Don't Mess with That Dragon

Chapter 323: Gate of Truth

"The Gate of Truth, the highest achievement constructed by the powerhouses of the Arcane Council to exhaust all truths in the world. I have heard that the gate contains all the truths of the universe, surpassing all divine artifacts as a Chaos Artifact."

"Back in those days, the Arcane Mages spread fear across the multiverse, collecting resources from countless planes and dispatching pure-blooded Beastmen to cross the world's boundaries to clear those planes of rebellious natives, relying on the Gate of Truth."

"That gate was the core object used by the Arcane Mages to dominate the multiverse."

"However, during the Twilight of the Gods, the Gate of Truth was shattered in the final battle, and the pure-blooded Beastmen acquired some of its fragments. It's estimated that after all these years, they have researched something out of it and are using it to traverse planes."

The Fairy Mother Tree is not very clear about the actual situation.

Even with inherited memories, it is not omniscient. In the previous era of the Arcane Mages, its inherited memories were just another among numerous minor entities in the background.

Only the publicly known and widely proclaimed matters could the Mother Tree know a little about from its memories.

The truly important secrets were always beyond its grasp.

"So you're saying, the Beastman Royal Court at the forest core gained the ability to traverse planes using fragments of the Gate of Truth from back then?"

The highest creation of the Arcane Mage Era... If I can learn these secrets from the Fairy Mother Tree, then what about other forces? Do those legendary or even epic existences also know the same secrets?

A cloud of doubt loomed over the heart.

If in this grand battle, those legendary beings behind it all know of the Gate of Truth, Austin doesn't believe he can stand out to reap the greatest reward.

To contend with legendary epics, with his current half-legendary strength, he is still far from enough.

"Your Highness need not worry too much, even if they can traverse planes, the Beastman Royal Court only holds part of the fragments. Even if they can barely use them, a large cost is likely required. Otherwise, in this dangerous situation, why do the pure-bloods not directly use the remaining power of the Gate of Truth to cross into another world to hide and live? It must be the limitation of the cost."

Seeing Austin frown, the Fairy Mother Tree could not help but explain.

"Moreover, besides the supreme creation of the Arcane Mages, the Gate of Truth, there's also the Plane Teleportation Array. This array is an improved version of the Otherworld Birth Array, mastered by demons, and, by spending a great cost, also holds certain world-crossing capabilities. It may not necessarily be the power of the Gate of Truth."

This explains why the competition might not be too fierce.

After all, if it were the complete Gate of Truth from back then, it would be a Chaos Artifact above all divine artifacts, naturally attracting covetous eyes from countless beings.

But now, what the Beastman Royal Court holds is only a fraction, greatly diminished in capability. Moreover, there is an alternative in the Plane Teleportation Array, making legendary beings capable of devising their own methods.

The pressure suddenly eased a lot.

However, the actions of the Beastman Royal Court still drew countless attention.

After all, no matter how incomplete, it remained a supreme creation of the Arcane Mage Council from back then.

Thinking this over, Austin's thoughts became more active.

Perhaps in the coming years, he could elevate his cultivation level to legendary, and then partake in the war to divide the Beastman Royal Court.

Suddenly, Austin had a thought, pondering a question.

"A few years ago, the Beastman Royal Court sent an army to search for the elf race, at a time when the pure-blooded were at a crisis. Could it be that the presence of the elf race could help them resolve their crisis? Do you know why they sent for the search?"

"Perhaps, it was for little me."

The Fairy Mother Tree thought for a while, saying uncertainly.

"After the kingdom was destroyed and fled from the core area, all the wealth was left there, leaving us remnants hiding nearby. It seems I am the only one who could attract the pure-bloods' attention."

"Oh, why is that?"

"It should still relate to the Gate of Truth. Though I'm unclear about the detailed whereabouts of the fragments after its shattering, the starlight scattering across the starry sky is somewhat recorded in the inherited memories. Coupled with the innate talents of the Mother Tree, we might find some fragments of the Gate of Truth scattered back then, to repair the fragments held by the pure-bloods."

With earlier conjectures in mind, the line of thinking became smoother.

"Perhaps, those pure-bloods really entertained the idea of fleeing to the Otherworld, but due to the limitations of the shattered Gate of Truth they possess, they sought out me hoping to find enough fragments to repair it and escape this world."

The Fairy Mother Tree gazed at Austin, carefully speaking:

"Actually, Your Highness, I originally let Eve take root and stay nearby because the inherited memory hinted that a relatively large fragment of the shattered Gate of Truth had fallen here. It was hoped to draw upon the power of the forest land to find it, to help the Elf Kingdom rise again. But unfortunately..."

The Fairy Mother Tree did not continue, clearly having failed in its plan.

Perhaps due to the passage of time, positions also shifted, or some other reasons. In the end, it couldn't find that fragment of the Gate of Truth.

Then, one dragon and one tree continued to converse for a while.

But the following dialogue no longer held much value.

Afterward, Austin took his leave.

This trip proved to be very fruitful.

The Arcane Era, Twilight of the Gods, Beastman Empire, Elf, Pure-blooded Beastmen, Half-Beastman, and the Gate of Truth.

All these outlined the vast historical landscape of the Prime Material Plane.

The conversation revealed so much information, to unravel the current situation in Kawa Great Forest from such complex relationships, Austin needed to return to the tribe for a thorough analysis.

And then.

The Dragon Nest Tribe entered a phase of low-profile development, quietly cultivating agriculture while establishing a third base. The Dragon Nest Beastmen army swept through nearby wild Beastman Tribes, incorporating many Beastman captives into its system, enhancing its strength.

The tribe developed day by day, and its strength was growing.

As for Austin, ever since conversing with the Fairy Mother Tree, he has primarily kept a low profile.

Constantly watching the war situation within Kawa Great Forest while striving to enhance his own power to the fullest extent.

Time passed quietly over the next half a year.
