Banaya lay painfully on the ground, his head and face completely pressed into the surface. Although he was a significant figure in the Bronze Fortress, in the face of the Hell Lord, he was nothing more than a pathetic little bug.
Filled with resentment, he directed all his venomous curses toward that Human Mage. Even now, he couldn't understand why that guy managed to escape the dream half-plane. He had used that place to eliminate many obstacles that tried to stand in his way, including the former administrator of the Curse Bone Gate. It was because of this that he could hold two identities at once, swapping them for convenience and ultimately serving his final goal.
That goal was to surpass the Lord Bel who weighed on his back. But now it seemed that was almost out of reach. Bel not only pressed on his back but also trampled him into the mud like squashing a bug, nearly squeezing his internal organs out.
Lynch looked at the scene before him, always feeling that it was the best reflection of true life in Bator Hell. The power of order was squeezing authority onto the heads of all the beings here. After all, Bator Hell was a brutal place; sympathy and compassion were the least needed things here. The Mage could now command Lord Bel only because he had mastered his True Name. Although Bel could command hundreds of thousands of devils to serve him, he could only submit to Lynch.
However, though True Names were powerful, they also had significant limitations. Unlike Spiritual Control, they couldn't completely grasp the opponent's mind, thus leaving no defense against betrayal. If Bel suddenly turned against him and obliterated the Mage's soul before Lynch could react, then mastering the True Name would be of no protective use. After weighing the power disparity among those names Lynch knew, Bel seemed relatively safe.
However, Bel still held his own thoughts.
"Mr. Mage, I suggest you not personally seek out the Desire Demon named Eryies. Trust me, the environment of that prison is not suitable for humans." The Hell Lord tried to remain still, deliberately ignoring Banaya wriggling beneath his feet. "This Banaya has imprisoned the Desire Demon in the famous Doomsday Fortress. Many who have glanced at it have gone insane. Although I believe the likelihood of such happening to you is very low, still..."
Lynch frowned, displaying an impatient demeanor. The Hell Lord exerted all his effort to suppress the thought of heading to the Doomsday Fortress. He knew he would quickly succumb to the power of the True Name, yet still wanted to delay some time. Too many "important prisoners" were held in the Doomsday Fortress, many with powerful supernatural abilities. If this Mage in front of him saw them, the secrecy risk aside, if the Mage happened to release one or two, it would cause a massive disaster.
Lynch thought for a moment, ultimately giving up the idea of going along. The fact that Bel was trying so hard to delay implied there must be unspeakable secrets there. Lynch did not want more entanglements with hell nor any trouble to burden him upon returning home. So he nodded and said, "Then make it quick. And mind you, if anything happens to Eryies—'any' accident—I will blame it on you."
Without a word, Bel turned and rushed into the Curse Bone Gate.
Lynch looked at the crippled Banaya and felt nothing. The hatred from betrayal had already been avenged, and pity was never suitable for devils. In the Mage's eyes, this Abyss Demon was now merely a stranger, truly "ignored" by Lynch.
It wasn't long before Bel returned, clutching the withered Eryies in his enormous hand. With just a glance, a sharp pain pierced Lynch's heart. The Desire Demon, who had always been bold and assertive, now looked depressed, hanging her head silently. Even when grasped by the Hell Lord, Eryies did not respond; she neither struggled nor showed surprise. From Lynch's perspective, the Desire Demon appeared to have given up on life, completely despairing, making everything seem meaningless.
