Deluo had just lifted his foot, turned around, and attempted to find a place to hide when the pressure on him suddenly disappeared. The black dots transformed into two beams of light, swiftly approaching the Five Realms Fortress with white trails.
The sound of the warning horn rang out, and the archers immediately braced themselves, taking their stand on the first row of the city wall. They glanced up at the position flag atop the fortress, drew their bows fully, aimed in the direction indicated by the flag, and immediately spotted the intruders. As soon as the signal was given, these guards could unleash a barrage of arrows, dense and impenetrable.
Lynch's Eye of Insight observed the changes on the city wall, and a relieved smile appeared on his face. The soldiers were so vigilant and their actions swift, it seemed Wislin indeed had his unique talents in training and deploying defenses. He raised his hand and used the Illusion Technique to write enormous words in the air: "I am Lynch, do not shoot."
However, the soldiers only paused slightly, yet remained steadfast at their posts, aiming firmly in the mage's direction. It wasn't until Wislin, clad in full armor, came rushing out from the command room, full of energy. His vision couldn't clearly see the newcomer's appearance, but this was no problem for the elf Anna. Wislin quickly ordered the soldiers to put away their weapons, then, with Anna, walked toward the open space in front of the fortress.
Lynch and Zilvra descended gently, as gracefully as catkins drifting in the warm spring breeze. Lynch was still wearing the white robe of the Light Temple, with the Sun God Emblem on his chest glimmering with golden light. The purple-golden Arcane Wand floated lightly by his side, silent and loyal like a dutiful guard.
Zilvra had long discarded her "noble attire," the long dress full of pleats and lace edges was like the shackles of a prisoner to her. She changed into black tight-fitting clothes, with a Pierce Thin Sword without a scabbard snug against her outer thigh. A row of pouches was strapped to her slender waist, possibly containing various deadly poisons. The Elf Cloak on her shoulders could change color with the environment, now shifting from its original yellow-green to the same gray-white as the ground. This ensemble caught the eyes of the fortress guards, but Lynch's hand resting on Zilvra's waist seemed out of sync with the scene, seriously disrupting the overall aesthetic.
"Welcome back, Lynch!" Wislin walked up with a smile, saying loudly, "Why did you go to Pate City for your honeymoon? If you had notified me ahead of time, I would have replaced Kuboert to personally wait for you there!"
The mage chuckled, withdrew his arm from Zilvra's waist, and then pointed to the Sun Emblem on his chest. "Wislin, my rank is now higher than yours, watch out or I might complain to the temple for slandering a superior."
"Whatever." Wislin shrugged nonchalantly. He said, "Do you want to dock my salary directly? Or should I invite you inside for a meal? Thanks to you, the fortress now has an abundance of food, fruits, and meats, and I finally have the means to host a guest."
"Forget it, let's talk about something serious." The curious soldiers gathered more and more around them, making the mage who preferred solitude feel a bit uncomfortable. "What's the situation lately? Are they all well?"
"They're all well!" Anna smiled, answering for Wislin. "The dwarf Morgan curses at you all day, saying you didn't take him along for some fun and that you're not a good friend. The other ladies feel about the same. But before you go look for them, you'd better meet someone first. He claims to know you and wants a face-to-face talk."
Lynch frowned, looking at the female elf as he asked, "Who is it? Someone you're so concerned about."
Wislin replied, "He only recently started to reveal some information, and his name is peculiar, going by the name Regula. Sounds like a vampire's title. Lynch, do you know this guy?"
Lynch and Zilvra exchanged a glance, simultaneously saying, "What's that guy doing here?"
