"Ash Phantom: The Legend Reborn"

Chapter 110: Facing Impossible Enemy

"Sunny… was Subaku. Subaku Vincentia."

The name cracked through the chamber like thunder. Zackey froze, every nerve in his body on fire.

"Yes… the very one who stood in the Grand Era. The one who challenged the legend himself—Ryuki. The one behind the gates of the Third World… the one who summoned the beasts no mortal could even dream of. Subaku Vincentia, the tamer of Yuzen—one of the greatest of the Third World beasts."

Baital leaned forward, the skulls on his throne rattling, his monstrous face splitting into a twisted grin.

"Villain for some. Hero for others. The world never agreed on what he was. What drove him? Why did he do what he did? No one ever knew. That mystery still festers, even in the deepest corners of time."

The chamber shook with his laughter, then his tone shifted, low and venomous.

"And in that age, when I walked in my true form… as the King of Hell himself… I faced him."Baital's eyes narrowed, blood dripping from his jaw. "And I lost." By him."

Zackey's mouth fell open. His whole body shivered, knees scraping against the stone as if his flesh could not bear the weight of what he had just heard.

"W-what…?" His voice cracked like a dry bone. His eyes went wide, bloodshot, trembling in disbelief.

Subaku. Vincentia. His lord's greatest enemy. And now… he was living as the boy called Sunny.

Baital's voice rumbled through the chamber again, low and heavy, shaking the very stones beneath them.

"There was no one in the Grand Era… no one who could form a man-beast with a Third World beast. None… except Subaku."

His glowing eyes pierced the shadows, burning with ancient wrath.

"He alone could act with Yuzen. He alone could pull it off. And when he did… he formed a man-beast with Yuzen and changed the course of history forever."

Baital's voice grew darker, colder, like the void itself had taken shape.

"When I finally get the Sarva Core from Yuzen… I will manifest my true self. My full power, my actual form… and then, I will return to Hell. I will reclaim my throne. I will become King again… the one they should have feared all along."

He leaned back slightly, the throne groaning under his weight. Blood dripped from the jagged spikes, echoing like a heartbeat in the dark. The aura of his words pressed down on Zackey's shoulders, making him tremble uncontrollably.

Zackey's mind spun. Subaku… Sunny… Yuzen… the pieces were all coming together. His trembling hands clenched into fists. A sick smile twisted across his pale face, madness and anticipation mingling.

"Yes… my lord," he whispered. "I will bring him. I will bring Sunny… and I will see your power realized."

Baital's laughter rose, deep and terrifying, vibrating through the walls like rolling thunder.

"Good… very good, Zackey. You will not fail again."

Zackey's pale hands trembled as he dared to speak again, voice shaky yet laced with curiosity and disbelief.

"One more question… my lord. How… how can someone from Earth defeat the King of Hell? Even if he has a Third World beast… this… this cannot digest me. You… you are the Fifth Hell King…"

Baital's lips curled into a slow, dark smile, his eyes glinting like molten fire.

"That… that is what I thought too, Zackey," he said, voice low, dripping with ancient weight. "Listen closely. I came from Hell, carrying a goal within me—the goal to attain the greatest power, the power written in the texts of Hell itself. But the race to reach it… it was never only humans. Demons, creatures, beings beyond imagination… all were fighting for it."

He paused, letting the silence stretch, letting the dread of his words sink in. Then his voice hardened, tinged with a growl.

"And in the middle of it… when I was defeated by a man… Subaku," he said, his lips curling back. "He laughed. Hahaha… that laughter… it made the path to that power even more difficult. I had defeated Yuzen. I almost killed him. But Subaku… he merged with Yuzen. And that… that is where I lost."

Baital leaned forward, the shadows of his demonic form stretching across Zackey like living tendrils. "I underestimated him. A human… from Earth… dared to change the balance of Hell itself."

Zackey's heart pounded, his mind reeling. The sheer audacity of Subaku… the thought of a human bending a Third World beast… it was impossible, yet undeniable.

"Yes… my lord," he whispered, trembling. "I understand now. That boy… Sunny… he is dangerous."

ackey's voice trembled, but his words came sharp, almost desperate.

"Then… who sealed Yuzen beneath Yuzen City? Who dares to challenge Subaku? How… how was Yuzen's beast sealed?"

Baital paused, the shadows of his massive form deepening across the chamber. He thought for a moment, letting silence stretch like a blade. Then his words fell, heavy and deliberate.

"There was… an unknown man," he said, voice low, reverberating like a subterranean quake. "A man who fought Subaku and sealed Yuzen beneath this land. When Subaku killed me, I lost the sight to see… but even in the darkness, I could sense him. Someone… who sealed this foolish land of Winland with his mage ability."

His massive hands tightened into claws, shadows crawling along the floor like living things.

"That man… he was no beast tamer. He simply… came laughing into Winland. And as he came, he started his rampage. He just… unleashed destruction like no mortal should dare. At that moment, my view of the mortal world… changed forever."

Baital's eyes glowed brighter, the blood dripping from his throne seeming to pulse with his words. "From that day, I knew… mortals are more unpredictable than I ever imagined. Even the greatest of Hell's power cannot anticipate their chaos."

Zackey's chest heaved. His mind spun with the impossible revelation. This mortal… stronger than Subaku? Sealing Yuzen? And laughing while doing it?

"Yes… my lord," he whispered. "This… this changes everything."

My views on grand era becoming more then myth..
