Don't Mess with That Dragon

Chapter 43: Fierce Battle (First Update)

Albuda naturally has his reasons for pride.

The Frost Giants, although not blessed with the Legendary Bloodline of the Dragon Race, are still considered one of the top Extraordinary Bloodlines.

Especially in the growth of young Frost Giants, it is filled with coldness and cruelty.

From the moment they are born, after their first feeding, Frost Giant infants are thrown outside to face the natural baptism of the glacial winds.

Their parents remain indifferent to the cries of the babies.

Only those who survive until the next day qualify to live within the tribe.

This cruel selection among the Frost Giant tribe, even though they have a natural high resistance to ice and snow, still results in a high mortality rate among newborn Frost Giant infants under such brutal natural selection, with only one out of five surviving.

Such a harsh selection process is due to both tradition and the scarcity of food on the Glacial Plateau, forcing the Frost Giants to act this way.

Through this fierce survival of the fittest, the surviving Frost Giant infants are the most gifted and will grow to become the strongest warriors.

However, passing the first hurdle of birth does not guarantee a stable life going forward.

The growth of the Frost Giants is filled with bloodshed and battles, from childhood to maturity.

In childhood, they learn combat techniques under the supervision of their parents, sparring with peers of the same age.

In their youth, they must venture into the depths of the ice fields alone.

They must battle against nature, hunting a powerful Magic Beast as their coming of age ceremony.

Having endured such cruel experiences, countless strong individuals and numerous legends emerge within the Frost Giant tribe.

Though not like the Dragon Race, who become legendary upon reaching adulthood,

The battle prowess of the battle-hardened Frost Giants is terrifying!

How could the Dragon Race, who rely on their bloodline to automatically ascend to legendary status without much fierce combat, compete with them?

Many years ago, the Glacial Plateau spanning thousands of miles to the north was originally a gathering place for a group of White Dragons.

But now, the Frost Giants have become the rulers of these lands.

It was the King of Frost Giants, once living in the barren icy corners, who led the tribe to seize survival space on the highland glaciers, pushing the scattered White Dragons into retreat.

Some newly born White Dragon hatchlings were captured and tamed, becoming pets like dogs.

The Dragon Race is proud.

Even among their kin, they do not compromise on this pride.

This pride makes them solitary creatures, only coming together for mating and nurturing offspring, or with the establishment of a family system by an Ancient Dragon—otherwise, herds of Giant Dragon Species are unseen.

Most Dragon Race members prefer solitude.

This habit disperses their strength, making it difficult to consolidate.

In reality, if the White Dragons on the Glacial Plateau were to unite, they wouldn't be oppressed by the Frost Giants. A cohesive tribe wouldn't be driven into the corners after years of war.

But alas, such is the nature of dragons.

Even if White Dragon hatchlings are enslaved by Frost Giants, unless faced by extreme racial purists, no dragon seeks trouble from these Frost Giants unless they are kin.

Moreover, the power of the Frost Giants isn't weak.

Thus, despite the Dragon Race having one of the top-tier bloodlines in the Prime Material Plane, they remain suppressed on the Glacial Plateau, consistently retreating during conflicts and wars.

For centuries, the Frost Giants have maintained an upper hand over the White Dragons due to their numbers and formidable combat power.

Albuda's tribe has also been summoned by the King of Frost Giants to deal with White Dragons.

They hold little awe for the Dragon Race, emboldened by centuries of victories.

What is there to fear from a single Blue Dragon!

...

At this moment, outside the stronghold.

"Charge! Crush them! Seize all their food!"

The Frost Giants shouted loudly. Their footsteps created thunderous sounds, causing the earth to tremble as if mountains and seas were collapsing.

Heavy crossbow arrows shot out from the corners of the city walls, each penetrating the Frost Giant's skin, spraying blood.

These heavy crossbows, redesigned by the goblins in the manufacturing workshop and infused with enchantment techniques from the Elf Kingdom, possessed demon-breaking capabilities.

Previously, these heavy crossbows were used to aid in hunting Giant Beasts and for defense around the city's stronghold.

Though now, the raiding Frost Giants felt the power of these heavy crossbows.

"Damn it! Destroy those heavy crossbows!"

A giant roared, their voice shaking the heavens.

The Frost Giants, towering at least twenty or thirty meters high like buildings.

The penetrative force of the demon-breaking heavy crossbows is strong; unless they strike the head, such injuries aren't fatal enough for them.

But the pain is inevitable.

"Roar!!!"

A giant roared, casually uprooting a boulder several meters long from the ground, and hurled it toward the heavy crossbows on the stronghold defenses.

Bang!

A section of the simple defensive wall collapsed, and the heavy crossbow atop it was completely destroyed.

"Ura! Ura!"

The Frost Giants roared, their morale soaring.

"All officers, take note, our enemies are not those brainless Giant Beasts! Have the army hold them off; Junior Officers and Officers, unleash your full power, kill them!"

With one heavy crossbow destroyed, Gory looked grim.

The stronghold defense had prepared a total of ten heavy crossbows, and now with one destroyed, only nine remained.

The resources required for each heavy crossbow are immense.

The losses were heavy.

Thankfully, aside from one Frost Giant finding a boulder, there were no more throwable objects.

Braving the powerful penetrative force, the Frost Giants charged forward.

Like an avalanched flood, they neared the stronghold.

"Charge! For the great His Highness Austin!"

The Dragon Nest Legion charged out.

A brutal melee ensued instantly.

The Frost Giants wielded massive weapons, crushing a row of Dragon Nest soldiers into pulp with each hit.

Even though the Beastman soldiers wore Fine Steel Armor, under this terrifying power, it provided no defense, being crushed into a lump of metal along with their flesh.

The ferocious battles turned rivers into blood.

Yet the sacrifice of the melee soldiers wasn't in vain. Within the stronghold, arrows rained down on the Frost Giants like a storm.

Meanwhile, as the Frost Giants swung their weapons, drained of old strength and lacking new, a group of Beastman Officers leapt into the air. White Fighting Qi flickered with sharp light on their weapons, suspended above, flashing around the Frost Giants.
