Longevity with My Offspring

Chapter 315: Adventurers

While Shi Qingqing and Susu were busy taking over various affairs within Black Stone City, in the Kui Province territory, the towering mountains rose and fell, difficult even for birds to cross.

Amidst one of these mountains, a faint black fissure seemed to split the void into two, extending into the unknown, with purplish-red sunlight streaming in, invisible to the naked eye.

Hundreds of miles from the fissure, in another mountain, a cloud of black smoke swiftly flew in from afar, darting through the vegetation, finally landing on a high point, revealing a stern man in black attire.

This man was none other than Shen Wang's Black Lotus Avatar. He lifted his head, gazing into the distance, vaguely able to see the space fissure far away, sensing many powerful beings nearby.

He slightly frowned, "Beyond this mountain is the territory of the Rakshasa Race. Venturing over hastily would surely attract attention. I need to find an opportune moment."

Avoiding travel through the void, he proceeded along the ground, cautiously investigating the nearby situation.

Three days later, Black Lotus, disguising himself as Black Scythe, infiltrated a city of the Rakshasa Race. Here, there were many hideous humanoid monsters, as well as extremely beautiful women, engaging in many intimate acts, characteristic of the Rakshasa Race.

Although the Rakshasa Race dominated this area, there were also many other species, making Shen Wang's appearance not particularly unusual. Hence, upon entering the Rakshasa Race's territory, he did not encounter any trouble.

He was presently seated in a restaurant, savoring the local food and wine. The hall was bustling, with over a hundred beings eating, drinking, and chatting.

Opposite him, a burly man with a human-like appearance raised his cup, "Brother Black Scythe, let's have a toast."

The two drank a cup of the pitch-black wine, fermented from a fruit local to the Rakshasa Race, with a very stimulating taste.

"Are you also interested in the Otherworld Space?"

The burly man said, "I heard that the beings from the Otherworld are much weaker than those here. We cultivators are considered high-level there, which offers a considerable advantage. However, there are many natives there, making it quite inconvenient for the beings from this world, and it's said many who went before gained nothing."

Shen Wang's heart calmed slightly, nodding, "Brother Lei, new places always come with opportunities. By taking risks, there's hope for further advancement."

This man was named Lei Zhi, a Late-Stage Golden Core Cultivator, regarded as a high-rank demon in this world, hailing from a mercenary group.

In his world, this level of strength would be respectfully called a True Person, qualifying for a high position in a major sect. But here, it was relatively ordinary, and he held some status as a steward in the mercenary group, currently recruiting members for the corps.

"Haha, I think the same, Black Scythe is not a deceitful person. I find you quite reliable. I'll introduce you to the captain, so you can join our mercenary corps in exploring the Otherworld."

Lei Zhi laughed.

"Thanks, Brother Lei, I've just arrived in this city, and I don't know much about the situation in the Otherworld Space, or how difficult it is to enter."

Shen Wang responded accordingly, "I suppose this place is controlled by the Rakshasa Race. It might not be easy for an outsider like me to get in."

"Brother Black Scythe, you're overthinking. The Otherworld Space is quite low-level, not attracting attention from the Rakshasa Race's upper ranks. Currently, a Demon Saint from this district oversees it. It's said even he hasn't entered, letting the clansmen recruit mercenaries to explore. Our Sathing Mercenary Corps is among those invited."

"So it's not hard to get in, just that there could be life-threatening danger."

Shen Wang was secretly pleased. It seemed the Rakshasa Race planned to send cannon fodder to scout the route, providing him the opportunity he needed.

"Don't worry, Brother Black Scythe, our mercenary corps has quite a bit of experience. As long as you follow orders, it won't be too dangerous at this stage."

Lei Zhi assured.

"Alright, I'll take the plunge, and I hope for Brother Lei's recommendation."

Shen Wang said earnestly.

"Follow me."

Lei Zhi rose and led Shen Wang to a large courtyard to settle down. Many demons were already gathered here, most of them middle-rank demons equivalent to the Foundation Establishment Stage, with less than ten percent being high-rank demons, all carrying weapons.

When they appeared, numerous gazes fell upon them, noting Shen Wang's unfamiliar face, and some demons showed expressions filled with meaning.

"Steward Lei, another brother looking for adventure?"

A strong man in green armor, with a horn on his head and black thunder patterns on his chest, approached them in the courtyard.

"Yes, this brother is called Black Scythe, quite reliable." Lei Zhi introduced, and after getting acquainted, left Shen Wang in the care of this horned demon named Green.

Lei Zhi was responsible for recruitment, while Green was tasked with leading Shen Wang and other newcomers, who were referred to as adventurers, temporarily joining the mercenary corps.

Shen Wang subsequently acquainted himself with the rules of the mercenary corps, particularly the distribution of spoils. Regardless of circumstances, the mercenary corps would take thirty percent of his earnings in the Otherworld Space and provide some necessary information and protection. The condition was that he had to comply with the mercenary corps' arrangements.

He was inherently uninterested in these matters, so he naturally did not object. When the recruitment numbers were sufficient, they set off toward the space fissure location.

Upon arrival, Shen Wang realized they were just a part of the group. There were over a dozen mercenary corps present, and his quick glance counted over a thousand newly recruited demons.

"Every three to five days, so many demons cross over. The pressure on the home side seems significant."

Shen Wang observed the hundreds of demons, feeling slightly apprehensive.

In the sky, an ugly Rakshasa flew by, arms crossed, looking down at the gathered demons, "Let me make it clear, those who disobey orders will be executed without mercy."

As the words fell, a surge of evil qi erupted, instantly silencing the scene.

"Take them across. The Demon Venerable of our race is waiting on the other side."

The speaking Rakshasa gestured, and waves appeared before the space fissure, activating the array set nearby, allowing the demons to stream in.

"The space fissure is unstable, and the Otherworld exerts some suppression on us. Remember, unless absolutely necessary, do not use powers in the space passage."

Leading them, Green reminded the group, taking the lead into the space fissure, as waves of danger approached them.

The Rakshasa Race's leader watched the new adventurers enter, muttering, "This time the number is a bit low. Find more next time, or the Fifth Miss on the other side will reprimand me."

"General Lian, there have not been many results on the other side. More and more people are becoming aware of the situation, and many are unwilling to take the risk."

Lei Zhi, also present, attempted to explain.

The Rakshasa with icy eyes responded, "If you can't find them, then you all go over."

In the space fissure, the light was distorted and filled with cracks. As soon as they entered, an unfortunate soul brushed against the edge of a fissure, and an arm was sliced into two, blood gushing amid heartrending screams.

"Useless! I said to stay away from the space fissures!"

The leader from another mercenary corps cursed incessantly, holding a silver token that emitted a pure white radiance, revealing some barely visible space fissures.

Shen Wang walked among the demons, observing the unstable passage, speculating that it was not because the Rakshasa Race's upper echelons scorned it, but rather that this passage did not yet allow excessively powerful beings to cross.

He carefully followed the main group, soon engulfed in darkness, only the token emitting light, as the space grew increasingly unstable, and demons intermittently found themselves dismembered by the forces within the space fissures.
