Lynch didn't look up, still focused on drawing the magic pattern on the ground. He naturally knew there was someone behind him, as the Eye of Insight was always working, but the creation of magic runes was an inherently meticulous task.
Eryies stood in front of the bald magician, her current Desire Demon face was enough to attract the gaze of all the magicians: "Oh, sir, may I ask who you are? Do I have the honor of making the acquaintance of one of you?"
The bald magician was only slightly stunned before recognizing the species of the creature in front of him. Although everyone knew that Desire Demons were messengers that lured people to hell, feeding on souls and showing no mercy to those they needed to entice. Yet at that moment, he couldn't control his gaze, not wanting to look away from the Desire Demon even for a second. "Hello, la...lady. My name is Soraya. Nice to meet you."
The magicians behind the bald man looked at Soraya with envy, but not wanting to be disrespectful in front of Eryies, they could only stand there obediently.
"Why are you the ones welcoming us? You don't look like dwarves at all, each one tall and filled with charm." Eryies smiled as she said to the group, though her words contained no friendliness: "Besides, I think you can see, even those cute dwarves wouldn't disturb our work, so what urgent matter do you think you have to speak about now?"
"Lady, it's...it's like this..."
"Oh, I see. You really are a sweet big boy." Eryies stepped forward, interrupting him before he could finish: "I guess you must be here for me, right? I'm glad someone here cares so much about me, and... the one who cares is such an... energetic person. However, my dear Soraya, I have a troubling matter in my heart, and I need your strong and powerful hands to solve it for me."
"Heart? My hands?" Soraya seemed to have forgotten his original purpose and hastily said: "Lady, please speak your mind. Let me share your worries."
"Oh, what a gentleman, filled with noble temperament. I am truly happy to meet you before the other girls." Eryies covered her mouth and laughed lightly, but her gaze simultaneously encompassed all the magicians present. Thus, all the magicians believed Eryies was speaking directly to them with her next words. "But I'm just one person, with a youthful heart, how can I satisfy so many excellent lads?"
Lynch remained crouched on the ground, but a slight smile tugged at the corners of his mouth. He had seen many tricks like those of the Desire Demon, and few could be immune to such charms. Generally, Eryies would plant a seed within a group, allowing those who wished to see a bloom to water the seed with their desires. Even the strongest rock would gradually fracture until it became a pile of sand.
However, Lynch hadn't expected the dwarf who had been standing behind Eryies to suddenly roar, "Then let's see who is truly the best!" then charged at Soraya with his hammer raised.
'How did you get affected too?' Lynch was taken aback, quickly blocking two magic flames shooting toward Morgan. Encouraged by the dwarf's battle cry, the magicians "suddenly realized" and turned their magic on each other, in their state of hot-headedness, restraint and constraint lost all meaning.
Eryies shrieked and carefully dodged a missile arrow, putting on a startled appearance. The magicians blamed the accident on the "enemy" beside them. They yelled, "Idiot!" "Madman!" and "Fool," short yet powerful slogans, unleashing a chaotic magic battle in the square.
Morgan leaped into the air, his hammer almost crashing into Solaka's head. But his body suddenly stalled, then was flung backward with great force, flying straight out of the battlefield. He rolled five or six times before coming to a stop, cursing at Lynch for "ruining his fun."
But the mage had no time to argue with him; he was maintaining the spell nullification barrier, keeping the magicians' battle confined to a small area, preventing them from damaging the unfinished magic array and the residents of Dwarf City. Every time a fireball exploded on this barrier, Lynch's body would tremble slightly. He didn't know why, but confronting the magicians' magic was more exhausting than he had imagined.
Eryies hadn't anticipated this result either, but she quickly figured out her next move. The Desire Demon stood outside the barrier, feigning a worried expression, but would occasionally cheer for those inside. In any case, she wouldn't let the magicians come to their senses and stop their fighting.
However, the magicians soon noticed the spell barrier outside and the mage. It wasn't out of hatred or any premeditated action; they were merely instinctively targeting Lynch with the attack spells they had prepared. Just then, Eryies let out a startled cry, causing three young men to miscast due to distraction.
"Have you had enough yet?" Seeing himself become the target, Lynch immediately altered his spell usage. He cast an Anti-Magic Field over the magicians, extinguishing any uncast fireballs, Lightning Spells, then used the force field wall of his Powerful Wand to create a circle around the Anti-Magic Field.
"Don't disturb my work." Lynch threw a Flash Bomb within the magic field area. Contrary to the magicians' expectations, the flash remained dazzlingly bright, forcing them to close their eyes in pain and endure the burning discomfort.
"How can you cast spells within an Anti-Magic Field like that person?" Solaka tried to step out of the zone but found he couldn't budge the invisible force field wall.
"What exactly do you magicians want in Dwarf City?" Lynch frowned and said, "Although I'm not a resident here, I do have the right to ask: What is your purpose?"
"Mage, you are strong, but we will not yield!" Solaka stubbornly retorted. Aside from the soot on his face and holes in his clothes, the Desire Demon's influence had already dissipated. "You mages only bring destruction to this world!"
"Enough, I don't want to argue with you." Looking at the profound magic pattern, Lynch realized that a large portion needed to be redrawn. He waved his hand and said, "Lift the blockade on Dwarf City and leave at once."
"You can't drive us away because this land originally belonged to us!" Solaka responded, "Our ancestors lived here! If it weren't for you mages, we could have lived longer. Now, we want to return to our ancestral home!"
"Submit your reasons and negotiate with the dwarves," Lynch glared at Solaka: "But lift the blockade immediately, and refrain from using any spells within the city limits."
The magicians looked at the mage, intending to retort. But within the Anti-Magic Field, they were powerless.
"If anyone has any objections, I'll let them live here permanently." Lynch's voice struck each magician deeply to their core: "Remember my words, the cemetery here is large."
