Tokyo: Rabbit Officer and Her Evil Partner

Chapter 384: Nightmare (Part 2)

"What magic trick?" Minamoto Tamako asked, clearly having had a strong sense of curiosity since childhood. Fushimi Roku casually asked, and she immediately took the bait.

Fushimi Roku picked up a pencil from the table and gently placed it on his earlobe, smiling as he said, "Watch carefully, this pencil will disappear soon!"

Little Tamako pouted and said, "I've seen this magic trick before. It's just an optical illusion, pretending to insert the pencil into the ear but actually hiding it behind the head..."

"No, no, no!"

Fushimi Roku interrupted, "My trick is different from what you've seen. No matter where you stand, I can make it disappear."

These words piqued Tamako's curiosity even more. She walked with her little steps to the side of Fushimi Roku, looking at the pencil resting on his earlobe, and asked, "How does it disappear?"

"Watch carefully."

Fushimi Roku deliberately drew out his words.

Little Tamako leaned in closer, staring intently at Fushimi Roku's hand, only to see him suddenly press down hard, inserting the pencil from his earlobe into his head, with blood spurting out from the crack in his ear, splattering all over her face.

She was dumbfounded.

Fushimi Roku only felt a blackout in front of him, losing consciousness.

He didn't know how much time had passed when a familiar voice came to his ears again. As his consciousness gradually gathered, he heard little Tamako shouting, "Wake up... wake up..." and then gently pushing him.

This time he quickly regained consciousness, immediately lifted his head, looked around, and found himself still lying on the desk, in a pink little bedroom, with little Tamako still standing next to him, saying, "Teacher Fushimi... don't sleep..."

Wouldn't it ever wake up, even in death?

Fushimi Roku frowned, vaguely feeling a sense of oddity, yet he didn't know where this feeling was coming from.

He couldn't afford to delve into it deeper; if he couldn't wake up in time, he and Minamoto Tamako's situation would be very dire—right now, they were both in a state of unconsciousness. If Miyazaki Shizuka were to use a crossbow arrow to make a hole in his forehead, he wouldn't even know how he died.

Fushimi Roku stood up, ignoring little Tamako, planning to find a high place to leap off in faith... If you fall in a dream, it can wake the dreamer, like falling off a cliff, down the stairs, or a high-altitude fall, as the strong sense of weightlessness can trigger the brain's instinctive protection mechanism.

"Eh? Teacher Fushimi, where are you going?"

Little Tamako followed him, asking eagerly, "Well, Mom will be back soon... but my homework isn't finished yet..."

Fushimi Roku ignored her, making his way through the living room toward the sliding door. This residence didn't appear to be a high-end apartment but rather a traditional Japanese house, with green tatami mats on the floor, brown wooden boards on the walls, and a vase with flowers in the corner.

It seemed to be on the ground floor.

He reached out to grasp the sliding door handle, pulling gently but didn't open it; so he increased the force, with veins popping on his arm, yet the sliding door remained unmoving.

Strange.

Fushimi Roku frowned, closing his eyes, attempting to rely on Will to change his dream, just like his previous shared dream experience, repeatedly chanting silently, giving himself suggestions, so he could freely control his dream.

But this time, he failed.

When Fushimi Roku opened his eyes again, he was still inside the old Japanese-style house, with no change in the surroundings, and little Tamako stared at him with a puzzled look from behind.

He finally realized he was trapped in the dream.

"Teacher Fushimi... what are you doing?" little Tamako couldn't help but ask.

Fushimi Roku had no patience to reply, he bent down and used his fingers to tear a hole in the Tang paper on the sliding door, peering outside.

Outside was a corridor, dimly lit, the yard's scenery entirely obscured by darkness, Fushimi Roku thus realized the time in the dream was night.

Since he couldn't get out, he might as well commit suicide inside.

Fushimi Roku casually moved away the vase, dragged the rack to the center of the tatami, climbed onto it; he stood on the rack, took off his suit jacket, threw it forcefully upwards, wrapped it around the beams, and quickly made an Otherworld Transcender.

Little Tamako, seeing this, trembled with fear, shrank back into the room, hiding behind the door, watching Teacher Fushimi going insane.

Fushimi Roku tugged on the jacket to make sure it was sturdy enough to bear his weight, then slipped his head through it, placing it around his neck.

Indeed, he planned to kick away the rack, creating the fear of weightlessness, and hanged himself in the process to regain consciousness.

However, before he could carry out his plan, a piercing telephone ring suddenly blared in the living room.

The landline was ringing.

Fushimi Roku had originally intended to ignore it, but he worried that if he didn't answer, an outsider might come in and interfere with his attempted suicide, so he paused his actions, climbed down from the rack, and hastily answered the landline phone.

"Moshi moshi?"

He placed the receiver to his ear, and the next second, an urgent voice came through, with a crackling electronic noise:

"Is it Fujimura-kun? It's Minamoto Tamako! Don't commit suicide! Whatever you do, don't commit suicide!!"

Fushimi Roku frowned, suspecting it was Miyazaki Shizuka's hypnotic method to interfere with his awakening, perhaps even the Tamako on the phone was fake, just part of the dream.

However, the next sentence from the receiver made him freeze: "Red Redemption Coupon! And the stamp! This is a secret only the two of us know! I'm not someone from your dream! I'm also in the dream, dreaming with you!"

Fushimi Roku fell silent for a moment, then said, "Taira Sakurako also knows about this, and Miyazaki Shizuka had previously hypnotized us... say something she couldn't possibly know."
