The following days seemingly passed by in a blur. After getting some help from the mermaid Immortal to return back to the Infernal District, a lot happened very fast. She told me we would be leaving to go to her Empire as soon as I told her I was ready. She was not really in a rush and once again I was reminded that the way she time was not same as the rest of us.
Anyway, there were some things I wanted to handle before I left for this long of a trip. Firstly, the members of my clan needed to know what was going on. They needed to see me. I needed to see them. I needed to learn who died because I still had no idea.
I had to get all the numbers, get all the names and when I did…I learned 437 Infernals died that day.
And it likely would have been more, if not for the fact that the mermaid Immortal removed the rat man from Earth, which helped to save the lives of my people. For that, I will always be thankful, and for that I do not owe her just one favor. Whatever she asks of me, I will see it done. That I swear.
Funnily enough, as much as this affects me, it did not seem to affect my people quite as much. Yes, they felt the impact of those who died, but this is a race of people who live and die through war. Just like how winning and losing a war were two sides of the same coin, so too is living and dying. And it is not the first time they have had to experience the loss of their fellows clan members and friends.
Though it is the first time I have experienced it on such a grand scale, and honestly, it makes me sick. Sick about my level of power, sick about the situation that got us here, sick... just sick. But thankfully there is no time for me to mope around or cry or be sad or be depressed. Otherwise, I think I could spend a few years just sitting in a corner and thinking about the result of this battle, if I could even call it a battle.
Instead, I have been forced into meeting after meeting. Well, forced is the wrong word. These are things I have chosen to do. Meeting with my Infernals, setting up a proper memorial, getting plenty of things in order, and verifying who was dead and who was alive.
I made sure to check in with my leaders, the boys, Ozal, Vrusha, and Izanshi, the leader of the Black Dawn. All of them had their input, all of them had things to say, but no matter what it was, every single one of them was willing to move with me to the end of the Multiverse.
Of course, it is only right that I bring them with me, every single one of them. I thought about just moving with the members of my guard but considering the fact that I do not know when I will be returning, and the fact that I know the Empire we will be traveling to is in a completely different universe than the one I am currently in, it does not feel right leaving them here.
Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.
Which means that no people directly under me, such as the members of my clan, will remain on Earth after I leave. Of course, I will not be rescinding my Planetary Lord position, but a new City Lord of Black Cove City will need to be appointed.
So many things need to happen. Thankfully the mermaid Immortal was not in a rush to leave, because I was definitely not in a rush to leave.
Not because I had things to do and plans to put in place, new positions to fill, and memorials to hold, since that wouldn't take so much time, but mostly because of a very particular Infernal still undergoing their breakthrough to the Immortal Realm.
I am not sure when it will finish, but I will at least give him some time. In talking to Vrusha and the mermaid Immortal, I learned it would not be wise to interrupt him or even move his body unless I wanted to ruin his breakthrough. Vrusha told me at the earliest it would be a decade, while the Immortal told me it could be decades, maybe even a century before his breakthrough is completed.
That is the type of time it requires to reach the Immortal Realm. But I do not care. As a Patriarch, it is only right that I support him. So we will wait.
In the meantime, many things need to be put in place, but I will leave that to my people for now. I think I will focus on getting stronger with the remaining time I have here before we leave. I highly doubt I will reach the Immortal Realm, but Nascent Soul should not be too far out of reach.
So, with that being said, I picked myself up and traveled all the way to the volcano where Lidaz was completing his breakthrough. Then I flooded it with Eternal Flames, therefore flooding with Infernal Qi. The others let me know that while I did the thing my memories were sealed about, that a lot of Infernal Qi had permeated the air, and it had benefited them in their cultivations.
Of course, I asked them what I did, but every single one of them was told that they were not allowed to tell me, and it was ordered by another Patriarch. Of course, if I explicitly ordered them to say what happened, they would have let me know. But out of respect for that Patriarch, I decided to leave it be.
Out of curiosity, I did ask Richard about it since we had to talk, and he had no recollection. He remembered when the rats appeared on the planet, and then they were gone. That was it.
I asked a few other people just out of curiosity, and all of them said the same thing. Rats appeared on the planet, and then they were gone. That Patriarch was a very busy man, it seems.
Anyway, I flooded the volcano with Eternal Flames to hopefully expedite the process of breaking through to the Immortal Realm and to make the breakthrough easier and more powerful for Lidaz.
…
I sat there for roughly three years just meditating and working on keeping the Eternal Flames going. It was good for me. I was working on essentially building up stamina with my flames whilst working on reaching the Nascent Soul Realm.
Of course…there was also plenty of time to organize my thoughts regarding what happened.
It's not something I think I will ever forget. Nor will that being who cased it die an easy death…but that isn't something I'm capable of rectifying for now.
Though it wasn't these thoughts that interrupted my mediation…instead that was because I received a call.
"It has been quite some time since we last spoke."
It was Sendoira the Planetary Lord of Zaiyan.
