Ronan decided that he liked the sound of the dao of wind. It suited his combat style and he hoped that aligning with it would bring his strength to new heights. He had never used any wind-based skills or spells in the past, which did lead him to question the validity of the notification, but he wasn't about to turn down a power-up.
You have aligned with the [Dao of Wind]!
It wasn't a simple decision that changed his status and nothing else. The moment Ronan accepted the offer, he felt a storm whipping up around him. A few loose pieces of junk in the cell were tossed around, smashing into the walls and getting flung out of the open doorway.
He was almost knocked off the mattress, but he held firm. When the wind wanted to blow him backwards, he leaned with it and held himself strong. When it wanted to send him careening onto the floor, he pushed against it. After about ten seconds of this back-and-forth game, the whirling breeze suddenly turned inwards and flew inside him.
A cold shiver ran down his spine, but he knew immediately that whatever had changed within him had made him qualitatively better in more ways than one. Dao child had proved that it wasn't simply a mindless stat-boosting class, but a true path to power that he hadn't considered before.
He shook his arms a little, not sensing an immediate physical difference, but he knew there would be more time to experiment in future. Right now, there was one last notification that demanded his attention and this time he was certain about what it would be.

A beaming smile crossed Ronan's face as he read through his class options. Unlike all the previous times he'd reached this point with dao child, the basic evolution was not his only potential path.
Not only had he unlocked a class that was above mythical rarity—which meant more chronos merits and also the incredible benefits the class itself offered—but he had unlocked a third potential path that was related to his new dao of wind. Honestly, the choice wasn't simple, despite the heavenly class being the standout option.
Ronan hummed as he read through the notifications. He was making a mountain out of a molehill here. There was only one real choice, and he knew what it was.
He didn't want to pigeonhole himself into the wind path, even though it was the first dao he had resonated with. More than that, if this was to be his next sub-class—and he suspected it would be unless another heavenly option had become available—he wanted it to start at the highest rarity possible. He didn't know how hard it would be to evolve, given that sorcerer still hadn't done so after so many iterations.
You have selected [Blessed Dao Child (Heavenly)] as your class evolution!
Initiating class infusion…
Ronan felt a power like nothing he'd ever experienced before washing over him. For a brief moment he felt as though a consciousness was contained within it, inspecting him. It passed, as did the sensation, and he gasped as the world around him unfroze.
Infusion complete!
Your class has evolved from [Dao Child (Mythical)] to [Blessed Dao Child (Heavenly)]!
Bonus stats for evolution have been retroactively applied
There was only one level's worth of stats to gain, but that single level was worth more than any level before it had been. A little helping of luck and a bit of extra charisma each level, along with a fat chunk of free stat points. If he made this his sub-class… I wonder if the nightmare tutorial will even be a challenge?
He let that arrogant line of thinking be put to rest and returned his attention back to the other notification that he'd left aside. It was time to decide what he wanted to do about his racial evolution. There were so many unknowns surrounding it, and not for the first time Ronan wished he had someone around to guide him in regards to his heritage.
That old geezer should have told me more before he went and died. How the hell did he even die, anyway? I mean if he had the same heritage as me then surely he would have been overpowered as fuck! More unknowns to add to the endless list.
Ronan pulled up the racial evolution notification with a sigh and read through the options again. It was a futile endeavour, as they weren't going to change or grow more powerful simply because he stared at them hard enough.
Ultimately he knew that no matter what happened he was going to take the evolution. At the end of the day, even if he lost out on the chance to get a better racial evolution at the f or e grade, it probably didn't matter that much compared to the power he could gain from other sources. More skills, more traits, better classes, and more. This multiverse was filled with power, and it was ripe for the taking.
You have selected [Human (E)] as your race!
