Urban's Fury: The War Dragon God

Chapter 1182: Divide and Encircle

"Take action."

With the lights suddenly blazing, the three groups rushing into a certain floor hadn't yet come to their senses when they were caught off guard by the Dragon Guards lying in ambush.

In an instant, dozens of members from the three families were taken down.

But this commotion also snapped the panicked three groups back to reality. The people from the Xu, Yang, and Wei families weren't some street thugs or hooligans.

Even if they weren't top-notch private bodyguards, they were still high-level enforcers trained by each family's security company.

Although they suffered a setback at first contact, the private guards mixed in with the crowd quickly took control of the situation.

"Everyone, don't panic. We've got plenty of people, let's just go for it."

Someone stepped forward, and the others regained their composure, realizing they were surrounded by their own people, fearing nothing.

The originally chaotic hearts suddenly calmed down, and looking at Li Feng's men charging in, they were suddenly filled with anger.

"Take them down."

Instantly, the two groups clashed together.

Xu Youwen was forced to the twenty-first floor, and upon entering the floor, Xu Lei's walkie-talkie broadcasted various chaotic sounds.

On some floors, fights had broken out with Li Feng's men, while other floors remained calm.

"Everyone, shut up. Report intel one by one, starting from the bottom floor." Xu Youwen's cold, sharp command quieted down the walkie-talkie.

"Xu Young Master, I'm at the first-floor lobby. We have lots of brothers here, all in the lobby and some outside the building. The main door's security system has locked it, so we can't enter or exit. I've sent people to try and open the iron gate."

"Xu Young Master, I'm on the sixth floor. We're searching this floor; currently, no one is here, reporting complete."

"We're on the eleventh floor and have encountered enemy attacks."

"What is your situation?"

"It's a chaotic fight right now. The enemy took advantage of our panic and launched a direct assault."

After the eleventh floor reported, Xu Youwen felt somewhat relieved, not too bad.

Even if the enemy had plans and we didn't, we still had the advantage in numbers and weren't lacking in quality either.

"Which other floors have engaged in fights? Report to me first."

One by one, more reports came in.

"Second Young Master, we've checked our floor, and it's clear."

"Uncle Lei, bring me a pen and paper," Xu Youwen told Xu Lei. Xu Lei nodded, and someone was sent to fetch them, as there was no shortage of paper and pen in an office.

"Continue reporting."

Xu Youwen began consolidating the current information, compiling the data floor by floor, while Xu Lei watched from the side.

"Second Young Master, what are you doing?"

Xu Youwen tossed the pen aside, looking at what was on the paper, gave a cold sneer: "Li Feng set us up to play 'closing the doors to beat the dog.'"

"He let us advance rapidly, and with the power cut off, to reach his thirty-eighth floor, we could only use the stairs, but the fire exits can only accommodate limited people. Even though we have many people, we're stretched out by the stairs."

"Many are on the staircase between floors thirty-eight, then the enemy triggered the fire system, sealing the building, pouring gasoline upstairs to incite panic."

"Our people had to head to the nearest floors, but they weren't without calculation, look at the floor distribution."

"Some floors have one door open while others have both up and down floors doors open, do you see the pattern?"

"Hmm?"

Xu Lei frowned: "The enemy uses this method to adjust our numbers."

"Exactly, with wide gaps between floors, everyone nearby gathers on the same floor, naturally increasing numbers, but adjacent floors with more choices won't cluster in one place."

"So, there are relatively fewer people on these single floors. The enemy uses this method to split us up; although we got some inside the building, the enemy uses various methods to neutralize our numerical advantage directly."

Xu Youwen explained.

"The enemy is quite clever, knowing they're outnumbered, so they use this method against us, though it seems they've also made a mistake."

Xu Lei checked the distribution map: "Even if they split us like this, we still outnumber them, and we're not stone statues, can't we provide support?"

Xu Youwen also realized, abruptly raising his head: "Someone, check the fire exit doors, see if they can still open."

"Yes."

Following Xu Youwen's order, someone immediately pushed open the fire exit door but found it wouldn't budge no matter how much they pushed or banged.

The fire exit doors are different from regular doors; they're made of steel, hard to break down.

"It's sealed from the inside."

"Sealed? How is that possible?"

Xu Youwen's expression turned grim: "Nothing is impossible. What if the enemy slipped among our people?"

"The enemy infiltrated?"

Xu Lei's face was somber, but on reflection, it wasn't impossible; the building interior had been pitch black, and their people swarmed in, unable to distinguish friend from foe.

No one had thought of this at the time.

Now thinking about it, someone shouted that gasoline had been spilled on the stairs, but they never actually smelled gasoline or saw it flowing down.

Yet for someone to shout, their panicked hearts naturally assumed the enemy intended to start a fire because they'd activated the fire system earlier.

This psychological suggestion ensured no one doubted a fire might start; better safe than sorry.

In such mass panic, everyone instinctively ran to the nearest floors, afraid of being too slow, that they'd be turned to roast meat if a fire started.

At this point, no one paid attention to anyone left behind in the dark. If any enemies had blocked the fire exit doors from inside, their people would be split across different floors.

And unable to assist each other in the short term, the fire exits were unusable, and the elevator was no option.

"Li Feng is really cunning, living up to his name as Huacheng's Hidden Dragon."

Xu Lei couldn't help but admire Li Feng's skill; a simple trick resolved the three families' siege.

Xu Youwen huffed; despite high expectations of Li Feng, he still underestimated him.

"It's alright; although Li Feng's calculative, his forces are too few, and he's quite arrogant, splitting them into five groups."

"I can't fathom where his confidence comes from, thinking his men can defeat equal numbers from our three families, especially when we still outnumber them."
