Before I could make any move I had to finish my recall spell. The ability to defend our home in case someone used our absence was crucial. Thankfully the tomes I had confiscated helped a lot. I also collected some leaves and branches from Haruka's tree to use as a focus.

It took several days but I managed to come up with a ritual. It needed the blood of the person using the recall stone but I could create one-time-use teleportation items. It also required a 9th tier spell slot to craft one of them, so it was a slow process to make them.

I created one for all of my high level servants, as well as Lucy and myself. Ok, I did not create anything for the dryads, they would not be able to leave anyway.

While I was busy our town grew. I got word from Iron Rock that they had a working train model and the first track would be completed soon. Magic really helped with construction. Meanwhile, our town now had a small lake next to it with a bunch of naiads. They managed irrigation canals for our fields and helped with the water supply for our town. Even better, their presence would help us increase the water quality for brewing. Hehehe.

Eventually my preparations were complete and it was time to plan, for war. I called a meeting with my friends, servants and allies.

"I have finished the recall stones for our people. We can now start an assault and retreat if needed. Haruka will be able to send an emergency signal through our link. While we can't talk, she can send a distress signal and we will return." I explained.

"Do you want to take everyone for this assault?" Lilith asked.

I shook my head. "We are going after Ashmedai. He is not one of the ancient ones although he might get help. I think you should remain here, Lilith."

"What about my territory?" Meluza asked. "They could come after me."

"Possible, but I do not think that is likely. You do not have any resources they want. Pazuzu has an interest in you personally, so you could just stay with Lilith, if you want to. The portal we have would be the real prize." I replied.

"You are welcome here, Meluza." Lilith offered. "You could also join Amaya's assault, if you wish."

"The main force will be Lucy and myself. We can go all out. We will offer Ashmedai's forces a chance to surrender, or flee. Those who stay will be hit with overwhelming force." I said.

"Finally! All the slaughter! I will be able to fill baths with blood, pools,... maybe a lake? Uh, can we have a blood lake?" Shani hooped around excitedly.

"I don't think we need a blood lake… Anyway, Kira, do you want to join us or stay here? It is not your fight." I asked.

"I think I will join you. I have a lot to learn, the combat might be insightful." Kira replied.

"And you can snack on demons." Lucy added.

"I would like to join as well, my lady." Lily said. "Iris and Minerva have our defenses well in hand. The additional detection devices you created will strengthen the grove. I believe I will be more helpful at your side. I would also like to use my growing powers and test them."

"Sure." I agreed.

"You are not taking any regular troops?" Lilith asked.

I shook my head. "They would be in danger and I do not see the need. We are not trying to occupy the territory. No, we will unleash all of our magic. It will be hard for regular troops to survive that."

"You need to remember that the recall stone will not restore your spell slots." Lilith pointed out.

"True. However, even without our spell slots we are not defenceless. We still have our aura and physical strength. Lucy can tear a lot of demons apart in her kitsune form. I am quite resilient myself and I am proficient with my sword and could turn into a black panther as well." I said.

"And you will have everything ready, Lilith. With our defences here and you at full power I don't think we have to worry." Lucy added.

Lilith gave Lucy a nod. "I appreciate your trust."

"We are all a family here, sort of." Lucy replied.

"And we all bond through glorious slaughter!" Shani added.

"I think we have everything ready then and can leave tomorrow." I said. "Are you going to join us, or remain here, Meluza?"

"I think I shall remain here." She replied.

I nodded. "Ok. Tomorrow we go to war!"

In the evening I was cuddling with Lucy in our bed when she asked: "What are you going to do with Ashmedai?"

"Um, kill him, probably." I replied.

"Sure, but what are you going to do with the corpse? Are you going to give it to the dryads? Are you going to snackify him?" She asked.

"Snackify? I like that word but I have not yet figured out how to do that. I am also not sure if I want to do that." I replied. "Would you like to consume him? To grow more tails?"

"I want to reach 9 tails eventually, I guess. But I am in no rush. We are immortal, right? We have all the time in the world. As long as I am strong enough to protect what I care for I am happy." She replied.

"Maybe we will just collect the body and give it to the grove. We shall see what happens, I guess." I said.

"Mhm, you will Amaya yourself through it." Lucy said, while snuggling closer.

"Amaya is not a verb." I complained.

"It should be." Lucy teased.

I looked at the smirking kitsune, then I gave her a kiss. It was a rather enjoyable night.
