That was ridiculous, of course. She couldn't give two shits what happened to Nova, or what Kenneth ultimately decided to do with her. And yet it was the fact that Nova was with Kenneth that put that twinge of disgust in her stomach. No, no that wasn't it, it couldn't be. The very idea was ridiculous. The two separated from each other and walked back into the office.
Nova nodded to Emily as she walked past. She was wearing a deep green suit. Her skirt was on the shorter side but her matching green velvet boots came up over her knees and made up the difference. Her suit was buttoned up to just above her cleavage, showing nothing but her lower neck. Her look suggested openness and sexuality without actually showing, or promising, anything. Emily was a little surprised that her assessment of the clothes happened automatically. If observation wasn't such a useful trait to have and use to her own advantage, she might be a bit alarmed at the way she found herself thinking these days.
Kenneth led Nova back to just in front of his desk. He stood there looking at the statuesque figure that was Nova. Emily found it a bit weird that the woman didn't seem to have a last name. But it didn't seem to bother anyone else, so she didn't worry either.
"Emily, would you come here for a moment," Kenneth asked.
Okay, things were definitely weird. Kenneth never asked her for anything. She slowly pushed her chair back from her desk and stood up. The heels she was wearing were a bit delicate, but they were comfortable and she found that her usual gait with painful heels was pretty much nonexistent with this expensive pair. She walked easily and confidently across the office and stood in front of the pair. She stood quietly waiting for something to happen, or for someone to tell her what was going on.
"Emily, you will bear witness on behalf of House Dukart," Kenneth began solemnly, "That I, Kenneth Pacifico, as is my right as Head of House Dukart, take Nova as my mate."
Emily almost gasped with open shock. It was bad enough that her eyes seemed to want to pop out of her head. For that moment she lost all manner of her practiced composure. She was grateful that she made no sound. Her jaw dropping and her bulging eyes were traitors enough to her opinion of what she had just heard.
Nova kept her neutral expression and said, "And I Nova, accept Kenneth as my mate, taking his cause as my own, his fight is now mine. The weight he bears on his shoulders shall rest also on mine."
Kenneth couldn't stop the smile from forming on his lips, "I turn you away from the sunlight forever. Welcome now into the world of darkness, and may night forever fold her dark arms protectively above you."

With that Kenneth lowered his head and bit into Nova's neck. Emily watched in horror as Nova's eyes grew wide with the ecstasy of the bite, watching as the light dimmed in those deep eyes.
Emily hadn't seen a turning since she herself was turned. She felt all of her emotions play out as she was forced to watch. She just barely managed to keep tears from falling from her eyes, she knew that it would ruin her make up. The surrender to the bite, the hunger at which she accepted and drank that which was offered. It was an instinctive gesture. One that she had greedily accepted when it had been her turn, because she hadn't been brave enough to turn away and let herself die. The shock of it all was almost too much and Emily found herself standing only by pure instinct. Her mind had retreated to a place that wasn't touchable by the physical world.
Nova had looked at the prospect of this night from every possible angle. Kenneth had tried to prepare her for what might happen, the sensations that she would feel. She simply wasn't prepared for the pure rush of sexual pleasure at his bite. It was like nothing she had ever felt before. She sighed like a slut at being touched, and she didn't care. She would have let Kenneth do anything to her, if only it meant that she could keep feeling this way.
The joyous pleasure faded, and she knew she was dying. She felt her life ebb with every heartbeat. The pump that kept her alive was pumping more and more of her life out of her and into Kenneth, and in that moment, she was willing to sacrifice everything to him. He deserved to take all that she was. What good could she possible do? She was human, she would die in eighty? One hundred years? While Kenneth would live forever. He needed, no, he deserved her life. There was so much good that he could accomplish with the help of her life's energy.
Kenneth withdrew from the dying woman's neck and bit his own wrist, pulling open one of his veins and he dropped his blood into Nova's sighing mouth. He lowered his wrist to her and let her drink of his blood.
Nova vaguely felt the warm liquid splash into her mouth. It was coppery, warm, tangy, and so good. That liquid she knew was his blood and she wanted more. It gave her back that rush of sexual tension and pleasure. She was sure she would orgasm from this. She drank more, she was sucking on something, she didn't know what and didn't care. The blood was all that mattered, she drank, but she wanted so much more.
"That's enough!" Kenneth yelled and threw the weak woman to the ground.
Nova struggled on the ground, she wanted more, she wanted to die, she wanted to live. She wanted everything and nothing. The last image she saw was Kenneth gripping his wrist, sneering down at her. There was something deep inside her, something past the euphoria that she was drowning in, something that was still the human woman who she had been when she walked into this office. That dying part of her cackled at the pain that she had caused him, and was sad that she hadn't caused him more. She smiled. Blood dripped from her lips, her eyes slowly, defiantly closed, and her heart finally stopped.
"Emily? Emily!" Kenneth barked.
