Chapter 1421: Something Seems Off

Chen Yang didn't say anything more, sat silently in the car, and glanced outside.

The driver, Fu Deren, wasn't driving slowly. In just half an hour, they'd left the city and entered the suburban area.

The road was almost deserted, with hardly any people or cars, allowing Fu Deren's little brother to drive without any hesitation.

The speed was at least 150.

Seeing such a high speed even on regular roads made Chen Yang feel a bit uneasy.

If something were to happen, it wouldn't be good.

He thought of speaking up to ask them to slow down.

But before he could say anything, there was a sudden loud screech, and the car came to an abrupt stop.

The sudden deceleration threw everything inside the car around.

Fu Deren, unprepared, nearly rolled off his seat.

Chen Yang, however, was ready and with his strong physique, remained unmoved.

"What the hell! How are you driving! Are you trying to kill us?" Fu Deren steadied himself and climbed up furiously.

Shouting angrily at the driver in front.

The driver, face covered in cold sweat, looked flustered.

"Big bro... sorry, I didn't expect a bus to stop here, I'm really sorry," the driver quickly explained and apologized.

"Damn you, drive properly, or I'll break your legs next time!" Fu Deren yelled.

"Yes, yes, I understand,"

The driver nodded repeatedly and began to move forward slowly.

"Sorry about that, Chen Yang. I'll teach this guy a lesson when we get back. He can't even drive and keeping him is a waste of money," after scolding the driver, Fu Deren immediately put on a friendly face and apologized to Chen Yang with a smile.

"It's fine,"

Chen Yang replied coolly, not showing much reaction.

But he turned his gaze outside.

On the road outside, just as the driver had said, there was indeed a bus parked there, but its purpose was unknown.

Just as Chen Yang was about to look away, he suddenly saw half a head appear in the rear window.

The person's eyes were full of plea for help.

Seeing this, Chen Yang immediately felt something was wrong.

He quickly turned his head and shouted at the driver to stop.

The driver, hearing Chen Yang's words, quickly braked and stopped the car.

"What's wrong, Chen Yang, is there something wrong?" Fu Deren asked somewhat puzzled after hearing Chen Yang shout to stop.

But Chen Yang ignored him; after the car stopped, he immediately opened the door, jumped out, and walked straight towards the bus.

Though Fu Deren was confused, he didn't ask much and immediately followed.

Following Chen Yang all the way back, they walked up to the bus.

During the approach, Chen Yang observed the interior of the bus through the front glass.

He found that, besides a few men standing inside, there was no sign of anyone else.

All the seats were empty.

This was too unusual.

Such a situation could likely mean the passengers were threatened and forced to crouch under the seats, which is why no one was visible.

While this is what Chen Yang thought, he wasn't completely sure.

After approaching the vehicle with Fu Deren, Chen Yang walked to the door and knocked on it.

Thump thump.

The few inside hadn't noticed anything outside until they heard Chen Yang knocking on the door, which made them look over with unfriendly eyes.

Seeing someone knocking from outside surprised them.

After exchanging glances, one of the thinner men pressed the open-door button and opened the door.

"What do you want?"

As the man opened the door, he immediately stepped to the entrance and asked Chen Yang aggressively what he wanted.

Chen Yang smiled slightly and said politely, "I saw your bus parked here, is there a problem? Do you need any help?"

Upon hearing this, the man's expression became very irritated.

"No problems, and we don't need your help." The man waved impatiently, like swatting away a fly, and turned to close the door, ignoring Chen Yang.

Seeing the man's reaction, Chen Yang felt even more suspicious about the bus.

So, he reached out and held the door open.

"If you don't need help, can you help me instead?" Chen Yang continued.

The man, hearing that Chen Yang had more to say, turned back.

His expression was even more annoyed now.

"Can't help! Get lost and stop bothering us," the man continued impatiently.

Chen Yang sensed something was very wrong, and naturally, he wasn't going to leave easily.

"You haven't even heard what I need, yet you say you can't help. That's too definitive, don't you think?" Chen Yang said with a smile.

The man, already impatient, became angrier seeing Chen Yang's persistence.

"I said I can't help, and that's it! Can't you understand human language? If you don't want to get beaten, get lost, got it?" The man's attitude turned completely hostile, as if a fight could break out at any moment.

Anyone else seeing this would probably leave.

But Chen Yang purposely wanted to provoke these guys, so he maintained a calm smile, continuing, "Friend, when you're out and about, helping someone isn't a big deal, you're being a bit unreasonable."

Chen Yang's persistence thoroughly angered the man.

"I'll damn well kill you!" The hot-tempered man grabbed an iron rod from the car, ready to swing it at Chen Yang.

But he was stopped by another man beside him.

While holding him back, he also gave the aggressive man a look, signaling him not to be rash.

The man saw this look and momentarily restrained his temper, not attempting further action.

Their exchange was subtle, an eye-to-eye communication only noticeable upon close observation.

Chen Yang, having kept his eyes on their expressions, noticed all these minor details.

After the aggressive man was held back, the other man immediately engaged Chen Yang in conversation with a completely different attitude.

The first man was aggressive, but this one spoke in a gentler tone.

"Haha, you make a good point, friend. When you're out, it's only right to help others. So, what can we help you with?" the man asked cheerfully.

"I was hoping you could give us a ride. Who knows how long we'll have to wait for a car out here in the wilderness," Chen Yang replied with a smile.

"A ride?"

The man was genuinely surprised to hear this.

This was evident from his expression.

"Yeah, just give us a ride. We'll pay whatever the fare is," Chen Yang smiled and answered.

The man's face started to change.

After several seconds of silence, he suddenly smiled and said, "Our vehicle has some issues, and we aren't sure when we'll move again, but if you want a ride, sure."

The man spoke with a smile, but his voice carried a noticeable chill.

Chen Yang realized the man had no good intentions, but if it meant getting on the bus to investigate, he didn't mind.

"Haha, thank you," Chen Yang smiled back, and after expressing his gratitude, he boarded the bus with Fu Deren.
