I was no expert on rifts, sadly. I did not have a spell to create portals, however this was not the first time I had encountered something like that. I still remembered the tentacles coming for us at the baths, back in the Empire. Demons had used similar things in the past. Maybe I should have a conversation with Lilith about portals.
However, this was not the time for such contemplations. Someone had touched Haruka. And someone was going to pay. I fuelled my aura with my rage as I rained lightning from the sky. But that was not enough. I cast a 9th tier spell: Storm's Wrath.
The spell summoned a powerful storm in a large area, it was similar to what I could do with my aura these days. It had been a while since I had used the spell and the result was most satisfying.
The spell and my aura became one as the lightning intensified. Large bolts bombarded the ground, obliterating everything. Rocks burst and monsters screamed, yet their wails were drowned by deafening thunder. Lighting illuminated the black clouds creating an eerie atmosphere. Heavy rain fell from the sky, coating the soil in a layer of electrified water. A death sentence for most monsters.
I panicked for a moment, looking at Haruka. But she seemed fine in the electrified water. She had inherited our immunity. Pleased, I looked back at the monsters, who were all dying. But I was not done yet. The rift was still there.
I pointed my finger at it. "Storm's Judgement."
There was no need to say the name of the spell but it felt right. Lightning fell from the sky and hit me, then ran alongside my body into my finger. A huge purple bolt of lightning emerged from it, flying directly at the rift. The entire area was illuminated with purple light for a moment as my spell hit its target.
A scream filled with pain managed to pierce the thunder. However it was quickly cut off as the rift disappeared. I felt a small amount of satisfaction from the result, although I was afraid I had not killed the creature on the other side.
"So much power…" Haruka stared at me in awe.
I petted her on the head. "We are going to feed you properly and one day you will unleash storms!" My anger was not entirely gone but it was calming now. Shani and Lucy had finished every monster that had not been killed by my lightning bolts. However, my spell, Storm's Wrath, was still going.
"Those monsters did not have proper blood! It's all sour and rancid!" Shani complained, looking in disgust at one of the monsters.

Lucy had a tentacle hanging from her mouth, which she slurped like a noodle. "Mhm, not the best taste. It's like they have been fermented. And they are rather chewy. Maybe if you cook them… I think the lightning helped."
"Haruka's bark was not entirely acid-proof, we need to work on that. And teach whoever was behind it a lesson." I announced.
"Why would someone dump weird demons on our heads?" Lucy wondered.
"Because they are rude!" Shani commented.
"Hm. Maybe someone wanted to see our power? I will have to consult with Lilith, she might know more about the other demon lords. But that portal reminded me of those we have seen in the Empire." I replied.
"Do you think Ashmedai is involved?" Lucy asked.
I cracked my knuckles. "Maybe. Considering his action in the mortal realm we should pay him a visit anyway. I think we could feed him to Haruka…"
The dryad's eyes widened. "I am not worthy of such a meal…"
I shook my head. "Nonsense."
"Muahahahah! Slaughter, there will be so much slaughter! We shall cleave through his forces, bathe in his blood!" Shani cackled.
"Any idea where he lives?" Lucy asked.
"Well… no." I admitted. "But I am sure Lilith does. We should go back and plan our revenge."
On our way back we met Kira and Lily, who had been rushing towards us. The storm must have been visible from quite the distance.
Kira was in her dragon form. She had turquoise scales with purple edges, just like her dragonkin shape. She had the same horns as well, only larger. Lily was flying next to her with her energy wings. They landed in front of us.
"What happened?" Lily asked.
"Someone created a rift and dumped weird demons on us." I explained.
"We are going to slaughter someone now!" Shani added, helpfully.
"A rift?" Kira asked. "That is not simple magic. You are suspecting a demon lord?"
"Yes. I will need to talk with Lilith about it but I have decided it might be time to become more active. We should start by dealing with Ashmedai." I announced.
Kira nodded. "He should only be in the second aura stage. But is he not allied with one of the ancients?"
"That ancient can become fertilizer too." I muttered.
"Amaya is in a vengeful mood. You should have seen her storm. It's still going even. I don't think any of the local wildlife in the area survived. And a large part of the plane has been redecorated. The rocks are cracked now." Lucy said.
Kira looked at the storm in the distance. "I can still feel it."
"I love it when Amaya goes full archfey." Lucy purred.
I looked at my girlfriend. She was back in her humanoid form and had a mischievous look on her face. "No kisses until you brush your teeth. I saw you slurp that tentacle."
Lucy pouted.
Lily opened her magical storage and retrieved a toothbrush, toothpaste and some mouthwash.
"Lady Lucy." She offered them to her.
Lucy grinned and started brushing her teeth.
"You have an interesting relationship." Kira commented.
I just shrugged. When Lucy was done she grabbed me and gave me a kiss that promised a lot more. It certainly distracted me from my lingering anger. However, I was still determined to make someone pay. They had messed with the wrong archfey.
