I Am Your Natural Enemy

Chapter 145: Noodle Soup for the Head Eyes (5k)_3

Right, right, I think so too. Okay, then I'll wait for you.

Hurry up, they're about to serve the food."

Gauss hung up the phone and waited here, but he couldn't sense any unusual aura anymore.

And at the other side of the central platform, at a table near the edge, a young girl gazed at the bride and groom and sighed with a hint of regret.

"What a pity..."

The boss had told her to be careful—these days were actually dangerous. The thing she loved most was right in front of her, yet she couldn't just reach out for it.

"You'll be the most beautiful bride yourself one day." The man beside her saw her disappointed look and couldn't help but say a word.

"Brother, you've got your own bride too, right?"

"Yeah, I'm already married."

No one expected that instead of being disappointed, the girl gave a smile, her face filled with anticipation.

"Then you must really adore your wife, right, brother?"

"That's right, I give her my whole paycheck."

The girl's smile became even brighter, the spark in her eyes shining more intensely.

The girl took the man's hand.

"Come on..."

The man hesitated, but he still let the girl's cold hand lead him away.

Whenever the man talked about how much he loved his wife, the girl would get excited and gradually loosen up.

A struggle began to flicker in the man's eyes. By the time they got to a room upstairs in the hotel, the greed and struggle in his eyes were tugging fiercely against each other.

The girl pushed the man onto the bed, got on top of him, cradled his face in her hands, stared into his eyes, her face beaming ecstatically, shivering all over with excitement. She whispered eagerly,

"Wow, brother, I really love that look in your eyes—this struggle, this greed, I just love it so much. Give it to me, won't you? Please?"

Her tender, electrifying voice drifted into his ear. The man nodded, and his hands began to rest on the girl's waist.

The next moment, the girl gently lowered her lips, softly kissing the corner of his eye.

The man's expression froze instantly. His consciousness seemed to be suspended; the greed in his eyes was the rice, the desire was the side dish, and the struggle, well, that was the perfect seasoning for the feast.

The girl sipped lightly, as if slurping jelly—lifting her chin, swallowing it all down.

The light vanished from the man's eyes bit by bit.

The girl lifted her head, her face morphing into a smoky-grey bird's head, craning her neck to swallow down what she had drawn into her mouth.

She then lowered her head, turning back into the bright-eyed, white-toothed girl once more.

With a satisfied sigh, she rubbed her own stomach.

"Even though it's not as tasty as those two downstairs, at least I'm full. Boss is right—I've got to be more careful, can't draw too much attention."

She got up and opened the door, her whole being coming alive with vibrance, then stepped out and left.

Inside the room, the man lying on the bed was breathing evenly, as if asleep. But his eyes, wide open, had lost all light—dull and blank as misty gray.

Meanwhile, in the first-floor banquet hall, Wen Yan arrived and looked around the room, trying to focus on everyone there, but still didn't spot anything unusual.

He even summoned his own Yang Energy, walking a circle around the hall; within the range covered by his Yang Energy, there wasn't the slightest sign of anything evil.

If there were any trace of Death Qi or Yin Qi, his Yang Energy would have definitely detected it.

He made a round and returned to Gauss's side.

"Didn't sense anything wrong."

"Maybe whatever it was, it already left. Or maybe it was some kind of object, and someone took it away."

"Are you sure you didn't make a mistake?"

"I never make that kind of mistake," Gauss said, full of confidence.

"Alright, then I'll let them know. Even if it's an object, that's not something just anyone could hang onto for long. We better look into what it is."

Across the street from the hotel, the girl looked back toward the building, her pretty face tinged with surprise and shock.

"Such blazing, pure Yang Energy—did they find me? No way, right? In this shape, there's just no way anyone could notice me..."

The girl was deeply alarmed. With a bit of sensing, she realized the outbreak of Yang Energy wasn't because she'd fed, but because someone had detected her the moment she entered the ceremony hall.

Right now, a being with pure, blazing Yang Energy was in that hall, conducting a full-blown sweep with Yang Energy.

The girl patted her chest softly—thank goodness she'd held back and hadn't made a move on the bride and groom. Otherwise, she definitely would've been caught red-handed.

She turned into an alleyway, and after slipping into a pitch-black side-street, her figure shimmered into a smoky-black bird, flying off into the night.

Back on the other side, seeing nothing, Wen Yan reported in to the Scorching Sun Department, telling them to look into it.

Then he tagged along with Gauss for a free banquet—rare chance for Gauss to pay, so Wen Yan took advantage.

This meal even had pork knuckle, and Wen Yan really enjoyed it—he hadn't tasted this kind of pork knuckle in years.

Apparently, the bride was actually from Guanzhong County, so Wen Yan felt bad about freeloading and gave a cash gift too.

After the meal, as they stepped outside, they saw an ambulance stopped at the door.

Moments later, several medics rolled out a makeshift gurney, pushing it along with a guy whose whole head was covered in blood and loaded him into the ambulance.

"That's the smell! That deathly aura—I told you I couldn't make this kind of mistake; there really was something!" Gauss suddenly said.

Wen Yan's brow furrowed and he immediately stepped closer to take a look. The person on the gurney was unconscious, and seemed to have cracked his head open.

He flashed his badge, looking serious, and questioned the hotel staff. The staff hadn't really looked at the badge, but it wasn't a secret so they just answered casually.

"That guest was yelling and shouting in the hallway, saying he couldn't see anything anymore. Then he opened the fire exit door himself, tumbled down the stairs, and passed out on the spot."
