Chapter 614: Slicing Meat

Thirteen days have passed since the new student assessment.

Both students who were under provisional review, Rabbit Riley and Mia of the Eight Evil People, have now obtained formal student status.

Luo Di, of course, stayed diligently inside the school to study, being incredibly busy with evening lessons almost every night.

Occasionally, he even had to juggle two or three lessons at the same time, leaving him so exhausted that he would often fall asleep as soon as he lay down, sometimes even staying overnight at a teacher's house.

This evening, Luo Di finally managed to carve out some time to do something he wanted to do.

He waited until all the teachers and students had finished dinner, then went alone to the school cafeteria, planning to ask Hunter about the issue of "lethality."

After eating a bowl of spicy ribs noodles, Luo Di headed towards the important area inside the cafeteria—the [kitchen], with a piece of pumpkin pie in his mouth as guided.

Hunter was engaged in a high-difficulty "sculpting" task that had already taken many days.

From the first day on the job, after realizing that Luo Di would occasionally come to him with questions in the evening, he began this project.

The so-called sculpture was not made of stone or wood... but of meat.

What he was sculpting was none other than a Joke.

Using the physical contact from their last collaboration, and the partially bitten skin as reference, Hunter employed his perfect "Blood and Flesh Appreciation" to attempt to recreate Joke's body.

Chewing a large amount of flesh in his mouth for a long time, he eventually chewed it into flesh similar to Joke's, then kneaded the meat pieces together to form a preliminary model, which required extended carving and refinement afterward.

Today was the completion day.

Luo Di was startled as soon as he stepped into the kitchen, almost impulsively slashing out instinctively.

In pursuit of authenticity, Hunter even painted the meat sculpture with paint.

Luo Di reached out to touch the surface of the meat sculpture, instantly feeling a strong sense of repulsion. Knowing it was fake, it still caused significant psychological discomfort.

"Hunter, is this what you mentioned before, trying to recreate? Can it be done so finely?"

"Previously, I couldn't, because once the meat was in my mouth, I could never spit it out. Now I feel I can do it, so I gave it a try.

After all, I once gnawed at him, his flesh and blood composition etched into my memory.

Of course, this is limited to Joke's regular stance. I cannot present his misty characteristic, nor can I present the ability he acquired from the Outer Realm.

This is merely for the basic exercise in lethality, and besides, have you not acquired your weapon yet?"

"No, I guess I'll have to wait until a month of campus life ends before the teachers let me go. Judging from your and Joke's ambush on me earlier, I've probably been wanted over there; venturing out to get something could lead to trouble."

"Then give it a try first."

"Alright, I'll first try using ordinary means."

With matured plants and a reclaimed Hell Shell, even an ordinary swing from Luo Di could reach previous extremes.

Taking a big stride forward,

Jason's bat gripped in hand,

even though Luo Di wasn't wearing a mask, in the moment of holding the bat, he vaguely saw half a mask on his face.

Hands pressing down,

bat crushing,

the entire kitchen seemed to tremble slightly from the pressure.

As the bat made contact with the meat sculpture's head, Luo Di suddenly reversed his force, forcibly restraining the attack.

A ripple of air expanded beneath his feet, making the kitchen utensils clang and rattle.

Luo Di frowned, staring at the Joke meat sculpture in front of him.

The bat barely touched the skull, a soft texture between rubber and a balloon.

The reason for stopping was because the flick of the tongue sensed danger, and Luo Di even, to a certain degree, glimpsed the [Danger Window*].

*Able to see the specific presentation of dangerous processes within the field of vision.

The bat not only couldn't break through the meat sculpture, but would also bounce back, hitting Luo Di himself, leaving him bloody and battered.

At this moment, Hunter suddenly walked up, stroked his chin, and posed an unfriendly question:

"You can't kill?"

"Huh?"

"I mean, your technique doesn't look like it's meant to kill, but more like to deliver some kind of punishment. Or, you think you are killing, but have never thought about how to actually kill.

Your talent is high, your system unique, so when facing opponents of the same tier or even slightly higher, you can rely on this talent to claim victory, seemingly creating some murderous impact.

