Martial Arts Overlord

Chapter 364: Such a Fast Blade!

Luo Feng exited the East City Gate and headed straight east.

He's still following me. I wonder who sent this rat…

As Luo Feng pressed on, a cold smile curled at the corner of his mouth.

Upon leaving Dayang City, Luo Feng could feel a chilling murderous intent tailing him. By now, he was several miles away from the city, yet this intent still clung relentlessly to him. It was clear he was the target.

This person was extremely cautious, always maintaining a distance of a kilometer, a sign of a true expert.

In the Ninth Heavenly Court Realm, Yuan Qi was imbued with Divine Sense, allowing perception of everything within a one-kilometer radius without needing to use one's eyes.

The fact that the individual had not entered his one-kilometer radius meant they knew Luo Feng was at the Ninth Heavenly Court Realm.

Too bad, I'm not an ordinary Ninth Heavenly Court Realm expert.

A mocking smile lit up Luo Feng's face. His Soul Power was immense. Despite his unusual cultivation at the Ninth Heavenly Court Realm, his senses were even sharper than those of a peak Ninth Heavenly Court Realm Martial Artist, allowing him to probe as far as three kilometers.

Without looking back, Luo Feng released his Soul Power.

HUM!

His Soul Power radiated backward like ripples in a pond, painting a clear picture of every sight along the way in Luo Feng's mind, as vivid as a painting.

When Luo Feng's Soul Power radiated two kilometers backward, a middle-aged man with a square face and large ears, clad in green martial attire, came within his probing range.

Luo Feng frowned slightly. He had no recollection of ever meeting this square-faced Martial Artist. But the strong murderous intent the man emanated signaled ill will.

Could he be from the Duanmu Family? But Qingmu Peak is thousands of miles from Dayang City. Even if news of Duanmu Ji's death leaked, it couldn't have reached Qingmu Peak so quickly.

Luo Feng frowned slightly, unable to guess the identity of the man tailing him.

Never mind, I'll just capture him and find out.

With a glint in his eye, Luo Feng made his decision and continued to dart forward at the same speed. This place was too close to Dayang City; an altercation here might draw unwanted attention.

Hmph, it seems he hasn't detected me. What a fool! The Family Head actually dispatched all four of us Azure Blood Four Tigers. It's complete overkill. This greenhorn... I could take on ten like him without breaking a sweat…

The square-faced Martial Artist, trailing two kilometers behind Luo Feng, wore an increasingly cold smile as he saw Luo Feng maintain the same speed.

He didn't strike immediately. Other Martial Artists occasionally appeared in the vicinity, and Luo Feng was now the Dayang City Lord's son-in-law. If word got out that members of the Ye family had murdered Luo Feng, the consequences would be severe.

The square-faced Martial Artist decided to wait until they were in a deserted area to make his move.

Each harboring their own intentions, they maintained their distance, one leading and one following at high speed.

Half an incense stick's time later, the surrounding landscape gradually turned desolate and uninhabited, devoid of any human presence.

The square-faced Martial Artist's eyes flashed murderously. It's time! he thought. Just as he was about to speed up and assassinate Luo Feng, he suddenly saw Luo Feng stop.

What's going on? Did he realize I was following him?

The sight of Luo Feng stopping suddenly sent a jolt through the square-faced Martial Artist. Numerous thoughts instantly flashed through his mind, his expression uncertain.

Impossible! I've stayed two kilometers away the whole time. Even if he's at the peak of the Ninth Heavenly Court Realm, he couldn't possibly sense me!

The square-faced Martial Artist immediately shook his head, ceasing his wild thoughts. He fixed his gaze on Luo Feng, prepared to unleash a Thunderclap Stroke and kill him in a surprise attack!

WHOOSH!

The Martial Artist, his Yuan Qi revved to the maximum and his sword clenched tightly, rocketed forward.

As he flew through the air, an azure radiance surged from his body. With his sword as the head and his body as the form, he transformed into a giant wolf that lunged at Luo Feng, carrying a menacing wind.

SWISH!

The giant wolf's Sword Gang moved at an unthinkable speed, leaving only the faint sound of tearing air in its wake. Its sword tip was less than half a foot from Luo Feng's back.

"Die!" the square-faced Martial Artist roared, a storm of murderous intent on his face as his sword pierced directly through Luo Feng.

BOOM!

The earth trembled as the giant wolf's Sword Qi carved a horrifying scar into the ground. Yet, the 'Luo Feng' it had struck still stood there, a derisive smile playing on his lips. Then, a gust of wind blew, and that image, smile and all, dissipated with it.

What just happened! The square-faced Martial Artist stared as the image of Luo Feng dissolved in the breeze, the distinct, cold smirk on its lips sending an unexplained chill through his heart.

CLAP. CLAP. CLAP…

The sound of clapping suddenly came from behind. The square-faced Martial Artist spun around hastily, only to see that Luo Feng had somehow moved behind him, standing ten steps away.

Luo Feng clapped his hands lightly, looking at the square-faced Martial Artist as a faint smile tugged at his lips. "Great swordsmanship. Unfortunately, it's just too slow."

Too slow!

The square-faced Martial Artist was struck dumb by Luo Feng's words. His Qinglong Ming Wind Sword, an inferior-grade Profound Level martial art renowned for its speed, was being called slow!

Unmoved by the Martial Artist's shock, Luo Feng spoke with indifference, "Speak. Who sent you to assassinate me? I'll leave your corpse intact."

The square-faced Martial Artist, one of the Azure Blood Four Tigers and a late-stage Ninth Heavenly Court Realm Martial Artist, felt humiliated by Luo Feng's disdainful demeanor. His face hardened. "Kid, you just got lucky dodging one strike. Don't get too arrogant! Face another of my strikes!"

