World-saving Plan: The Only Savior

Chapter 106: Herbivore or Carnivore (Part 2)

Liu Hai pondered for a while in his mind, then two words suddenly burst into his mind — Greed!

"This... shouldn't be... isn't it a Spiritual Beast... why do I feel this way..."

While muttering to himself, a gust of wind blew, and the trees swayed.

Sunlight shone through the gaps, landing right where the few people were, and also on the white deer's pupils.

In the next moment, Liu Hai's pupils contracted sharply, and his expression instantly turned into one of horror.

"Vertical pupils! It has vertical pupils! It's a carnivore! Old Cheng! Don't go over!"

However, his warning was too late.

Cheng Youquan, despite moving as slowly as possible, had already reached the white deer, with his hand stretched out, seemingly wanting to pat the deer's head.

But at this moment, a sudden change occurred.

The white deer suddenly stretched its head forward and then opened its bloody mouth, biting his arm.

With just one bite, it instantly tore off half of his arm.

Cheng Youquan did not immediately realize what had happened.

It was only when the pain from his arm spread to his brain that he was belatedly aware of what had just happened.

"Ah!!!"

A piercing scream immediately echoed through the forest.

Scarlet blood spilled onto the ground, looking especially glaring in the eyes of these boys, who were still in the Ivory Tower.

"Crunch‒crunch‒crunch~"

The white deer chewed its mouthful, sending waves of bone-crushing sounds.

After finishing eating, it looked back at the others, this time unable to hide its greed.

Perhaps in its view, these weak, two-legged creatures in front could already be added to its menu.

"Gurgle‒gurgle‒gurgle~"

A series of sounds came from afar.

In the hopeless gaze of the three teenagers, seven or eight creatures of the same appearance leapt out from the surrounding bushes, all staring at these prey with a predatory glare.

They opened their mouths wide, emitting "gurgle‒gurgle" sounds, with rows of sharp teeth enough to send chills into anyone's heart.

"Why, why is this happening..."

Wang Zinan stared blankly at the scene.

What they originally thought was an auspicious Spiritual Beast suddenly turned into a man-eating monster, a transformation so sudden that he couldn't accept it.

"Quick, run..."

Liu Hai let out a wretched howl, snapping Wang Zinan out of his stupor.

At this moment, who could still care about friendship or not.

In the face of such a life-and-death crisis, only one's own life mattered, especially when it was a friend met for the first time online.

However, when people are terribly frightened, they often can't control their movements. This was the situation for these two teenagers.

They just felt their hands and feet turn cold, as if filled with lead, unbearably heavy.

No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't move an inch.

Like trying to run in a dream, wanting to accelerate but unable to exert force, willing but powerless.

"Help! Help! Help!"

Cheng Youquan, suffering from a severed hand, was instead the only one who could move.

The great pain spiked his adrenaline, allowing him to clamber up from the ground and run past the others to escape.

However, it was better if he hadn't moved. Once he did, those white deer also sprang into action, instantly targeting the injured boy trying to flee.

"Ah!!!"

A scream rang out.

The speed of those white deer was incredibly fast, and Cheng Youquan didn't get far before being caught and torn apart by the monsters.

Faced with the gruesome scene, Liu Hai and Wang Zinan finally couldn't withstand the horror and completely broke down.

Just moments ago, the partner who had come with them, and the source of the Transcendent they seemed close to finding, how did things turn into this suddenly?

Those seven or eight white deer looked innocuous, yet their mouths opened wide enough to swallow a person's head whole.

In less than ten seconds, Cheng Youquan was reduced to just a pile of tattered clothing and the glaring blood splattered around the grass.

"Gurgle‒gurgle~"

The white deer were giant, a small human couldn't possibly satiate their hunger.

The beasts turned their heads, eyes fixed on the remaining two boys, slowly moving closer.

Liu Hai and Wang Zinan, though somewhat calmed from their initial fright, dared not run again.

After all, the gruesome tragedy was right before their eyes; neither wanted to be the next target eaten.

"Get back! Get back! Get back!"

Liu Hai suddenly raised his hands, frantically shouting at the beasts while trying to edge towards the nearest tree behind him.

Running was clearly impossible.

He had seen the deer's speed earlier, catching up to humans would be all too easy.

Thus, his idea was to create a bigger commotion to scare off the creatures, while looking for a chance to climb a tree.

His actions did have some effect.

The monsters, originally closing in, halted and watched him warily from a distance.

"Yoo-yoo-yoo!"

The first white deer called out several times.

Its companions stirred restlessly, then charged at the two without caution.

Having tasted blood, humans were now seen as prey.

A predator could not be feared by its prey's threats.

Seeing this, the two boys' faces changed, turning and running towards the nearby tree, hoping this would be their salvation.

Alas, they were city kids who lacked physical exercise.

Now, asking them to vertically climb a tree that needs two people to wrap around was impossible.

"Ahhhh!"

Liu Hai and Wang Zinan screamed hysterically while scrambling up the tree.

No matter how hard they tried, they could only move at the base of the trunk, unable to find any hold to climb up.

"Ahhhhh!"

The screams continued.

They dared not look back, fearing that they'd see an awful gaping maw if they turned.

Yet, after ten seconds, their screams persisted, but there wasn't a hint of movement behind them.

Finally, the two came to their senses.

Logically, they should have died multiple times by now, but they still had the strength to climb and were baffled as to what was happening.

Forcing themselves to turn around despite the fear, they were stunned by the scene.

Behind them, the once rampant white deer lay on the ground.

They weren't dead but struggled to stand.

No matter how they tried, their bodies seemed pinned by an invisible mountain, unable to move an inch.

"Yoo-yoo-yoo~"

The white deer screamed, kicking up dust as they thrashed the ground around them.

Liu Hai and Wang Zinan looked up.

In the sky, a humanoid Armor was floating.

The strange gun in its hand emitted a blue glow, evidently responsible for their rescue.

"Robot...?"

The sight left them awestruck.

They never imagined their savior would be a robot.

For a moment, they thought a Cultivator had intervened to rescue them from these monsters.

But the truth left them puzzled.

Why was there a robot in such an immortal mountain? It felt entirely out of place.

"No, that's not a robot! That's... Armor!?"

After a careful look, Liu Hai's mouth dropped, his face full of shock.
