Infernal Apocalypse [ LitRPG , Non-Human Lead, Lots and lots of Fire ]

164. Hand in Hand (Book Two)

Well there was no secret in the fact that the situation was probably a bit bad at the moment.

It didn't take a genius to observe the countdown for more than a second to realize that from the left, the three numbers were hours, minutes, and seconds. Which meant we had less than day.

Less than a day to figure out how to not only break past the collection of ships of cultivators in front of us but also find exactly where the sacrifice is being held and then fight off whatever is defending that.

Things really didn't look good.

"Any ideas?"

Jrino spoke up first.

"Perhaps we should try finding a less guarded position."

Scalera was there to immediately give a response.

"The Patriarch shared with us the time we have left. We don't have time to search for a less guarded position."

"Then the alternative is to go headfirst into the jaws of death. "

"Infernals do not fear death."

From there a short discussion resounded and it took a few precious minutes before a potential solution was finally found.

It came from Seiha.

Who was not actually on our ship but was called to be included in the conversation.

"I have… a device that can cause severe damage to the enemies before us. It won't be strong enough to kill all of them, in fact it won't even come close. But it will cause of enough disarray to give us a chance to at least enter the continent.

"Though this will only be enough to get us there without dying on approach. Many of them will still be alive. I don't think I need to explain what will happen after that."

"What is this device you're talking about?"

"You will see."

And with that the call disconnected.

If the present time limits didn't exist I'm sure we would've taken some time to perhaps verify what this device was, but as it stands our options were limited. Each second that passed was a second closer to our doom.

Of course, I didn't fail to consider the fact that Elder Zal and Scalera's Matriarch or whoever else was outside of the Planet fighting could win and reach us before everything went nuclear, but it would be stupid to assume that will happen.

If it did then great, but we had to act as if failure here meant death.

And so Seiha with her mystery device could do as she pleased as long as it did she said it would.

We didn't have to wait long for Seiha to appear in front of the ships. Her red combat armor, a striking contrast between the blue sky and the dark lands ahead of us.

A moment later something that I would have never would have guessed to exist in this new cultivation reality appeared in her hands.

This tale has been unlawfully obtained from Royal Road. If you discover it on Amazon, kindly report it.

I had no idea what type of device I would have thought she would pull out, but it definitely wasn't she now calmly held with both her hands.

A massive cannon.

It appeared to be something straight out of an extremely advanced war machinery focused Earth from thousands of years in the future.

In fact, calling it just a massive cannon seemed to be disservice.

It looked more like a railgun. I've never actually seen a railgun in real life, but enough movies and descriptions led me to believe that Seiha was holding one right this very second. It was about 6 feet in length and the amount of colors I saw constantly flashing across its metal exterior was enough to drive someone dizzy.

There wasn't too much time left to enjoy it though when all the lights promptly shifted to red before immediately turning bright blue.

Which we quickly realized meant it was about to fire as a noise akin to a wind turbine spinning right next to your ear began to grow in strength and loudness for about 45 seconds before a boom that quite literally shook the massive ship I was in for a few moments.

A black beam shot out of the device I dubbed a railgun at a speed that seemingly almost caused to the atmosphere itself to rip apart in a bid to escape the destruction that would soon follow the beam when it made impact.

An impact that apparently wasn't needed in the first place.

The moment the beam reached the front of the group of Vamps and ships that were now practically teleporting with how fast they were moving to get of the way, it exploded.

Seiha's voice roared from outside as she moved back towards her own ship.

"FULL THROTTLE!!"

The temporary pilots of the ships were already prepared and immediately our engines roared to life and as the explosion sounded off in the distance our ships sped off towards it.

Towards what had now become a multi-tiered explosion. I don't know how many different booms sounded in the area, but at some point a vacuum like noise could be heard as if a gapping hole had opened up in the middle of the explosion and screamed for anything that existed around it to accept being devoured with open arms.

Many of their ships joined in the explosions and I'm sure a good amount Vamps either died or suffered very real injuries because of it.

But true to her word.

Most of the Vamps remained alive and it didn't take long for them to let their presences be known.

I don't even know how many attacks headed towards us and many of them connect and continuously shook the ship as alarms and lights blared around us but we persisted.

The ships progressed downwards and as far in towards the center of the continent as we could before it felt like that the ships would be torn apart completely and it was then I exited the ship.

Well to be more accurate, Scalera grabbed me and on my order brought us outside and I didn't waste any time uttering a singular word.

"Vorrash!"

One again a dark veil descended on seemingly everything in sight, except this veil of mine was clearly different from the darkness that already encompassed the lands around us.

The presence of that familiar being once again made itself known and I could quite literally feel Scalera's body shaking from fear? Reverence? Excitement? No idea but she was trembling almost uncontrollably.

Of course, the power I could channel through the Veil was not nearly enough to stop Nascent Soul cultivators and they were still attacking but despite her trembling Scalera was actively protecting me from what seemed like nuclear level attacks constantly heading in this direction.

This time the presence didn't seem to be in a talkative mood and he only said one singular line.

"This will cost you."

I knew the line was referring to me, and I didn't get to see the result of whatever it did, as I promptly coughed up a disgusting amount of blood and was promptly gripped by the hold of unconsciousness….

While Raizen was unconscious…

The Eternal Veil was the method in which the [Redacted] communicated with their [Redacted], and it was through this Veil that a great amount of power flooded into the battlefield.

Every single Infernal in the area felt the urge to drop to their knees to behold the presence of a being that was [Redacted].

But while the Infernals felt deep rooted reverence, everyone else felt fear so deep that even their most vile nightmares appeared like safe havens in the moment.

Especially the Vhampryls. They knew…they knew this was the moment they would die.

And die they did.

Every single one of them was covered in flames so black that previous darkness around the continued might as well have been the sun itself.

There was nothing left of their bodies. There would be nothing to remember, nothing to mourn, and nothing to learn from their deaths apart from a fact that had long since echoed deeply throughout the Multiverse.

Infernals walk hand in hand with Destruction.
