Mage Legend

Chapter 720: Legends and the Legends in Legends Chapter Twenty-Eight Assassin_4

"But he's also got big trouble. For example, the consumption of weapons and dwindling supplies," Lynch said. "The scattered soldiers of Holy Pate are moving towards the Five Realms Fortress, so the pressure there is increasing. I am now going to deliver some powerful defensive weapons to them."

As they spoke, a messenger from the Five Realms Fortress walked towards them. Since the griffin troops lost enough combat power, these airborne cavalry mainly became couriers for orders, with the speed of the birds ensuring most messages could be delivered smoothly. However, intercepting enemies in the air was also a common occurrence. The messenger's face was currently looking very disheveled, with soot and scorch marks turning into a comical pattern as they mixed with his sweat.

Deluo sniffed twice, like a Winter Wolf searching for prey through scent. He looked at the messenger and slightly frowned. As Lynch reached out his hand to greet the person, Deluo's fingers lightly crept onto the hilt of his Double-headed Sword, gently drawing the weapon out a bit.

"What kind of news does Wislin have for me?" Lynch inquired, "Are the Snake-men planning to attack again?"

"It's not like that, Great Mage," the messenger shook his head and then said very respectfully, "A new kind of enemy has recently appeared. They are hard to detect and are always invisible. Many officers have been ambushed and killed. So Wislin wants to ask how to deal with this situation."

Lynch furrowed his brow and pinched his chin to think about the problem. Just as his gaze left the messenger, the guy suddenly pulled a flashing dagger out of his sleeve and lunged towards the mage at top speed.

"Watch out!" Deluo shouted, and his Double-headed Sword immediately jumped into his hand. However, Lynch's reaction was even quicker, and a spiritual power shock was fired at the assassin. Before the assassin was within three meters of the mage, the messenger's chest was struck heavily, as if directly hit by a Siege Hammer, causing him to fly back through the air.

But Lynch still felt something was wrong; his Refined Gold left hand throbbed with pain, indicating more ambushes nearby. Insight vision initiated immediately, but he only saw Deluo swinging a broadsword behind him.

For a moment, he thought the threat came from this warrior. However, the trajectory of the Double-headed Sword's swing did not pass through the mage's body. The Refined Gold left hand pulled Lynch half a step back, just as Deluo's weapon swept past in front of him.

The vibration from his arm told Deluo that he had struck something in mid-air. The magical Double-headed Sword erupted in a flash of light, with a boom, exploding into a mass of Red Mist. The smoke wavered, and a pair of black voids stared at Lynch like eyes, erupting with a milky white gleam.

Before Lynch could decide what spell to use to subdue this lurking creature, Deluo had already swung his sword five times in a row, the Red Mist twisted into a tangled mass under the silver blade's trail. When the ethereal body twisted to its limit, the strange entity dispersed suddenly.

A breeze blew, causing the Red Mist to vanish without a trace, as if it never existed. Deluo sniffed around again before securely sheathing his weapon. He turned to Lynch and said, "Mage, I don't know if you have the same feeling, but I think we've seen something like this before."

"Yes, we have. It's the same type of thing as Finder," Lynch said with certainty after thinking for a moment. "That messenger might have been possessed by this thing to carry out the assassination mission on me. But..."

"But what?" Deluo went over to inspect the entity that left a physical form. The messenger's chest was completely sunken in, and all ribs and internal organs seemed crushed, making it impossible for him to still be alive. Deluo shook his head, "What a terrible way to die."

"If the target were me, there should have been a stronger assassin," Lynch said. "The big snake should know my capabilities; he knows that such an attack wouldn't harm me."

"So what? If it weren't for me, you'd be in big trouble today," Deluo looked around as two mages ran in their direction. "You mages handle such situations worse than I, a trained warrior!"

"You're right; this wasn't an action targeted at me, but at all mages!" Lynch immediately cleared his thoughts, "Finder is preparing to start revenge. And his master, since I took over the entire association, must feel that mages are a hindrance. All clues lead to one answer: the Snake-men are about to launch a major operation!"
