[: 3rd POV :]
After Daniel finished consuming all his rewards, the chamber grew quiet.
The storm of light and energy that had filled the air only moments ago faded into a calm, dim glow that lingered like stardust in the air.
His breathing slowed, the tension in his body released, and for the first time since his return, Daniel allowed himself to simply… relax.
In front of him, the last icon blinked faintly within his system window.
[: System Gift Pack (???) :]
Daniel exhaled deeply.
"Guess we've reached the end, huh?"
He tapped the icon without hesitation.
The moment he did, golden motes burst from the screen like shimmering petals drifting through the room.
[: You have opened the Gift Pack :]
[: Reward: 5,000,000 Points Acquired :]
Daniel blinked once.
Then twice.
"Five… million?"
He let out a soft whistle and grinned.
"Now that's what I call a payday."
He leaned back on the couch, his lips curling into a content smile.
"At least I don't have to worry about running out of points for a while."
[: Indeed, Host :]
The system replied with a faint tone of amusement.
[: You could buy an entire planet's worth of food with that amount :]
Daniel chuckled, shaking his head.
"Nah, I'd rather save it for later. Never know when something ridiculous is gonna pop up."
He stood up, stretched his arms, and gazed through the open balcony.
The night sky of the Human Capital was breathtaking, constellations scattered across a silvery sea of stars, with faint wisps of aurora dancing far above.
The palace below was still lively from the last of the week-long celebration.
The faint echoes of laughter, music, and joy drifted upward.
It was strange… how peaceful everything finally was.
For so long, Daniel had lived through struggle, through pain, through the ceaseless rhythm of battle and survival.
But tonight, for the first time, the only thing he needed to fight was the urge to stay awake.
He smiled softly.
"I guess… it's time to sleep."
He turned toward the bed, a luxurious thing draped in white silk, far too soft for someone used to stone floors and battlefield tents.
As he lay down, his body sank into the warmth, and he released a long, content sigh.
For once, he didn't have to be a savior.
For once, he didn't have to be the one standing against the abyss.
He was just Daniel, son of Melira, heir to the throne, a man who could finally rest.
He closed his eyes for a moment but stopped midway, a small thought bubbling in his mind.
"...Hey, System."
[: Yes, Host? :]
Daniel chuckled.
"You know, I might've never said this before, but…"
He paused, then continued with genuine warmth.
"Thanks. For everything."
There was silence for a moment, a digital hum, faintly pulsing through his mind, before the system responded, softer than usual.
[: ...Host, you don't need to thank me :]
"I do, though,"
Daniel insisted gently.
"It's because of you that I got this far"
"All the times I nearly died, all the times I didn't know what the hell I was doing… you were there"
"You guided me, supported me, and honestly…"
He smiled faintly, looking up at the ceiling.
"I don't think I could've done it without you."
[: I don't think I deserved to be thanked for :]
[: Because forgive me, Host :]
The system replied, its voice tinged with something almost like emotion.
[: When you were first reincarnated into this world, I wasn't able to help as much as I should've. I couldn't support you properly when you were lost and confused :]
Daniel's lips curved in a sad smile.
"You did enough. You were the reason I had strength."
There was another brief pause, followed by a soft tone that almost sounded like a sigh.
[: You never once blamed me for my failures :]
"Why would I?"
Daniel chuckled quietly.
"You're my partner, not my servant. You've been with me since I was reincarnated"
"That counts for something, right?"
[: ...Host :]
The system said after a pause, its digital voice oddly gentle.
[: In the end, there's nothing that separates you and I :]
[: We are one. Your growth is mine, and my existence is shaped by you :]
[: No matter what happens — no matter what you become, the system will always be by your side :]
Daniel laughed quietly.
"Careful, System, you're making me tear up."
[: Same goes for me :]
That made Daniel snort.
"Pfft, really? Since when do systems cry?"
[: Don't underestimate me, Host :]
The system replied playfully.
[: I might not have tear ducts, but I can simulate emotional data that's close enough :]
Daniel chuckled again, burying his head in the pillow.
"You really are one of a kind."
