Mage Legend

Chapter 679: Legendary and Legends in Legends Chapter Eighteen Origin_4

Zilvra and Soka standing up simultaneously caught Lynch's attention, and then he saw Soraya approaching slowly. The mage did not know that the dwarf was negotiating with this group of magicians, only able to infer the city's situation from the changes in the surrounding environment. The dwarves' lives remained peaceful and serene, while the magicians were worried, at least things were not developing in a bad direction.

Soraya stood a few steps away from Lynch, scratching his nonexistent hair. Lynch paused his work, looking at him with some curiosity, "Magician, what do you want this time?"

"Mage Lynch, I don't know how to say this, so I'll just say it directly." Soraya stood up straight, recalling many protective spells in his mind. But could these spells really work in front of Lynch? The magician himself did not know. "Mr. Mage, how many Arcane Origin Scrolls do you have?"

Lynch suddenly stepped forward, the movement so abrupt that even Zilvra thought it was a signal to "act" and drew her thin sword. Soraya was taken aback, and the spells in his mind instantly vanished. However, Lynch simply frowned, carefully scrutinizing Soraya up and down, "Why are you asking this?"

'That question again!' Soraya felt very helpless, why must his clan adhere to the oath and not reveal even a hint of the situation? He shook his head and said nothing.

"The Arcane Origin Scrolls are now mine. Although I don't know how you heard about this and learned their true name, I must tell you one thing: they are now mine," Lynch said. "Unless you can prove that you are the scrolls' owners, I can't tell you any more information."

"No one will be the owner of the scrolls, no one…" Soraya said, "Please, do not use the magic on the scrolls again, will you?"

"Why?"

"I can't say."

Lynch frowned, he found it really difficult to talk to these magicians. But as a mage, he still had some means to make the other side open their mouth. Just a little charm spell could end this back-and-forth stalemate.

"Soraya, my friend," Lynch said. "As someone who can use magic like me, you know how painful it is to seal your own power, it's no different from erasing the meaning of life. But that's not something that can't be negotiated, after all, there are more important things in the world than gaining power. Let me give you an example, for the sake of my best friend, I might consider giving up everything. But Soraya, my friend, honesty and openness are the primary prerequisites for building trust. Since I can tell you that I have three scrolls, why can't you tell me your troubles? Sharing with a friend can lighten the burden."

Soraya opened his mouth, seemingly trying to say something but unable to utter a word. He looked up at Lynch's face, into those deep white eyes, and then at the magician companions gathered around him, seeming to hesitate for a moment. Lynch made no movement, merely standing silently, like a playwright quietly timing the climax of a plot.

"Don't get agitated, speak slowly," Lynch's voice was like that of an old friend comforting a frightened child. It was like seeing a lighthouse flickering in a black storm, providing hope for the sailors tossed about on the turbulent waves. Soraya suddenly felt exhausted and involuntarily let slip the words he never dared to utter.

"It is the legacy of the Magic God."
