The Last King Of Darkness

Chapter 590: Exploration (Second Update)

This is an absurdly large space, at least a thousand yards wide, with blue-gray walls towering up to unseen distances, and below, it's all pure black viscous matter.

Rod and his five companions are in a mid-wall tunnel, assaulted by a strong pollution odor.

Liszt had just stretched his head out of the tunnel, and his face changed.

"The laws here have been altered. There's an eternal field within the Divine Tower. This Ancient God isn't dead yet, but he shouldn't be inside the Divine Tower."

No. 7 shook his large beard: "The first prohibition I sensed is void restriction!"

No. 9 said anxiously: "What do we do? Are we supposed to wade through that pile of pollutants? If I'm not mistaken, this seems to be the Divine Tower's cesspit—I can already sense the filth accumulated over thousands of years! No. 1, let's head back!"

Liszt shook his head: "No, I can't go back now."

"We can use emergency measures!"

Liszt's face darkened: "Space markers are extremely precious, using one reduces our stock and imposes a significant burden on our souls, possibly causing soul damage."

No. 19 patted his shriveled head: "We're out of options, but No. 0's soul can't suffer such damage. Unless it's a matter of life and death, we must not use the marker."

"But!"

No. 7 rushed anxiously:

"How do we cross? This fallen Ancient God isn't dead, and inside its Divine Tower, the field's power is too strong for us to confront!"

Liszt remained silent, showing a troubled expression.

Just as everyone was at a loss, Rod suddenly recalled Asa's voice in his mind.

"Food! I smell supreme food! Master, let me eat it; this is the essence of god's excrement, which I urgently need. Quickly, quickly!"

Asa kept urging, as if afraid the rare feast would escape.

Rod covered his forehead; he had never imagined that he would resolve the issue this way.

"Uh, maybe I have a way."

Liszt was surprised: "No. 0, haven't you entered the Lawyer's Domain yet? Without mastery of the Source Law, there's no authority over the world's laws; how can you change the laws altered by other authorities?"

Rod shook his head: "No, I can't alter the void restriction."

He raised a hand and summoned the Phantom.

"But it can eat excrement."

The Phantom instantly turned turbid, with a dust storm-like motion within, while Asa began laughing wildly.

"Hahaha! I'm..."

This time, Rod had experience and immediately forcefully silenced his voice, stopping the Phantom's laughter midway.

However, what happened next was something they would never forget in their lives.

The Phantom descended to the bottom and began devouring frantically, stuffing its mouth with the pure black viscous matter.

"Hahaha, this is so delicious!"

Asa couldn't speak but resonated with his will in spirit.

"So tasty!"

"Our power is growing!"

"Haha, I've taken another step on the path to becoming the King of Excrement-devouring."

Rod had to cut off all of Asa's communication channels.

After about a quarter of an hour, Asa suddenly stood up, with his muddy soul rolling quickly, took a deep breath, and like a dragon drinking a river, sucked all the black mixture at the bottom of the cesspit into his belly.

His entire soul turned black and yellow, turned around, bowed gracefully to Rod, indicating his task was done.

Rod didn't immediately dissolve the Phantom, but instead said in his mind: "Don't return to the Dream Realm until you've digested it completely."

He turned to Liszt and the others and said: "Let's get down."

Taking a deep leap, he jumped first.

The bottom of the cesspit was exposed; the blue-gray stone slabs had little residue left, and with caution, one wouldn't get polluted.

Rod walked forward amidst the four's bewildered glances, trying hard to make it seem like a normal occurrence that anyone could achieve with effort.

Liszt, who had seen much of the world, quickly shook off his shock, closed his eyes, and released Spiritual Energy waves, quickly finding a passage upwards.

"This way!"

Liszt led the way to a corner of the cesspit.

No. 7 breathed a sigh of relief: "Thank goodness there are no monsters here; otherwise, I can't even imagine."

Before he finished speaking, a giant monster abruptly appeared in front of them, its body pale blue-gray, like a stone-carved statue, with clear contours, roughly the size of a house, but its head was only half left, as if something had sliced off the upper half along its nose.

"Wedge Demon!"

Liszt exclaimed in shock.

"How is this possible? Why didn't my characteristic detect it? Why is it here?"

Seeing Rod's puzzled gaze, No. 7 explained: "Wedge Demon is one of the Royal City's toughest monsters! It has extremely strong polluting properties and constantly emits twisted power; its defense is formidable, and its Spiritual Energy is thick..."

Bang!

At some unknown time, Rod suddenly appeared behind the Wedge Demon, with a natural large hole in its soul, right above its head.

Rod did nothing, just went straight for its head, and with a reversed hand, stabbed it in.

A strange sound came from the void, and the Wedge Demon immediately collapsed like fragments, quickly turning into ashes.

[Soul of Wedge Demon]

Rod smirked: "Still quite decent."

In his mind, the Book of Knowledge yelled: "More, Master, don't stop, I want more!"

"I know."

Rod replied impatiently.

"Stop rushing me."

Liszt and the other four were astounded by Rod's shockingly swift action, and only now did he understand what the King meant by that statement.

Facing non-King Level monsters, Rod was indeed very effective, no less than Special Level Combatants, even possessing more enemy-countering methods.

"Truly our star of hope!"

Liszt thought, quickly using his characteristic to locate the upward passage.

The passage was extremely long, at least tens of thousands of yards in length, and from the outside, it was evident the Divine Tower didn't possess such large space.

"The interior space is indeed compressed; hopefully, there aren't new law prohibitions," No. 9 whispered.

At that moment, Asa's voice suddenly echoed in the mind again.

"Master, I smell the scent of conspiracy, my evil thought instincts are stirring."

Rod frowned, asking in his consciousness: "What do you mean?"

"Hmm, it seems there's Ancient Evil Thought in your squad."

Rod's heart skipped a beat, he asked quickly: "How do you know? Are you sure? Who is it?"

"Hehehe, Master, my sense of smell is very sensitive, but I can't be certain, it's just a possibility; maybe the evil thought contacted someone around you, or maybe the evil thought's conspiracy is affecting someone."

"But regardless, Master, be cautious."

Rod's heart sank, and he replied: "I understand!"
