Thronebound Summoner

Chapter 94: Feast

That day was for celebration, partially at least, Fay still needed to tell the chief the new problem that might need even Elaruîn's help.

Selra the Eluwyn Mistwalker and Erian, who used the large bird, had been stationed to relay information between the Ravari and the new castle, which belongs to Fay and the Yllasei (Elf) Village.

Before partying, Fay told Erian to relay the news that would be important for Elaruîn to hear, he not only told him a deeper explanation about what happened in the savanna but also Mirage's power, which he wanted his teacher to know.

Elaruîn was the one who gave him Mirage, and he had even suggested the dragon be left to rampage; however, clear details hadn't been told to him yet.

Fay also wanted to know the state of the people who were sick, to know if he needed to bring Mira back using Mirage the next day.

Erian the Mistwalker set out immediately, knowing the problem was serious, even when he had taken the long trip at least four times already.

"Don't worry kid, I am the best for this type of work, even if Selra can reach there faster with her bird, she also needs more rests afterward to heal back up, so the return trip would weaken her severely, as for me, my creature is made for running, it even enjoys doing so for hours, remember… summoned creatures are not like normal ones, they have other rules that they follow."

With those words, Erian took some of the roasted meat and headed out at top speed.

Fay then went to join the others eating big portions to fill himself, the best and most fatty ones, while giving Mira the same.

Everyone relished the meat, some even taking three portions for themselves; no one was limited today, everyone was told to eat their fill by Fay and Horin.

They knew there would be unity in doing such things; it was just how Fay and Mira were introduced in this world.

Fay wanted to do the same for the others, even if they had belonged to an enemy kingdom once.

After the food was finished, he called up Maria and sat near the chief.

"First off, we need to talk…"

Fay explained the situation along with Horin, as for Mirage, she had long gone to sleep with Mira and the three children, so there was no need to take care of them.

As for the chief, he made a serious face.

He had planned to go back to the large open fields soon, but this set him back, especially knowing that the plague would begin again, and those who managed to escape it would probably get sick if they headed back into the savanna.

"That was one problem… now here comes the other… Horin and I found a special core… but, there is someone here that might have the aptitude for it…" Fay turned towards the girl Maria, who looked at him curiously.

Nahrin got the gist of it; he knew as much as Fay and all the summoners, if not even a little more.

He was also Elaruîn's student some years back and knew the dangers of some particularly strong cores.

"Let's see if it reacts before trying it out… I am sure you sent word to the teacher about it, right?"

Fay nodded, part of the reason he had sent Erian out hastily was also because of this.

"Yes, let's see if you are compatible with this gem, Maria… I will try to test you hold on…"

Fay took out the jewel from his pocket and began to slowly place it near the girl.

The gem showed a sudden reaction as it began to react the same way the girl did; her long black hair even floated forward as if magnetized to it.

"There is no doubt this fragment will be useful for you… But please wait for tomorrow to see if it is safe for you to have it… Some cores are simply too dangerous to handle…"

The girl looked at the gem with interest and even seemed a little upset it wouldn't be given to her, but nodded.

She wasn't going to get in danger, especially with the king and owner of a dangerous dragon, just to get a summon that might even kill her.

Maria knew that even Fay feared his own creature, it was apparent by how he treated her.

"No problem… hopefully there is good news."

The girl then went back to enjoying the feast. She nestled herself in a corner while looking at everyone else eat.

Fay tried to ignore her until it wasn't necessary to try; his attention went back not only to the food but also to the festive atmosphere that even Horin was enjoying.

She kept passing him the best meat parts even before he asked for them.

Nahrin, on the other hand, was enjoying the best drinks they had.

Harriett had discovered them stashed beneath the inn she now owned, and in just one day, she had become one of the wealthiest people in town.

She had received notes from Mirage, backed by the gold hidden in the castle's vault.

Using these, the dragon began distributing credit while encouraging everyone to trade in any gold or jewels they found within the newly claimed territory.

Many rushed to search through the rubble, sometimes even getting into fights, ones that Nahrin had to break up.

He might not have been able to walk properly, but his strength was still something everyone feared.

"I guess that's all we have for today," Fay said, leaning back on his arm as he gazed up at the sky. He still enjoyed the night view of the rich colors of the stars and tonight's moon, which glowed with a deep blue hue.

"That it is… but remember, this peace is only momentary. You need to keep training and have warriors ready to use the walls properly. You never know when the enemy might return to reclaim their castle."

Nahrin's voice was firm. He had witnessed the cruelty and greed of hums firsthand.

He knew that, if given the chance, they might even try to manipulate Fay and Mirage into becoming figureheads only to strike later with an army strong enough to bring them down.