Before his words had finished reverberating, the sword in the square-faced Martial Artist's hand hummed and slashed towards Luo Feng.

WHOOSH!

Ten Qi Dragons swirled around Luo Feng as he casually stepped aside, hands clasped behind his back, evading the incoming sword by a hairbreadth.

He dodged it again! How is that possible!

The square-faced Martial Artist's eyes nearly popped out of his head as he gazed at Luo Feng, a chill rising unbidden in his heart.

Dodging one sword strike could be attributed to luck, but evading two in a row? That was a display of genuine skill!

Escape! Without a second thought, the square-faced Martial Artist once again unleashed a wave of Sword Qi, blocking Luo Feng's path. He channeled all his Yuan Qi and recklessly fled into the distance.

BOOM!

Luo Feng cleaved the Sword Qi with a palm strike. In the blink of an eye, he had caught up to the fleeing Martial Artist.

"That was the third strike. Now it's my turn."

As he spoke, the Fury Flame Knife appeared in his hand, and he slashed it through the air.

Seeing Luo Feng catch up, the square-faced Martial Artist's scalp tingled. He roared and tried to deploy his Protective Gang Energy to block Luo Feng's saber strike. With his late-stage Ninth Heavenly Court Realm cultivation, even if his Qinggong was inferior to Luo Feng's, he should still be able to fend off the attack.

SWISH!

The saber's gleam flashed through the air, which seemed to part on its own. Bloodlight flared. By the time the square-faced Martial Artist came to his senses, a sharp pain shot through him. He looked down to see his right arm had been severed, though he hadn't even realized when.

What a fast saber! the Martial Artist exclaimed in his heart. Only then did blood spurt from his severed arm, a testament to how incredibly swift that strike had been.

Luo Feng looked at the grievously wounded Martial Artist and nodded, a satisfied smile spreading across his face.

After his Shocking Thunder Saber Technique broke through to the second level, its power and speed were on a completely different level than before. Even a late-Ninth Heavenly Court Realm Martial Artist couldn't withstand a single strike from him.

Shifting his gaze, Luo Feng looked at the fallen square-faced Martial Artist.

"I am a Steward of the Ye family! If you kill me, you'll die too! Don't make a fatal mistake!" The square-faced Martial Artist struggled to rise from the ground, his face contorted in pain from his severed arm. Fear flickered in his eyes as he retreated unsteadily.

At this moment, he recognized that the young man before him was on an entirely different level. He was filled with regret. Why had he been so eager for glory and not waited for the others to arrive before attacking together?

"The Ye family? So, you're Ye Tang's dog," Luo Feng said, his eyes glinting with understanding. He breathed a sigh of relief; he'd initially thought this man was an assassin sent by the Duanmu Family, which would have been serious trouble.

Looking at the square-faced Martial Artist, Luo Feng asked, "Ye Tang sent more than just you to kill me, didn't he? How many others are there?"

The square-faced Martial Artist was a veteran of the Jianghu. He knew answering this question spelled certain death. Putting on a brave face, he retorted, "Hmph, don't expect to learn anything from me! You crippled our Young Master. Ten of your lives wouldn't be enough to pay for that! I suggest you flee while you still can!"

"Since you won't speak, then I'm afraid you must die."

Luo Feng wasted no more words and unleashed another chilling saber gleam.

SPLAT!

The square-faced Martial Artist had just opened his mouth to scream when his body was cleaved in two. Blood spurted several meters into the air.

"The moment you drew your sword against me, your fate was sealed."

Luo Feng shook his head, walked over to the square-faced Martial Artist's remains, and searched them.

Besides a few loose pieces of silver, he also found a storage ring.

Luo Feng channeled his Soul Power into the ring, retrieving its contents.

The storage ring didn't contain much. Aside from some miscellaneous items, there were three wooden boxes.

Luo Feng opened the boxes. The first two contained silver notes and some low-grade elixirs, altogether worth an estimated ten thousand Gold.

The Ye family truly lives up to its reputation as a wealthy clan in Dayang City, Luo Feng mused. Even one of their stewards carries over ten thousand Gold.

A smile spread across Luo Feng's face. Ten thousand Gold was a considerable fortune.

Luo Feng didn't know that this man was one of the highly esteemed Azure Blood Four Tigers in the Ye family, which explained his wealth.

I wonder what's in this box.

His gaze landed on the third wooden box. Luo Feng nonchalantly opened it, and his eyes narrowed.

The box was filled with Spirit Stones, all first-grade. He roughly estimated there were five to six hundred of them!

"This is a timely boon! Excellent! Thank you very much," Luo Feng exclaimed, a wide grin on his face as he stored the wooden box. After his cultivation advanced to the mid-Ninth Heavenly Court Realm, his consumption of Spirit Stones had increased. He'd already used up nearly half of the thousand or so Spirit Stones he possessed. These newly acquired stones were a welcome relief.

After storing away the box, Luo Feng looked up towards Dayang City, a cold glint flashing in his eyes.

He sensed people rapidly approaching from three kilometers away!

One, two, three... Two late-stage Ninth Heavenly Court Realm Martial Artists, and one peak Ninth Heavenly Court Realm Martial Artist. They're really pulling out all the stops to hunt me down. How flattering.

Luo Feng smiled. His eyes showed not a trace of anxiety but rather a strong desire for battle.

He wanted to test the true limits of his strength. This would give him a clearer understanding of his capabilities and help him prepare for confronting the Duanmu Family on Qingmu Peak.

Glancing to the side, Luo Feng's figure flickered, and he hid behind the earthen slope near the square-faced Martial Artist's corpse.

The ground here was stained red with blood, and a strong, bloody scent filled the air. As long as he concealed his aura, it would be difficult to be discovered.
