The mighty one spoke truly, and those led by Lonely Wolf knelt on the ground, expressions of admiration on their faces.
"Mighty one, we are here to search for someone. May I ask if you have seen three men?"
Lonely Wolf was infamous, not known for a good reputation; describing him as notorious was only too accurate.
"Three men? I have never seen any men. If you are wise, get lost quickly, or you will suffer the consequences."
Tang Rao was like an Oscar-winning actor; he could play any role convincingly, making Lonely Wolf and his followers truly believe in the mighty one's identity.
"Since the mighty one has spoken, let's withdraw for now."
Lonely Wolf stood up from his kneeling position, patted the dirt from his clothes, and turned around first.
"Boss, aren't we leaving? What about the mission to find the immortal beast?"
This was the only way forward, not advancing meant the mission's failure.
"Big brother, if we don't move forward to find the immortal beast, the mission will end in failure."
The man aimed for the top ten; without achieving that, what meaning would life have for him?
"Yeah, big brother, maybe we could negotiate with the mighty one. Let us go in and have a look. If we find nothing, we'll come out immediately. What do you think?"
I don't think that's a good idea.
Lonely Wolf immediately dismissed the man's suggestion.
"Do you understand the divine might of the mighty one?"
It doesn't occur to people, but mentioning it would surprise them. Take Lonely Wolf, for example, strong as he is. In the presence of a mighty one, a mere breath would cost him his life.
"Forget it, since the strongest among us says it's not possible, going up there would be seeking death."
Someone with sense suggested leaving first. It took Lonely Wolf a while before he realized something was amiss.
Which mighty one would have the time to speak so much with minor figures?
"Something's off, turn back."
Lonely Wolf reacted instantly, but when he returned, there was no trace of Tang Rao and the others. The three men had vanished to an unknown place.
"Damn it!"
Lonely Wolf became so enraged he scared even himself.
"Find them, find these three men. I must have their lives."
Tang Rao and his companions stood on the tree, watching the three below, whispering and chuckling among themselves. The effort spent by those below to find Tang Rao and his team was substantial.
"You search the left, you, and you, go to the right."
Lonely Wolf assigned tasks, and he began a thorough search of the surrounding area.
"Boss, should we continue waiting or leave first, letting them search slowly? The fourth area has a time limit. If we don't go soon, we might not find the immortal beast."
Li Ze was anxious, lacking Tang Rao's composure.
"Let's move on. Watching a performance from a tree is not as good as capturing the immortal beast first."
Tang Rao made a decisive decision.
The further Tang Rao progressed, the stronger the response from the millennial ice on him. Could there be some connection between the immortal beast and the millennial ice?
The path outside was narrow, but as he moved further in, it widened. At the deepest part, Tang Rao smelled a foul stench.
It was like the smell of something's excrement.
"Could it be that we've walked into some monster's latrine?"
Wang He was bewildered, the smell from before was still vivid in his memory.
"If it's as expected, it should be so."
Tang Rao took out a gas mask, even an oxygen bag, to avoid being overwhelmed by the scent.
"Grr grr grr!"
What sound was that?
Tang Rao's first thought was the immortal beast. The sound from this big fellow was quite extraordinary.
"Roar! Grr grr grr!"
The earth shook, and suddenly, the surroundings brightened as everything around collapsed.
"Run quickly."
Tang Rao and his companions wore invisibility cloaks, in theory unnoticed, but the immortal beast noticed, prompting such a grand gesture.
"Bold humans dare trespass into my lair!"
Sure enough, they've been discovered.
Tang Rao grabbed Wang He and Li Ze and dashed outside.
While running, the invisibility cloak remained on their bodies.
Their luck held as they emerged from the lair to find the silhouettes of Lonely Wolf and others.
Appearing so rapidly, Tang Rao and their group dashed through, while the Dragon Lake Beast charged, knocking down those unable to dodge.
"What just passed by, an immortal beast? Our mission?"
Someone finally realized, as the Dragon Lake Beast turned back soon after a brief run.
These humans surely were with the earlier ones. Unable to catch the previous runners, the Dragon Lake Beast dealt with these first.
Lonely Wolf was among the knocked ones, surprisingly unaffected amid dizzy others, standing centrally but injured the most.
"Shameless humans, today is your death day. Die, all of you!"
The cold breath from the Dragon Lake Beast froze the men instantly.
Those who had been complacent became instant ice sculptures.
"I will freeze you, come one, freeze one. There's no way you'd kill me."
The icy temperature kept dropping, changing all expressions inside.
The strongest, Lonely Wolf, quickly broke free, and others followed as the ice altered near him.
"Help, the immortal beast is too strong, it's better to give up."
After passing through the Ghost Gate, four more crushed Jade and left the Ice and Snow World.
Resulting in fewer and fewer, down to nearly just Lonely Wolf's group, no outsiders left along the way.
"If anyone dares leave, I'll kill them."
Lonely Wolf's followers were nearly all gone; losing more left him without allies.
Initially, no one wanted to leave, but Lonely Wolf's threat made them nervously crush Jade, fleeing immediately.
The Land of Immortals is so vast, surely I won't fear you seeking me out and killing me?
Lonely Wolf miscalculated, from forty-six, they dropped to six.
It's impossible to continue like this.
"Hahahaha, you are ultimately no match for me."
The immortal beast faced Lonely Wolf's six, blew a cold breath, and ice froze the men in an instant.
It charged at the ice, shattering it to pieces, along with the people.
In the end, Lonely Wolf didn't even get a chance to crush Jade.
"Hahahaha."
The Dragon Lake Beast tore the six bodies into shreds in a vengeful manner. It still searched for Tang Rao and the other two, who dared enter its lair, surely no good would come of them.
"You will die too, all will die."
Tang Rao ran upfront, still feeling a coolness behind him.
"Don't catch up, don't eat me."
Those people are surely no match for the immortal beast. With no sound behind, it seems they met a grim fate.
