Amaya

I was sitting next to Lucy until she woke up, it did not take too long.

"Amaya? What is going on?" She asked.

"You are growing a new tail!" I replied.

"Huh." She looked at her rear and moved her new tail around. "How did that happen?"

I explained my changes to devour magic and how I fed mana to the link.

"Neat." She replied.

At that point Lily woke up as well and I went through the same explanation again. While Lucy had taken the explanation in stride, Lily looked far more shocked.

"I… I am becoming a demon lord…" Lily stammered.

"You already did, actually. I can feel your aura." I replied.

"I guess you will be included in aura training from now on." Lucy replied. She had turned back to her humanoid form and patted Lily on the back.

"But… but… one does not just become a demon lord!" Lily insisted.

"Come now, you have been with us long enough." Lucy replied. "This is just Amaya doing Amaya things."

"My lady, how can I ever thank you!" Lily prostrated herself in front of me.

"None of that! You have been a faithful servant and you got your well deserved snack!" I told her.

"You are rather submissive for a demon lord." Kira observed.

"I am their eternal servant." Lily replied.

"Even as a demon lord?" Kira inquired.

"I shall use this power to serve them even better. They already had my undying loyalty, I am not sure what else I can give but I shall repay them for eternity." Lily said.

I was feeling a bit embarrassed by her devotion. "You are our maid knight but we are still friends as well." I said. "So, what happened to Shani?" I asked, partially to change the topic, and partially out of interest. I could see the elemental zipping around but I was curious if she had evolved as well.

"I do not know." Kira replied. "She was not unconscious, quite the contrary, she got a lot of energy."

"Hm. She is an elemental, she is a being of pure magic. I guess the mana had a different effect on her." I mused.

"She does feel stronger through the link." Lucy added.

Shani either noticed our attention, or maybe she realised everyone was awake again, as she zipped towards us.

"This was an amazing slaughter! And you punished the guy for stealing my blood! Yay! I got sooooo much in the end!" Shani hopped around excitedly.

"You have a red bunny tail." Lucy observed.

"Huh? Oh! It also contains blood!" Shani replied. "I think I can do more with it now. I can really empower my lightning with blood! I might be able to tap into Amaya's aura and add a blood rain!"

"Is she evolving into something more than an elemental lord?" Lucy asked.

I shrugged. "I have to admit, I have no idea."

"What now, my lady?" Lily asked.

"We should find Ashmedai's home and loot it." I replied. "I am out of tier 9 spell slots, in case we run into more trouble. But I have got plenty of lower tier ones and my aura."

"I shall crush anyone who dares to challenge you!" Lily vowed. "I… I also have a tier 9 spell now." Her eyes widened.

"I suppose it comes with the whole demon lord thing. While it varies how magical and how physical they are I think all of them should have some high tier magic at least." I said.

"Adult dragons have at least tier 7 magic, elders have tier 9. Anyone reaching the aura stage also has tier 9 magic." Kira added. "However, most do not share how many spellslots they have."

"So, Lily, you are a demon lord now." Lucy stated. "How do your powers work? Succubi are more fire aligned but Amaya is clearly a storm fey. Did you evolve storm powers, or just improve your fire?"

Lily pondered that. She raised her hand and stared at it, then coated it in flame. I saw some tiny purple sparks within the fire.

"I am not sure, my lady. I believe they have somehow mixed, to a degree." Lily replied, then she summoned her lightning wings. They had disappeared during her evolution.

The wings were made of multiple purple lightning bolts now, stretching from her back. In between the bolts were smaller sparks arcing between the big bolts. A little bit of purple flame could be seen on top of her wings.

"They are beautiful." I said, admiring them.

"Thank you, my lady." She replied.

"Needs more blood." Shani commented.

While we admired the wings something occurred to me: "Is there anything left of Ashmedai?"

Kira shook her head. "He was completely dissolved by your spell, or the ritual."

"Everything? No items remained? He did use blood armour but surely he had something, like a storage ring or amulet." I wondered.

"I haven't seen anything." Kira replied.

"Would your spell eat a magical item?" Lucy asked.

"Eh, probably. I am not sure what would happen to the stored items. Are they in a different dimension? Would they just be expelled? Or would they wait there for someone to reopen the portal to them?" I wondered.

"So his stuff could be floating in a weird dimension somewhere?" Lucy wondered.

"It's a possibility. The spell could have consumed everything, I guess." Devour magic was quite greedy. Maybe I should run tests on cheap storage items?

"Anyway, let's find out where Ashmedai lived and loot his place." I suggested.
