Revive Rome: Wait! Why not make the empress fall in love with me first?

Chapter 21: Hang In There

Supporting Nora back to the Lysine Building, as they entered the elevator, the Holy Daughter could barely stand and was almost leaning entirely on him.

After returning to the residence, Aske struggled to help her take off her shoes, socks, and outerwear, then placed her on the bed and covered her with a blanket.

Seriously, a dignified Demigod, yet drunk to this extent. I wonder if she really didn't use her conceptualization ability or if she's just pretending.

Aske intended to get her some water, but as he turned around, his wrist was caught by her.

"Stay with me." Nora had her eyes slightly open in the dim room, pleadingly grasping his wrist, her delicate face adorned with the unique rosy flush of a person experiencing a hangover.

"Alright, alright." Aske had no choice but to sit down by the bedside, patting her small hand.

Compared to Eleanor's slender and powerful hands, Nora's small hands were a bit plump but felt soft and boneless, extremely comfortable to touch.

Holding Nora's hand, she let out a strange laugh of "hihi" and snuggled her way over to his side in the covers.

"Stay with me." She said coyly, hugging Aske's waist from under the covers.

Aske: ???

"Stop messing around." He gently touched Nora's forehead, which was slightly warm from the alcohol, "I'm already married to Eleanor, don't you mind that?"

"I declare your marriage invalid on behalf of God." Nora mumbled vaguely, then giggled again, mumbling something Aske couldn't hear clearly.

"On what grounds?!!"

She suddenly shouted loudly in her daze, giving Aske quite a shock.

"I was here first! I was the one who confessed first, the one who made a ten-year promise… so why can Medea give you children? Why can Eleanor marry you? Why does Nora have to wait in line?!"

Nora suddenly sat up in a drunken rampage, tears streaming down as she whimpered:

"Is it because I'm not proactive enough? Aske, you heartless man! Scumbag, scumbag, scumbag!"

She fiercely punched Aske, who had no choice but to endure it, but soon Nora ran out of strength, and instead hugged him again, shouting desperately:

"I don't care! Even if you're married, I'll steal you away from Ellie! Clearly, clearly, I was the one here first, the one who confessed, the one with the promise…"

She gazed at Aske through her drunken eyes, as if trying to find flowers on his face.

"You're drunk." Aske sighed, not breaking free from her embrace.

"I'm not drunk!" Nora protested.

"Drink some hot water." Aske got up to pour her some hot water.

When he returned with the hot water from the kitchen, he found Nora already sprawled on the bed asleep, her small nose subtly moving, her body curled up like a cute big white rabbit.

.........

The next morning.

With the smart walls changing color, sunlight filtered through, illuminating the room.

Nora woke up in bed to see Aske standing by the floor-to-ceiling window, gazing at the distant cityscape of Solomon City.

Rows of high-rise buildings stood like a steel forest on the land, their colossal frameworks pointing skyward.

Neon lights flickered on the building facades, 24/7 displaying all kinds of advertisements. Household appliances, cars, private planes, cosmetics, and some "light luxury products" favored by consumerists bombarded pedestrians' senses through holographic images.

Advertisement airships floated over the city, with screens scrolling today's segmented weather reports, interspersed with tons of news and countless advertisements.

Cars continuously flew between skyscrapers, like hawks chasing each other. These flying cars weren't fast sports cars but vehicles hovering in the air with jet engines, truly soaring through the sky.

Nora had mentioned before that those who could afford these flying cars were wealthy thrill-seekers, particularly fond of racing in the city sky, enjoying the thrill of speeding and living on the edge.

Aske didn't comment on such behaviors.

Beyond these flying cars and the steel forest, he could see the ruined silhouettes in the distance. The suburbs had abandoned high-rise buildings, some finished but never sold, others stopped halfway, the exposed rebar and concrete an unsightly specter.

The persistent sound of gunfire echoed from there, clearly indicating it wasn't peaceful, making Aske curious if stray bullets would reach here.

If they accidentally flew over here and hurt pedestrians in the urban area, that'd be terrible.

"What are you looking at?" Nora walked over to him, smiling.

"The scenery." Aske said, "The scenery of Solomon City is different from anywhere else."

"If you live here for over 20 years, you'll be completely tired of these views." Nora shrugged.

"Is it the same with marriage?" Aske mused.

"Depends on the person." Nora changed into her professional outfit—a pure white nun's robe with gold trimming—picked up the cross on the bedside table, and said, "I have a mass to preside over this morning."

"Need me to accompany you?" Aske asked.

"No, you just stay home." Nora smiled, "I'll be going now."

.........

At the Danivellek Fortress in the North, Divine Luo and Helensing were still finalizing the terms of their negotiations for peace.

"Take note, our side is willing to return the Danivellek Fortress purely out of respect for your country." Eleanor, filled with anger, slammed the table, "It's absolutely impossible to cede Schleswig. If your side truly respects us, then put forth equal conditions!"

"I must have the Schleswig Duchy." Sigrdrifa said coldly.

The White Emperor's negotiation tactic was quite aggressive: make a demand and then refuse to budge, enraging Eleanor to the point where she repeatedly banged the table—which was nearly broken, teetering on collapse.

"A gentle reminder." Medea said softly nearby, "We're actually not in a rush, but the longer it drags on, the more likely Nora will use various means on Aske!"

"Damn it!" Eleanor gnashed her teeth in anger, worrying if Nora might really do something to Aske.

Ever since she had someone crash her wedding, the two were openly at odds. Given Eleanor's understanding of her, Nora must also be extremely angry, or else she wouldn't act so outrageously.

If she really harmed Aske, with their current level and power gap… Eleanor couldn't even bear to imagine the possibility.

Aske! Hang on until I get back!
