Revive Rome: Wait! Why not make the empress fall in love with me first?

Chapter 105: Deep Thinking

The Undead Demigod stationed in Almeria City, titled "Edge of Grief," is a Resentful Spirit Bloodline Demigod of Level 32.

Much like Banshees, Resentful Spirits belong to the Ghost System of the four great Undead Races. Compared to Banshees, which tend to "weaken" enemies, Resentful Spirits are better at granting themselves various unique survival buffs.

For example, Mind Blind Zone (not attracting hate), Nihility State (halving damage from the outside world), Anti-Space (moving unimpeded by obstacles), and so on, and of course, the most distinctive feature of the Ghost System: immunity to pure physical damage. Whether it is swords or bullets, hitting them would simply pass through.

If The Azure Longsword truly ended up in conflict with this demigod, it couldn't be said that there was no way to fight. First, summon Miel, this little cheater, and pick a few girls to cover with "Future State," and you could immediately create several demigods who have crossed the Level 20 threshold.

Taking into account that everyone's expertise lies mainly in extremely powerful higher-rank rare Laws, even if they're not at Level 30, combined forces could compete with this demigod, however...

"Due to the Resentful Spirit's skill system, which is geared towards fast movement and damage reduction, once our whereabouts are exposed, even if we have the ability to protect ourselves, it's almost impossible to trap and kill this 'Edge of Grief' demigod," Eleanor analyzed. "So, if our plan is exposed to this demigod, it essentially means that the capture plan has already nearly failed, and it might even affect our subsequent missions and schedules—if the demigod shares our whereabouts with the entire Undead faction."

"I have something to add," Medea said, "Ansalra is a Level 14 Corpse Witch, who, because of her unique research talent, is currently living in this demigod's palace. I have not yet found the chance to plant the Parasitic Seed in him."

"It's nearly impossible to capture Ansalra from her palace without the demigod's knowledge. In fact, as Resentful Spirits are of the Spiritual Bloodline, they possess certain Mind System abilities. Even if Ansalra is controlled by me, once in front of this demigod, it would be easy for her to detect something unusual."

"My future observation results indeed confirm this," Miel said calmly.

"Is this Undead Demigod really that strong?" Nora asked in surprise.

"Just control Ansalra, and Mia can take him and teleport away with the Ripple Sword," Eleanor suddenly suggested.

"Eh, right!" Mia exclaimed, realizing the solution.

Everyone fell silent at her words, teleportation is your signature skill, little Mia! How come you are less familiar with your own abilities than Eleanor is?

"Alright, then this is solved," Medea said after a long silence, having to admit that Mia's Ripple Sword... was simply like a bug in existence.

Asking herself, if she were that Resentful Spirit Demigod, even if someone teleported with Ansalra from the room suddenly, she wouldn't necessarily be able to react in time.

"So, the capture phase is settled," Thira clapped her hands and said, "The next issue to resolve is..."

"Firstly, how I will control Ansalra," Medea said seriously. "The target stays in the palace immersed in research, so all his living expenses are handled by Undead Servants; it's very difficult to lure him out to plant the Parasitic Seed."

"So, Medea, we just need to figure out how to get you in," Thira pondered out loud. "Hmm, actually, that's not hard, considering we have Fire Island to hide you."

"The key question is who will be responsible for smuggling Fire Island in?" Medea looked towards Miel, "Ideally, it should be someone of the Undead Race, so they can move inside without suspicion, don't you think, Miel?"

"Possible," Miel agreed, "When Minerva possesses me, my body manifests certain Banshee characteristics, which could be used to blend in and get you inside."

"Another problem is afterwards," Medea spoke slowly, "Once Ansalra disappears, the Undead Servants outside will quickly notice the absence of their master, and eventually alert the Resentful Spirit Demigod."

"The issue is, no one knows when his disappearance will be noticed, how far we can retreat during that time, and whether the other party has means to track Ansalra—according to my understanding, Mind type Laws usually possess similar skills, so the answer is more or less affirmative."

"What if we shelter him in Fire Island?" Eleanor asked gravely.

"Fire Island is a Half-plane, and Half-planes cannot shield from influences like Purgatory, Abyss, Netherworld, Shadow Realm, and the Subconscious Ocean," Medea shook her head. "Remember last time Mia fell from Fire Island straight into the bottom of the Abyss?"

"If someone possessed a similar ability," they could very likely sense and pinpoint the location of Fire Island from the Main Plane through the Subconscious Ocean. Then, even the positional coordinates of Fire Island itself might be exposed.

"That means, we can't hide him on Fire Island," Eleanor pondered. "But if we put him outside, there's the risk of a Demigod tracking him down."

"Is there a way to break this kind of sensing method?" Nora asked curiously.

"To figure out a workaround, you first need to know how she achieves this sensing," sighed Thira. "The Laws of the Extraordinary Realm are infinite, and the skills derived from them are completely unpredictable. Unless you observe directly with Spirituality as she initiates the sensing, there's no way to analyze it beforehand."

Hmm... The ladies all fell deep into thought.

Unable to conceal the target's disappearance, unable to decrypt or block the sensing method, and even uncertain how far they could flee with him, the situation seemed all too unsolvable.

With that in mind, everyone once again found themselves telepathically in sync, as if instinctually turning their gazes toward Aske.

"Eh, why are you all looking at me?" Aske, who had just caught up, asked in confusion.

"We have a problem," stated Thira.

"If we capture Ansalra," continued Medea.

"How do we avoid alerting the Resentful Spirit Demigod, who'd notice his disappearance and track us?" Eleanor followed up with the question.

"Oh, Ansalra..." Aske wore a contemplative expression.

"Why capture this person?" After a moment, he raised his head and asked, a hint of bewilderment in his voice.

The ladies: .........

So, Squad Leader, you weren't listening from the start, were you!

That's just too much, being this slack as a squad leader, way too much!

Even the normally patient Nora couldn't help but place her hand on her forehead and sigh in frustration. A few twitches appeared at the corner of Eleanor's eye, then she calmed down and said coolly:

"Squad Leader, we've been following the coastline until now, but next, we're going to head directly East, into the flat terrain and densely populated Andalusia region. Having a large group of invisible Banshees as scouts would greatly reduce the risk for the remainder of our journey."

"Mmm, indeed," Aske understood naturally.

In his Star Squad, there was a teammate named Old Zhang who followed a summoning-tactic style and had the Bloodline of an "Undead Witch Doctor." During competitions, they often relied on his summoned Banshees for scouting.

Undead Banshees possess a basic level of intelligence (which the Spiritual Bodies summoned by Nora lacked), could become invisible, fly, and carry out complex tactical orders. They even had a certain amount of Extraordinary Ability. Therefore, this kind of Banshee swarm scouting tactic was an optimal choice for teams with a summoning-style player.

Another established scouting tactic is to specifically train Shadow Assassins like little Mia. While their intelligence gathering was not as strong as a Banshee swarm, they could perform surprise attacks and control in battle, a more offense-focused team configuration.

The Azure Longsword chose the latter, but that didn't mean they couldn't attempt the former, especially when they had a strong control Mind Mage like Medea... With this in mind, Aske nodded and asked:

"I understand. You want to use Medea's Manipulation Law to control that Undead Witch Doctor but are afraid of alarming and attracting the Resentful Spirit Demigod stationed in the city."

"Actually, if you continue to ponder deeply, you'll realize the key point: what we really need isn't the Undead Witch Doctor who is difficult to take away..."

"...but rather the ability he has to Summon Banshees, isn't it?"
