It's not the "Beacon" bestowed by the Emerald Dream, not the "Dreamwalker" who merges with dreams, but the seemingly unrelated "Speaker of the Trees".
"Imagine the Cursed Title, concentrate your attention, and you will receive new insights." Silver Cross·Sloan's reminder echoed by his ear.
Lu Li closed his eyes, immersed in his mind, breaking free from illusory beauty.
[Speaker of the Trees]
[They witness the rise and fall of all like the seas, they stand rooted in the earth like rocks, they grace all things, they are everywhere. You like them, you care about them — so do they]
[Every tree holds affection for you]
[— They are your good friends]
After the information on Speaker of the Trees, a line of new content slowly emerged.
[*Where you tread, life cheers and revels upon your arrival, plants revive from a death-like slumber, accompanying their king as guardians of the King's Court]
Focusing on the cryptic, enigmatic information, Lu Li recounts the emerged content.
The information of the Curse Title Master is viewed as a secret for it describes the power along with its flaws. However, Silver Cross·Sloan and Mildred Hampri, who use true names, are trustworthy.
The two Masters exchanged glances, and Silver Cross·Sloan said, "I think we need to test if the word 'life' includes aberrations and if the word 'plants' includes peculiar flora."
In response to Lu Li's trust, they unveiled their powers as Masters.
The Curse Title Master power of Silver Cross·Sloan as the [Hunter] is: [Creatures, aberrations, even the world... you can glimpse the vulnerabilities of all things, except their minds]
The Curse Title Master power of Mildred Hampri with [Spider Bloodline] is: [Your bond with spiders deepens. It could be intimacy, it could be animosity. In any case, when you exhale webs, you resemble spiders more than humans]
"But don't have too many expectations, because your [Speaker of the Trees] is not a war-related Cursed Title."
Although the Curse Title Release is a potent force that can alter dynamics and allow the Master to rise, not all Cursed Titles are fit for combat.
[Speaker of the Trees] clearly belongs to support or guardianship.
The two Masters felt regretful; if the [Dreamwalker] Cursed Title Release were used, Lu Li would have nightmare-like power to combat anomalies.
Lu Li looked back, only for the shadows of the young trees to change with his turn, always fixed behind him.
"Put away the newly acquired control power," Silver Cross·Sloan said. Control power does not differentiate in magnitude by the strength of the Cursed Title, and the rate at which it consumes humanity is consistent.
He observed Lu Li, still permeating with life-like vitality.
The consumption rate of humanity by the Master is negligible compared to over 30 units of humanity.
Lu Li withdrew the Cursed Title Master, causing the fantastical spectacle of the young tree's shadow to vanish.
"I'll go into the depths to capture a few anomalies."
"No need for such trouble," Silver Cross·Sloan stopped Mildred Hampri, "Let the merchant acquire some anomalies and animals instead."
Lu Li nodded, once again calling on Merchant Anthony to purchase a few anomalies from the Earth Dwellers' Guild.
The fireplace flames were much weaker than before. Silver Cross·Sloan bent to add more firewood, suddenly letting out a surprised nasal sound.
"Hmm?"
Following the direction of Silver Cross·Sloan's gaze fixed on the floor, Lu Li and Mildred Hampri saw a plant sprout emerging from the gap in the floorboards.
This little sprout clearly wasn't growing due to humanity's aura.
Silver Cross·Sloan retrieved an axe from beside the woodpile outside the hut and returned beside the sprout, chopping the floorboards aggressively.
Lu Li frowned slightly, seeming to find the chopping sound jarring.
After chopping through one side of the floorboard, Silver Cross·Sloan and the helping Mildred Hampri lifted the plank, revealing the soil underneath.
A patch of sprouts was emerging from the ground, pressed down by the board, they lay horizontally in the soil like worms, forming a sparse green carpet like moss.
"[Plants revive from a death-like slumber]" Silver Cross·Sloan recited the information released by the power.
Mildred Hampri slowly crouched down, aiming to touch the real plants he had seen in his childhood.
To Lu Li, it seemed like an augmented aura of humanity.
At least at the rate of humanity's aura, achieving such an effect would take at least a week, not a few tens of seconds.
They didn't wither when Lu Li retracted the Master, but they would wilt again over time as they couldn't grow.
Then the two Masters began dismantling the floorboards like craftsmen. Sprouting from the ground within a meter radius of where Lu Li stood earlier was a "green carpet," which grew less abundant a bit farther, only emerging as sprouts.
Mildred Hampri carefully excavated the plants sprouting from the soil and placed them near the fireplace, to prevent them from perishing in the cold swamp.
"You can contact those Alchemists, they would pay a handsome reward for these plants."
They are extremely valuable.
Even using greenhouses and special cultivation methods can grow such plants free from aberration, but the cost is high, typically only affordable by powerful entities.
Lu Li only knew Instructor Kris, conveying the situation here to her while also informing her of becoming a Master.
The people sent by Instructor Kris arrived earlier than Merchant Anthony who came to purchase anomalies, taking away the mycelium-like soil and plants, while also helping to relaid the floorboards.
They also brought a reward from Instructor Kris — a goblet of red wine. When Lu Li briefly held it, a flying kiss from Instructor Kris came forth.
The empty floor and traces in the soil upon stepping on them signify what just occurred, along with the potted sprout left by Mildred Hampri.
Merchant Anthony took some time to bring back the anomalies. Lu Li and the two Masters sat by the fireplace.
Mildred Hampri prepared to brew coffee; the weak flames in the fireplace reminded Silver Cross·Sloan of something he was going to do earlier. He picked up the empty basket beside him, stepping on the creaking floorboard as he went out of the hut, soon returning with it filled with firewood.
The firewood thrown into the fireplace crackled, like the sound of fat popping in flames when a body is thrown onto a pyre...
"What's wrong?"
Silver Cross·Sloan keenly noticed the subtle change in Lu Li.
"For unknown reasons, I suddenly feel a sense of aversion towards you," Lu Li said calmly.
This feeling was almost undetectable, nearly buried under the ocean of reason.
"What did you encounter outside?" Mildred Hampri asked the recently returned Silver Cross·Sloan.
"Nothing, I just collected some firewood, and it's quite safe around," Silver Cross·Sloan said, deducing something and looked at Lu Li, "It should be your 'Speaker of the Trees', remember the words 'they are your good friends'? I think this is an enhanced part of the curse."
Fortunately, this faint aversion was something Lu Li could ignore — for now.