[: I could say the same, Host :]
The two of them fell into a comfortable silence, a silence not born of awkwardness, but of understanding.
Outside, the night wind whispered softly, brushing against the open window.
The faint scent of blooming moonlilies drifted in.
Daniel exhaled slowly.
"Well, I guess it's time to sleep. For real this time and I kinda wonder what would happen from now on"
[: Maybe you can look forward to how you live your life from now on :]
The system said warmly.
[: There will be times where things go wrong, where the world feels heavy again :]
[: But hey, nothing can ever stop you as long as you have me :]
Daniel smiled softly, his eyes half-closed.
"That's why I said I'm glad to have you."
[: That's right, Host :]
The system replied, tone brimming with quiet pride.
[: With you and I together, there's no enemy you can't face :]
Daniel hummed thoughtfully.
"You're right. The only thing I have to worry about now…"
He yawned mid-sentence. "…is that I want to sleep."
[: Then do so, Host :]
"Yeah… yeah, I think I will."
[: Have a good rest :]
Daniel smiled lazily. "You too, System."
[: I don't sleep :]
"Then pretend," Daniel murmured drowsily.
"Pretend for me."
There was a short laugh from the system, soft, digital static laced with warmth.
[: Understood. Goodnight, Daniel :]
And then, Daniel fell asleep peacefully.
The night stretched long and tranquil.
Outside, the moonlight poured through the balcony like silver rain, blanketing the young prince in a serene glow.
Dreams came , but not of battles, nor of flames, nor of endless voids.
He dreamt of laughter, of his mother's smile, of Rika's playful grin, Manork's teasing scowl, and Caelira's quiet gaze.
He dreamt of Erina curled up asleep beside a warm hearth.
He dreamt of peace.
When dawn arrived, Daniel woke to sunlight spilling across his face. He blinked blearily and smiled, stretching with a content groan.
"Morning, System."
[: Morning, Host :]
The familiar voice replied cheerfully.
[: Sleep well? :]
"Better than I ever have."
He rubbed his eyes, grinning.
"You didn't pull any pranks while I was asleep, right?"
[: Of course not :]
The system said, perhaps a bit too innocently.
Daniel frowned suspiciously.
"...What did you do?"
[: Nothing major :]
"System."
[: Just enhanced your pillow's comfort rating by 200%. You snored less this time :]
Daniel burst out laughing.
"You actually monitor my snoring?"
[: I monitor everything, Host :]
The system said smugly.
[: Consider it part of my job :]
Daniel shook his head, still smiling.
"You're unbelievable."
[: Thank you :]
"Not a compliment."
[: Still taking it as one :]
Daniel laughed again and stood up, stretching once more before walking toward the balcony.
The city was already bustling, knights patrolling the walls, merchants opening shops, and children running through the streets shouting his name.
[: The Prince of Saviour :]
That's what they called him now.
But to him, titles didn't matter.
Not tonight. Not now.
All that mattered was that he was alive, that he had people who cared, and that for once, he wasn't alone.
"System," he said quietly, watching the rising sun.
"Let's keep walking forward from here, yeah? Not just as a host and system, but as partners."
[: Partners :]
The system repeated softly.
[: I like the sound of that :]
"Good," Daniel said, grinning faintly.
"Because you're stuck with me."
[: Likewise and it has always been that way :]
He chuckled and turned away from the view.
"Alright then, time to see what kind of chaos today brings."
[: Would you like to start by checking your new stats? :]
Daniel laughed.
"Nah. For once, I just want breakfast first."
[: …You've changed, Host :]
The system teased.
"Guess I have."
As Daniel was inside the room chattering with the system, there was a certain someone standing and waiting outside.
It was none other than Maiya.
However, currently, she was deeply conflicted.
Originally, she should have been the one, a nanny, to have taken care of Daniel.
But because of the incident, where she failed to escape safely with Daniel who was a newborn at that time, she had accumulated a lifetime guilt.
Even though Daniel who was the Prince and the rightful heir for the throne had been found, Maiya couldn't change the fact that it was her fault.
She blamed herself for what happened to Daniel, and now, she doesn't know how to face him like nothing's wrong without feeling guilty.
It was truly impossible.
