Return to the City: The Strongest King

Chapter 1360: Haunted – Part 2

"Deputy Chief Chen, you're too kind. We're old friends after all, haha..."

The township police station is located within the township government building. However, they are not under the jurisdiction of the township government, as the police system is a vertical unit that only obeys directives from the district bureau above.

Nonetheless, the township police station must collaborate with the township government's work. The deputy chief has a good relationship with Chen Zhengmin and often benefits from him, so when Chen Zhengmin asks for a favor, he is happy to assist.

Most importantly, he thinks dealing with an outsider is not difficult at all.

After hanging up the phone, he felt much more at ease and turned to the others behind him, saying: "Don't scare yourself there. Wake up Xiao Sun, you two idiots."

The guy with the injured wrist shrunk back a bit, hesitated for a moment, then quickly moved to the front seat and with a mix of pushing and yelling, finally managed to wake Xiao Sun.

The two of them no longer dared to lay a hand on Song Xiaodong; in fact, they felt chilled just being close to him, having experienced firsthand something that the deputy chief dismisses lightly.

Inside the township police station, Song Xiaodong was detained in a small room. Soon, the deputy chief and Chen Zhengmin came in together, along with the police officer surnamed Sun who had passed out earlier. As for the officer with the injured wrist, his pain worsened and he eventually went to the hospital.

"Mr. Song, we meet again." Chen Zhengmin approached Song Xiaodong, looking down at him with a mocking gaze.

Song Xiaodong replied with a disdainful look, "This time, I'll never see you again."

Misunderstanding Song Xiaodong's statement, Chen Zhengmin smugly said, "Ha, you still have such awareness. Very well, I'll give you another chance, let's have a chat."

"What is there for me to talk to you about?"

Chen Zhengmin's face darkened, "You're at the police station now. If you don't cooperate with me, the consequences will be unbearable for you for a lifetime. Surely you don't want to throw away your future, right?"

Song Xiaodong smiled faintly, "Can you decide my future? You should be worried about your own future."

Realizing Song Xiaodong's unyielding attitude, Chen Zhengmin coldly said, "My future? Kid, you're too arrogant. Seems like I need to teach you how to behave."

Song Xiaodong looked at Chen Zhengmin as if he were a dead man, too lazy to say a word.

Chen Zhengmin's face turned even more unpleasant, and he turned to the deputy chief saying, "Show him how to behave."

The deputy chief nodded and signaled to another officer.

The officer took a step back, shaking his head, "Deputy Chief, this kid is strange. I..."

"What a fool." The deputy chief cursed in anger, then grabbed a rubber baton, weighing it in his palm, sneering as he approached Song Xiaodong, "You sure won't cry until you see the coffin, huh?"

Then, Song Xiaodong simply closed his eyes.

"Damn!" This was outright contempt for the deputy chief, angering him enough to raise the rubber baton and slam it down on Song Xiaodong's head. His strike was indeed vicious, aiming straight for Song Xiaodong's head.

Song Xiaodong's eyes suddenly snapped open, surprised at the deputy chief's brutal attempt. Even though the rubber baton was flexible, a blow like this to the head could be devastating.

For a law enforcer to do such a thing, how could Song Xiaodong not be enraged? He tilted his head to dodge the baton, and then let it hit his shoulder.

This time, he was even angrier and exerted stronger True Qi, causing the baton to rebound from his body, hitting the deputy chief's face hard.

The blow was fierce, knocking the deputy chief's head back abruptly, and causing him to fall straight to the ground, blood spurting from his nose and two front teeth flying out.

Chen Zhengmin, who was smirking, waiting for Song Xiaodong to scream and beg for mercy, was suddenly dumbfounded when the deputy chief fell lifelessly to the ground in the blink of an eye.

This left Chen Zhengmin perplexed, his smile froze.

"Ah!" The other officer exclaimed, face turning pale, retreating in fear while stuttering, "I told you, this kid's weird, can't hit him, you didn't listen."

Recalling the deputy chief's words, Chen Zhengmin suddenly felt a chill down his spine from witnessing it firsthand, involuntarily stepping back.

Song Xiaodong sneered at Chen Zhengmin and closed his eyes again.

Song Xiaodong's reaction intensified the pressure on Chen Zhengmin, leaving him unsure how to proceed.

In fear, the officer stammered, "Deputy Chief Chen, this guy knows spells, we can't provoke him. If he curses us, we're done for!"

Upon hearing this, sweat streamed down Chen Zhengmin's face. In rural areas, people deeply believe in such supernatural matters, and Chen Zhengmin was no exception.

As he pondered what to do next, the door suddenly opened and two people walked in.

"Chief Li, Chief Zhao!"

The ones entering were the township chief and the police station chief.

"What's going on here?" Chief Zhao asked immediately upon seeing the deputy chief on the ground, his face turning stern.

Chen Zhengmin promptly explained, "Chief Zhao, the deputy chief was questioning this man, then suddenly fell."

The officer quickly interjected, "No, no, Deputy Chief was hitting him, then it happened. This guy can't be hit, can't be hit at all."

Chief Zhao's face changed, angrily demanding, "Hitting people? Who permitted that? Even if he's a murder suspect, coercive interrogation isn't allowed. You really have some nerve! Tell me, what exactly did he do?"

"This...this..." The officer turned to Chen Zhengmin.

Chen Zhengmin grimaced, knowing Chief Zhao wasn't aligned with him, having tried to befriend him multiple times, only to be ignored.

"Deputy Chief Chen, what's happening here?" Chief Li questioned Chen Zhengmin sternly.

"This guy is here for voluntary teaching, but after providing mysterious treatments, Accountant Xiao Liu had to be hospitalized, so..."

"Accountant Xiao Liu ended up in the hospital, so you had the police arrest him and even hit him? What's your basis for that? Do you have the hospital's final incident report or a complaint from the victim?" Chief Li immediately sensed the dubiousness of the situation, especially hearing that Song Xiaodong was a volunteer teacher, which infuriated him even more.

"I... I..." Sweat poured down Chen Zhengmin's face, and he wiped it away, "Chief Li, it was rash of me, I'll reflect on my actions."

Chief Li snorted; though extremely displeased with Chen Zhengmin's actions, he couldn't push things too far with his deputy, "Quickly apologize to this man. He's here to volunteer teach, a wonderful thing, yet you caused this mess."

"Yes, yes, Mr. Song, it was my mistake." Chen Zhengmin hastily apologized to Song Xiaodong, pressured by Chief Li and fearing Song Xiaodong's eerie spells.

"An apology is enough?" Song Xiaodong opened his eyes and stared coldly at Chen Zhengmin.