But what you are doing is definitely not killing,

the previous assessment match showed it, when you were battling with the Sisterhood's executioner, you never had killing methods, always trying to suppress and punish.

I thought you didn't deliver the fatal blow considering your comradeship,

but today, even when your most hated target is here, you still don't have the posture of killing.

You chose the Black Door Killer, yet Mia does it much better in this aspect."

After this reprimand, Luo Di, instead of getting angry, widened his eyes in curiosity. No teacher or friend had ever mentioned this point about "killing," and he was eager to hear Hunter's opinion.

Moreover, as one of the top Red Door Monsters, Hunter had absolute authority to speak.

"Can you teach me?"

"Sure, hand me your club."

"Alright."

Hunter took the club, and due to the mismatched Fear attribute, the club itself didn't grant him any Jason traits; in his hands, it was just an ordinary metal club.

Hunter stood in front of the dummy,

his gaze suddenly shifted.

With a single heavy-handed swing,

Snap!

The Joker's meat sculpture began to disintegrate from the head, until it was crushed into minced meat.

Of course,

this was limited to physical destruction; the flying pieces of meat quickly came back together.

As Hunter handed the club back, he quietly asked, "Did you see clearly?"

"Is it a matter of 'Focusing'?"

"Your observational skills are quite decent. Yes... your so-called chopping is always about thinking how to crush, how to behead, how to pound, how to slice.

Your focus is always on yourself; the target is just a labeled object, nothing more.

Be it a pig, a human, a Pseudo-Person, or a monster, they're all the same in your eyes.

This is fundamentally wrong.

If you are to kill, the focus must be on the 'person.'

You need to focus on the structural components regarding him,

you need to focus on whether your attack can accurately hit the weaker structural points,

you need to focus on whether the 'Force' applied with a weapon can unscrew the flesh along the optimal path.

And you need to focus on the exact kind of physical destruction that will kill most swiftly.

Killing isn't about exercise; the longer it lasts, the worse it is.

Killing is a quick and refined task, which must be accomplished with the most efficient and precise methods."

Luo Di listened, eyes brightened, as if enlightened. But although the reasoning was sound, how to achieve this was the real key.

"Can you teach me again?"

"This isn't something you can learn by just watching a few times; you're just a beginner. This piece of Joker's meat sculpture isn't suitable for training, use it later.

How is your schedule these upcoming days?"

"It's okay, I'm not very busy, but I often get called back for extra lessons in the evening."

"Evening lessons, daytime is okay then?

Alright, starting tomorrow, come to the canteen every morning at four, at noon and half-past ten, and at four-thirty in the afternoon if you have no class."

"What for?"

"Help me prepare ingredients... If you want to understand biological structures and know the most efficient killing paths, you must understand basic meats first.

The best way to become 'Proficient' is through constant, high-intensity practice, letting it become muscle memory, making it as ordinary as breathing.

There are over ten days left; whether you'll manage depends on your talent.

There's still some time tonight, let's give it a try now."

"Okay."

Hunter directly took out several steaks and threw them on the cutting board, "Using the kitchen knife, slice these steaks along what you think is the best grain."

Ten minutes passed.

Luo Di was incredibly focused on slicing, inexplicably breaking into a sweat.

Hunter, having smoked a cigarette, came to inspect and looked drastically furious, raised his hand to slap but then put it down.

"What did you cut here? Is this meant for human consumption? You're simply wasting food. It's a waste if an animal eats it."

Hunter directly consumed all these slices, and by chewing, restored them to the original steak shape, reusable.

"I'll demonstrate it for you again. Watch closely! If you cut this garbage again, don't bother coming here and wasting my time."

Luo Di was left completely stunned by this strict reprimand as if he was back to getting scolded during his school days.

Hunter suddenly realized his excessive aggression, swifty swallowed the flooding agitation, "I'm sorry, I'm quite serious about cooking. Luo Di, watch closely, I'll demonstrate it slowly."

"Okay."

One night passed.

Initially told he didn't need extra lessons tonight and only to have a dinner, Luo Di still hadn't returned...
