The King of Urban Mercenaries

Chapter 1015: Memories Carried Away by the Wind

"Pah! I finally understand why you're not as good as Lin Fei," Mu Shanshan said coldly.

"What? In what way?" Wu Yufeng asked.

Mu Shanshan looked at Wu Yufeng indifferently, saying, "Because you're not even human, you're a beast. How could a beast be stronger than Lin Fei?"

Wu Yufeng's face turned grim and pale as he slapped Mu Shanshan's face again. Her face swelled up, and the blood at the corner of her mouth and her disheveled hair made her look very miserable. Yet, her stubborn gaze, coldly staring at Wu Yufeng, made him feel quite uncomfortable.

"Tie her mouth! Let's see how she talks then!" Wu Yufeng ordered someone to tape Mu Shanshan's mouth, making her unable to speak.

As everything was set up, Wu Yufeng said coldly, "Hmph, Lin Fei, I'm waiting for a good show today. If you don't come, you'll regret it!" With that, Wu Yufeng glanced at Mu Shanshan and snorted coldly.

It was eight o'clock at night.

In the pitch-black night, no one visited this abandoned factory. After all, if an ordinary person came alone to this desolate and abandoned factory, they might scare themselves half to death.

Lin Fei drove Mu Shanshan's car to the front of the abandoned factory. This time, he wasn't afraid of Mu Shanshan blaming him.

"Hehe, it seems Lin Fei cares about you quite a bit, doesn't he? He's here after all." In front of the factory, a light bulb lit up the building. Lin Fei walked towards the factory, and the moment he stepped in, he immediately saw Mu Shanshan in the middle of the factory.

"Shanshan!" Lin Fei shouted, just about to step forward when Mu Shanshan suddenly struggled violently and then rushed forward.

But her body was tied to the chair behind her, and she ended up falling to the ground with the chair, face down, scraping her skin and leaving blood.

"You foolish woman, causing trouble for me. Help her up, Lin Coach will feel pity if she's hurt." Wu Yufeng smirked and ordered his two henchmen.

The two henchmen stepped forward, set Mu Shanshan upright again, and faced Lin Fei.

"Mmm! Mmm!"

Mu Shanshan kept signaling to Lin Fei. Seeing her in such a sorry state, with none of her usual aloofness, Lin Fei was filled with concern, and it pained him greatly.

"Shanshan, don't worry, I'll definitely get you out safely," Lin Fei said.

Wu Yufeng laughed loudly, "Lin Fei, who do you think you are? You must die today! Look at what's under your feet."

"A bomb, I know." The moment Lin Fei stepped in, he immediately felt something different underfoot, guessing that Wu Yufeng could only have planted a bomb.

Yet, Lin Fei decided to step in anyway, fearing the bomb's actual detonation would mean certain death, even with his exceptional physique, incapable of resisting a bomb's blast.

"Knowing yet stepping forward, I don't know whether to call you stupid or foolish," Wu Yufeng laughed.

At this moment, Lin Fei suddenly spread his hands and said, "Since you think I must die, may I ask something? Can you give me an answer?"

"Speak, I'm listening. If it makes you feel worse, I might just say it to make you happy," Wu Yufeng laughed.

"Was it you who killed Little Tiger?!" Lin Fei's voice suddenly turned cold.

Wu Yufeng laughed and said, "Little Tiger, your former comrade, your brother, right? I didn't kill him."

"What?" Lin Fei couldn't believe it.

Seeing Lin Fei's stunned expression, Wu Yufeng immediately laughed, "Haha, you really are an idiot. I say I didn't, so I didn't? Hahaha!"

"You mean, you killed him?" Lin Fei squinted his eyes, emitting a dangerous glint. Everyone familiar with Lin Fei knew this expression signaled extreme anger.

"No, I didn't kill Little Tiger, but I did aim for you. He jumped in to take the bullet for you, which is why you're alive today," Wu Yufeng laughed. "Thinking back to that scene, it was beautiful, watching your despair was thrilling."

Lin Fei's arm trembled, his body shook, his fists clenched fiercely, his expression chilly, murderous intent spreading around him as memories of the past flooded his mind.

It was a tough mission, but for their Special Forces group, it was nothing out of the ordinary.

At the time, a weapons group was encircled by the Council's army, but they had many weapons, so the resistance was fierce and inflicted heavy damage on the armed forces of the Council.

Ultimately, their Special Forces unit received orders, bringing the Dragon Society lesser group to that place to execute the mission and annihilate the weapons group.

In that group were Little Tiger, Radar, Butcher, and Xue Zhi; those four didn't have these codenames yet, but their relationship was good. Lin Fei led over a dozen Special Forces into the group's base, eliminating the perimeter resistors by night, and entered the central area.

"The order is to slaughter!" After Lin Fei issued the order, everyone was shocked. This outcome wasn't terrifying because they'd breached the Council's bottom line, so no one would survive, the Council would allow none.

Lin Fei led his team to rush into the weapons group, eliminated everyone, but lost three comrades and injured four. All of them, including Lin Fei, were lightly wounded, with bullets inside but persisted to the end.

Yet as they anticipated victory's fruits, a gunshot suddenly rang from the reed marshes. Little Tiger kicked Lin Fei aside, took a bullet to the chest, smiled at Lin Fei, and then died.

Lin Fei went mad. At that moment, it was like a bolt from the blue struck his head; he frantically rushed into the marshes, catching no one.

Afterward, the Council gave Lin Fei a man as an explanation, because Lin Fei demanded a thorough investigation; they had confirmed there couldn't be any remaining enemies.

Lin Fei talked with that man for a long time, a very calm conversation. Lin Fei asked some bizarre questions, never asking why the man shot him. Ultimately, Lin Fei handed the man back to the Council.

From that day, Lin Fei made a shocking decision for the Mo Country Council: withdrawing from the Dragon Soul lesser group, leaving the Mo Country organization, a young, promising Lieutenant, quitting his motherland, it was unprecedented and made many top officials sigh.

Along with Lin Fei, Radar and a few other brothers also left, eventually becoming leaders in Hell's Judgement.

The reason they all resigned was understanding Lin Fei's thoughts, and Lin Fei's resignation stemmed from utter disappointment in the Council.

If the Council hadn't given him an answer, perhaps he would still doubt. But the conclusion the Mo Country Council provided was a mere "cover-up," and Lin Fei's conversation with that man assured him the man had no relation to Little Tiger's death. Lin Fei even saw that the man was just a death row inmate!

A mere ruse!
