The King of Urban Mercenaries

Chapter 1025: Prosecutor

Dodge bullets!

This move can only be seen in movies; how could it happen in real life?

Everyone else was shocked too, while Lin Fei sneered and approached Brother Hai. The thugs in front immediately cleared a path, and all eyes focused on Lin Fei and Brother Hai.

Brother Hai immediately snapped out of it. He didn't believe Lin Fei really dodged the bullet—it must be that he'd missed his shot, which was why Lin Fei managed to bluff him. So he raised his rifle again and fired another shot at Lin Fei.

Bang!

This time, Brother Hai still aimed for Lin Fei's head. Lin Fei tilted his head, sneering at Brother Hai. Apparently, Lin Fei had dodged Brother Hai's attack again!

"This is impossible!" Brother Hai shouted, filled with terror.

Lin Fei continued to sneer at him, walking towards Brother Hai. Brother Hai didn't know that the rifle in his hands lacked range and speed, and because of its long barrel, when Brother Hai pointed it at him, Lin Fei had long anticipated the angle of his attack.

A straight line between two points—such a simple principle for ordinary people—and that's the principle Lin Fei was using. As long as Lin Fei calculated it a step ahead and timed it perfectly, he could dodge with a ninety percent success rate when his opponent pulled the trigger.

For Lin Fei, ninety percent had long been honed to a hundred percent. His speed plus his calculative abilities and his astonishing powers of observation make it possible for Lin Fei to completely predict where Brother Hai's next shot would land.

When aiming for the head, Lin Fei just needed to dodge; when aiming for the body, Lin Fei would swiftly evade a second earlier, creating the illusion for others.

Lin Fei used this illusion to make others think he was incredibly impressive, shocking everyone.

However, he was indeed impressive because even knowing the principle, if one's reaction capability and physique weren't up to par, they'd still end up getting shot.

Brother Hai was utterly astounded at this moment; he looked at Lin Fei closing in step by step, then gritted his teeth and gave it his all, shooting at Lin Fei's chest!

But it was too late; by the time Brother Hai prepared to shoot, Lin Fei was already in front of him, holding the gun barrel, flicking it upwards.

Bang!

The gunshot rang out, but Brother Hai's gun barrel was pointed upwards, firing a blank into the sky.

Lin Fei snatched the rifle, grabbed Brother Hai's neck with his other hand, lifted him up, then sneered, "I wonder if you anticipated today's result."

"Let go of me!"

"Facing death and still arrogant; it seems you truly don't know the meaning of death," Lin Fei laughed.

Suddenly, a dagger appeared in Brother Hai's hand, thrusting toward Lin Fei's eyes. This move was unexpected for Lin Fei, but still within his control. He blocked it with the rifle barrel, causing the dagger to veer off, discarded the rifle, and grabbed Brother Hai's arm.

Brother Hai immediately curled his body, kicking both feet towards Lin Fei's chest.

However, Lin Fei remained unfazed, his palm gripping tightly onto the hand holding the dagger, the blade's tip moving toward Brother Hai's chest.

Brother Hai desperately kicked at Lin Fei's chest, but Lin Fei stood as steady as a rock, seemingly unfazed, unmoving!

The Butcher and others sneered; Brother Hai didn't know Lin Fei's physical strength was beyond ordinary. Having been through battlefields, even iron rods could barely harm his muscles.

Seeing the dagger just ten centimeters away from his body, inching closer, Brother Hai was overwhelmed with terror. His previous fierce resistance now turned into begging cries for mercy.

No one isn't afraid of death; only those who pretend not to fear death continue pretending until the moment they die, leading others to believe they weren't afraid. When they truly fear, they are already dead.

For those who aren't as good at pretending like Brother Hai, Lin Fei gradually wore down his tough exterior, peeled back his inner self bit by bit, revealing his vulnerabilities. Finally, Brother Hai gave in.

"Boss, I was wrong! I was wrong! I truly realize my mistake; please don't kill me, don't kill me! I can give you whatever you want, really!" Brother Hai pleaded in terror.

"Alright then, I want your life. Give it to me," Lin Fei said, slowly pushing the dagger forward, piercing Brother Hai's body. Brother Hai felt a sharp pain, and the feeling of the dagger slowly sinking into his flesh nearly drove him to collapse.

"Stop!"

Suddenly, an officer stepped out of a black sedan. Seeing Brother Hai about to be killed, he immediately shouted.

Lin Fei eased up his grip, tossing Brother Hai aside, who eventually crashed to the ground, spitting blood, though Brother Hai was still nervous, feeling extremely fortunate to be alive.

"Who are you to dare kill someone in broad daylight?" the officer reprimanded Lin Fei.

Lin Fei looked at this officer; he seemed familiar, yet Lin Fei couldn't recall where he'd seen him.

"What's your name?" Lin Fei asked in return.

The officer paused, frowned, and retorted coldly, "I'm asking you, not you asking me!" The five or six guards behind him, armed with handguns, aimed at Lin Fei. They wouldn't hesitate to shoot should Lin Fei make any rash move.

Lin Fei chuckled and said, "My name is Lin Fei."

"Lin Fei?"

The officer frowned, feeling as if the name was familiar. Suddenly, a flash of insight struck his mind, and an image of a man in a military uniform appeared in his memory.

And the memory overlapped with the ordinary-dressed person before him. Finally, he changed his expression with a start, exclaiming, "You are Major General Lin Fei?!"

A voice immediately shattered the silence, leaving everyone astonished, followed by a flurry of discussions.

"Tell me your name; why do you seem so familiar to me?" Lin Fei asked, puzzled.

The officer quickly signaled for the surrounding guards to lower their guns, then approached Lin Fei and said, "Instructor Lin, have you forgotten me? I'm your student, Wang Hu!"

Wang Hu?

After thinking it over, Lin Fei recalled the youth with a frail build. Only he was named Wang Hu, but the demeanor and eyes of the person in front did indeed resemble Wang Hu. He said, "You're Wang Hu? How did you get so fat; is it because of bribery and corruption?"

This statement shocked everyone, to accuse the officer of bribery and corruption openly—how bold must one be!

However, contrary to everyone's expectation, Wang Hu wasn't angry; he laughed and said, "Instructor Lin, you don't know that I'm now placed in the inspection team. I'm now a prosecutor, so as you know, many people just throw in some favors, and just like that, I gained weight."

"Geez, that's quite the life," Lin Fei laughed, having observed Wang Hu's demeanor seriously just now. Even after he said that, Wang Hu remained respectful, indicating he hadn't changed at heart!
