Wolves and Men

Book 7 chapter 9c

"You BITCH!"

The entire group whirled their heads around towards the camp fire where Furaha and her group had been sitting. Acharya saw Mary lunge at the female Bultungin alpha and both of them went down in a heap as they both rolled on the ground. The three other Bultungin got up to separate the two before Acharya and the rest of his pack were at a full sprint back to the fire, with the two older Bultungin in tow.

Mary had tackled the other woman and had driven her into the ground. Mary had the clear advantage thanks to all her Krav Maga training from Efraim that she had received from the Mountain. Mary was able to control Furaha with her thighs as she sat up ready to pummel the other woman's face with her balled fists.

Before she was able to land a blow, the older silent male Bultungin grabbed her from behind and yanked on her to try and get her away from his cackle alpha. Mary didn't let go of Furaha that easily and the only thing the older male accomplished was dragging both woman a few feet through the rough, dry, sun baked ground. Mary got one arm free and drove it into Furaha's face, simultaneously tightening her thighs around the African woman's mid-section, squeezing all the air from her lungs.

Acharya stormed up to the camp fire throwing the unsuspecting older male Bultungin aside and grabbing Mary's raised fist. "Mary! What the hall has gotten into you?!"

Mary didn't respond but ripped her hand free from her alpha's grip and punched the African woman on the ground. Furaha didn't seem to resist at all, she was struggling to breathe. Acharya tried again to get Mary's attention when Furaha shifted into her hyena form and twisted in Mary's thigh grip and sank her teeth deeply into Mary's leg. The sound of Mary's femur snapping under the hyena's jaw tensile strength was audible for everyone in the group.

The air was filled with the howl of agony from Mary, who couldn't even move from the pain. Even if she could, her leg was a ruined mess of snapped bone, sinew, and blood. Furaha didn't eat any of the wound, she did however twist around and back to Mary's other leg before anyone of the Shape shifters could react, and she bit down and snapped Mary's other leg. Mary didn't scream this time, her eyes simply rolled up into her skull and she laid back limp, as she blacked out.

The werewolves in the group were stunned to see the Bultungin simply unwrap herself from the limp broken legs that had held her just a moment ago. She stepped dominantly on Mary's chest and wiped her fore and hind paws on the limp form of the female werewolf, before stepping down and shaking herself, flinging off the dirt that had clung to her fur. When the Bultungin was satisfied that she was clean and presentable, she shifted back to her human form, serene and calm, taking her place at the fire as if nothing had happened.

Stolen story; please report.

Asclepius quickly knelt down next to Mary's raggedly breathing form and inhaled at her wounds sharply. He looked up at Acharya slowly. Acharya watched Mary breathing, so light and ragged, and nodded to Asclepius. The maned wolf bent his neck and bit down just above Mary's left leg wound.

Mary barely whimpered as fresh pain wracked her limp unconscious form. Asclepius nodded and softly bit her other leg. The unconscious woman beneath him whimpered deeply as her body began to quickly pull itself together and heal itself.

Asclepius took a few measured breathes of his own before inhaling the wounds of his patient. He looked up at his alpha and nodded. Acharya and his whole pack knew that werewolf healing wasn't magic, and it wasn't science, but something more borne from life itself. Mary was in for a very rough night and she may not be able to move for a couple of days, and she was going to have to eat, a lot.

When the pack alpha was sure that Mary was going to be alright, he and Aiman both, turned towards the calm Bultungin woman who had injured Mary so grievously. The African woman was sitting at the fire, not needing or wanting any attention from her followers, staring deeply into the flames.

"And you felt the need to do that, why?" Acharya asked coldly.

Furaha didn't stir, nor did she raise her eyes from the fire.

Aiman crouched down and looked up at the alpha Bultungin from across the flames, "Our pack mate would not have attacked you without cause. I am a stranger here, and I know not all of your ways. But when blood is drawn, only blood can repay that debt. I won't hesitate to kill you or anyone that stands between you and I."

The African woman's eyes slowly raised from the depths of the fire and met Aiman's eyes coldly, as the slightest hint of a smile touched the corners of her lips.

"Why did our pack mate attack you?" Aiman asked.

The African woman did smile at the reasked question, "I told her that she would succeed only as far as I allowed her too. That at a single thought from me you all would be killed. She was weak and a fool for attacking me. Go ask her yourself, I doubt even she knows."

Tara said, "And just what the hell is that supposed to mean? Do you think I will let you sit there with that smug grin on your face and not answer for what you did to her? That was uncalled for!"

Furaha launched herself to her feet with blinding speed, "That is our way, outsider! She's mine now! She'll either obey or she'll be broken again! I don't suffer fools and she is the worst fool I've ever met! I won't sit here and bandy words with outsiders, especially not ones so weak and pathetic as to have their hopes hinge on a single weakling like her!" She jerked her chin in Mary's direction.

"What have you done to her?" Malikah asked with an unsettling calm to her voice.

Furaha smiled wickedly, "I have marked her, even though she was passed out, she will follow me. She'll still have her wits and her, self, such that it is, but she will be unable to disobey me. As I said, she's mine now."
