monster-filled waters… and yet arriving to our shore alive." She paced slowly as she spoke. "Then, despite being untrained… you easily injure a Rank 2 sea beast."

Fenric scratched his head. "I wouldn't say 'easily.' I nearly died. Twice."

Seraphina turned sharply and looked straight into his eyes.

"You are either genius… or blessed."

Fenric gulped. "Can it be a third option? Like… lucky?"

Liana stepped forward, voice soft with concern. "Chief, he is still scared and confused. He just got here."

Seraphina nodded and returned to her seat, folding her arms.

"Alright then… Fenric, what do you know about this world?" she asked.

He scratched his cheek. "Just that it's basically a playground for gods?"

Seraphina's expression tightened, but she nodded again.

"Correct. And since you know that much, let me explain about power in our world as well."

She took a deep breath.

"In Vaelyps, everyone awakens their class between ages ten and twenty. The earlier they awaken, the greater their potential is believed to be."

Fenric listened closely, trying his best to absorb the information.

"Before awakening, everyone is considered Rank 0," she continued. "After awakening, they become Rank 1. From there, ranks rise one by one — all the way up to Rank 10."

She raised a single finger.

"Each rank contains fifty levels. Every time you level up, you grow stronger — physically, magically, spiritually."

Fenric blinked. "So… I'm Rank 0. Level 7. And I punched a Kraken."

Seraphina stared at him, expression unreadable.

"…How are you leveling? And how do you even know your level," she asked slowly, "when you have not awakened and have not connected to the Akashic System?"

Fenric opened his mouth to explain, but the system suddenly gave him advice:

[Just say you can see your level and that's it. Also mention that since you are from another world, you might have got connected to Akashic system bit early]

Fenric cleared his throat. "I think… it's because I'm not from this world? My system shows me my level, and maybe Its the same Akashic system you are talking about, I might have got connected to it bit early."

Seraphina narrowed her eyes slightly but accepted the explanation.

"You said the Akashic System awakens your class once you reach Level 10, correct?" she asked.

Fenric nodded. "Yeah, that's what my system tells me too."

Seraphina stood up, confidence radiating from her.

"Very well. Then we will get you to Level 10."

Fenric paled. "Uh… how exactly?"

She cracked her knuckles, a grin forming.

"You're going hunting," Seraphina declared.

Fenric swallowed, but nodded. If reaching Level 10 meant discovering his class and learning how this world actually worked… then he had to do it.

His system suddenly responded in his mind:

[The Akashic System existed long before the gods. Even they gained their power through it.]

Fenric frowned inwardly. Then why didn't it stop them from becoming tyrants?

The system replied calmly:

[The Akashic System is not alive. It does not think. It has no heart or logic. It exists only to show a person's true potential and guide their growth.]

[It tracks progress. It awakens hidden power. But it cannot interfere with fate or morality.]

Fenric looked down at his hands, thinking.

So it just… helps people get stronger, no matter who they are?

Fenric let out a breath.

"So this whole world runs on something that doesn't care who wins or loses," he muttered.

"Just like old Earth…" he mumbled under his breath.

He looked down at the bow strapped to him.

"Now let's see what this new toy can do."

He examined it carefully. The weapon shimmered under the light — a crystalline blue bow with what looked like six thin strings woven perfectly into one.

A soft glow pulsed as the system revealed its details:
